Twisting of the law to suit the Welfare Department 6/29/2008

If anyone out there has been harassed by a Welfare Department then you need to read what I am going through. I separated from my wife in 1992 and she announced to me that I was not going to be allowed to see my children and she backed up her statement by moving out of our family home and has remained on the run ever sense. I knew she would apply for welfare because she did not wish to work. I, after waiting a few months went to the Welfare Office and requested the whereabouts of my children. I was informed that my wife was receiving welfare but that they would not give me the information I requested. Them not having and not offering a reason for denying my request asked me to leave. As I understand it the Nebraska Legislature put into effect a " Self Sufficiency " act for welfare recipients. In that act the Nebraska Legislature through the WRA specifically mandated among other things a broad definition of allowed "work activities" within a Self-Sufficiency contract to include education and job training. And part of the reforms to the act that were included was one that said that welfare had a commitment to provide families the intensive support needed to move from public assistance to economic self-sufficiency. They apparently did not do this for my ex-wife and continued to pay her money and allowed her to continue not working. Because of my ex and the Welfare department I have been denied my rights as a father, and to be a part of my children's lives. The State of Nebraska sued me for the money my ex has collected over a sixteen year period and want me to pay it back to them, when they are part of the reason I was unable to continue supporting my children back in 1992. And they have by twisting the law been able to get this civil matter changed into what they are calling child support. I spoke with the child support office and was told that it not child support but an attempt to collect the debt. So beware governments do what they want to whoever they want. RL more
