Watson's has been here for a very long time and is a nice smaller scale garden center (as opposed to Valley View, that is). They have healthy, good quality plants and a nice variety of most stuff. The prices tend to be high but sometimes it's worth it to know you are getting good plants. They have a lot of pots, tools, seeds, fertilizer, hoses, etc., PLUS a lot of decorative garden items. Some of it is pretty kitschy but they have some very tasteful things too. I like their selection of cast concrete ornaments outside. The employees are very helpful and friendly. I recently went in there for a very arcane tool. They didn't have it in stock but they got one for me within a day. That's service! more

Watson's is similar to Valley View Farms in Cockeysville in that you can find any garden tool, spray, plant, etc. During the Christmas season Watson is the home to usually two camels. This year Fred and Barney(the camels) were in a pen at Watson's and were hilarious just to watch. In the past Watson's has had donkeys. After viewing the camels you can enter the store by walking through a Winter Wonderland walkway. Watch out for the snowman that starts singing when it detects motion around it! (He got me!) The shop itself is filled with wonderful Christmas gifts, decor, and much much more. This is part one of my traditional "get in the Christmas mood" stops with my best friend. more

Located at the busy end of York Road (just outside of the beltway), Watson's Garden Center has been a Lutherville institution for over a quarter of a century. I remember going here as a child and I still stop by even though I no longer live anywhere near it. As garden centers go, it's not bad. It covers a large area and has an adequate selection, but overall I prefer Valley View Farms just down the road. With Valley View in such close proximity, Watson's just isn't able to keep up, so rather than compete directly, they are turning to other areas for specialization. As a result, they are becoming less and less a garden center and more an "outdoor living" store. They are a local dealer of the Rainbow play systems (overpriced, in my opinion) and have opened a fireplace and patio store as well. If you are looking for a really good selection of plants, go to Valley View or Garlands, but if you don't mind a more limited selection, Watson's is fine. more
