Editorial review from Citysearch 8/10/2012

I would NOT recommend going to Watson Road Veterinary Clinic. Dr. King did not follow proper protocol with our dog and now she is dead because of him. We brought our dog into him twice in one day because she was acting very sick. He wrote it off as a bacterial infection and sent us home both times without running a blood test. That night we had to rush our dog to an emergency vet where she was finally given the right tests and it was discovered she had Addison's disease, a fully treatable disease, but it was too late by then. I will never go back to Watson Road Veterinary Clinic and hope nobody else loses their pet due to this incompetent Veterinarian. more

BEST VET EVER! 9/2/2011

We Love Dr. King! Been going to him for quite a while now. With all of our cats. We have referred him to our friends and they have brought their animals too. He is a miracle worker with animals. Like a Dr. Doolittle! Our female cat has had her fair share of issues and Dr. King eases not only the animal but also the owners of these furry little people. His talent for the medical arts is truly amazing! If he is not your pets Dr. definitely make him one!! more

I love this vet clinic! 7/28/2011

I adore this vet clinic, I can very easily afford it. I reccomend it to everyoen I know. The people are nice, they actually care about the animals and not the money they make. Even the vet techs are very nice and helpful. They have helped me with foster animals several times including my own pets. I use Dr King but my friend uses a different vet there. I use dr king because he is the first person that tended to my animals, same with my friend. I would assume all the vets there are just as amazing. THANK YOU WATSON RD VET CLINIC! more

Great Vet and Great Person 10/16/2009

My parents always used Watson Road Veterinary Clinic when we had pets. Now that I have my own home and pets, there is not other place I would take them. Dr. King is always kind, honest, and knowledgable. I've never had a problem there and would recommend him and the Watson Road Vet Clinic to anyone. Pros: Animals always first. more

Good friend 10/14/2009

I consider Jay a dear friend for the way he has cared for my pets over the past several years. He remembers them each time we visit, even if it has been years. Jay tried to save one of my cats a few years ago, and was kind enough to check on the cat on his days off and thoughtful enough to call me with updates on my cat's health, and even sat with me when I visited my cat before he died. I still take my cats to see him, and greatly appreciate the way he cares for them. Pros: Remembers my pets and me. more

Great Reptile Vet 8/26/2009

I took my Chinese Water Dragon to see Dr. King because I heard that he was THE reptile vet to go to in the STL area. I was concerned that my lizard might have ulcerative stomatitis. It turned out that my lizard was perfectly healthy, but Dr. King gave me advice on how to treat my lizard if I had to in the future, and answered my other numerous questions. Because I take a very active interest in the health of my lizard, it's nice to deal with a vet that I was certain knew what he was doing. I'd happily return to see him in the future. Pros: has lots of experience with reptiles more

Compassionate, Caring, Humane ,to Animal and Owner 3/30/2009

I have had dogs almost, forever. In the past , before I found Dr. Zeis, Dr. King and Dr. Fagan of Watson Road \r Animal Clinic I was always frustrated. This group of Vets go above and beyond to take care of all animal illinesses to the best of their abitity. For my pets any treatment they have rendered for an illiness has been successful. Their staff is as caring and complying as the doctors are. I know, I have found the best in vet care that St. Louis has to offer in this group of doctors and staff. When it sometimes comes to making very difficulot decissions they are there to help and support you--I Know --They have helped me get through some hard ones.--THANK WITHALL MY HEART-- TB Pros: Never Over Charges- Fair Prices more

Only vet I will see... 3/5/2009

My fiance and I rescued a dog ,Gidget, who had never been to the vet, never had any shots, and she had mange. He checked her out, took samples, and gave her all of her shots. His prices were less than Dr. Ziess', but if I did not trust him I would pay more to have my dog treated by the best. I think Dr. King is the best. If he is not working, I will not make an appointment. When Gidget was 10 months old, she began showing signs of a hip problem. She wouldn't jump onto the bed, didn't want to play... It got so bad that she would scream if you touched her or when she tried to get up. We took her to Dr. King, who diagnosed her with hip dysplaysia(after a different Dr. thought she was having back spasms and prescribed her muscle relaxers). He showed me the x-rays and gave me a few options. We decided to have him perform the surgery on her, rather than take her to a different doctor. The director of the education for Humane Society, as well as their head vet surgeon, both gave him a glowing recommendation. She ended up needing two surgeries, but he did not even charge us for the second. He was kind and helpful and answered all of our silly concerned ""parent"" questions. You would think after performing two surgeries on her, Gidget would be terrified of him... but when we turn the corner and she knows we are headed to see Jay, she freaks out! She is just so happy to see him every time, all he has to do is look at her and she dances with excitement. I have never had an awkward moment with Dr. King. I have never felt that he was more interested in chatting me up than taking the best care of my baby. In fact, I would say the opposite. He seems more interested in the animals than the people, as a good vet should be. I would never go to another vet. more

What a wonderful place. 2/27/2009

What a wonderful place. Dr. King is one of the sweetest vets. He truly cares and is so honest with you. If your pet is sick, he keeps you informed constantly and always gives updates. He bent over backwards to accommodate us and take care of our sick puppy. He is a true animal lover. He has MANY pets himself and is quite knowledgeable!! Pros: Dr. King is great more

UNPROFESIONAL! 11/19/2008

DR. KING WAS MORE INTERESTED IN TRYING TO GET A VIEW OF MY CLEAVAGE THAN HE WAS MY CAT. HE WAS RECOMENDED BY A MALE FRIEND, BUT I WOULD NEVER GO BACK. HE THINKS HE'S A REAL CHARMER, BUT HE REALLY MADE ME FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE, AND THE WORST THING WAS, I ENDED UP GOING TO ANOTHER VET BECAUSE HE DIDN'T HELP MY CAT AT ALL. Cons: OFFICE STAFF WAS RUDE, DR. KING DIDN'T CARE ABOUT MY CAT more

Jay is the best! 5/4/2007

Jay toook care of my Maggie for over 10 years. He was gentle and kind. He petted her and he talked to her. I trusted his judgement . He is wonderful I would never hesitate to take my pet to him. Pros: over 10 years of good experience more

Very caring veternarian! 9/24/2006

Dr. King has been great with our two dogs and cat. We have a dachshund that has back troubles, and Dr. King has been absolutely wonderful with her and with us. I highly recommend him if you are looking for someone who will take some time and take care of your pet.\r Pros: Easy to get to, open on some evenings and on Saturdays. Cons: Phone rings busy a lot. more
