Excellent music store 4/5/2006

I can never leave this store without buying way more than I came in for. Their selection is wonderful, especially for an independent record store. They also have a very large section with local and Texas music. They are very good about ordering if by some strange chance they don't already have it in stock. A great music store. more

Waterloo 3/21/2006

I should really own some stock from them. They have so much variety and selection that you can't walk out of there without something. They have a very good section for Texas music and can pretty much find anything from around the world. If you can't find it, these guys will also order it for you. Sometimes their variety can come at a price though. Some of their CD's go up to $18 or so, but they also have a good Used section where you can browse for a couple of hours. If you're into music and like to discover new bands, this is definitely the place. more

If they don't have it, no one does!! 11/29/2005

I was impressed with the variety of music this place has. I found one I had been looking for, for years. Not only was the staff helpful, but they were not pushy. That's important to me as well as a clean and professional facility. They have local, ( I mean down home Texas bands), old, pop, R&B, you name it, they've got it! I give this place a heads up for all their help!!! more

Top notch record store 11/28/2005

If you are a music lover, you will simply love this store! They carry many local bands/artists as well as the mainstream ones. They also buy used CD's, DVD's, etc. Many things that are hard to find will be pretty easy to find here. If you can't find it in their store, chances are pretty high they can order it for you. more

Great place to find interesting stuff and music/videos 10/6/2005

I love waterloo records and video. They have a unique style and environment that you cannot find anywhere else. Here you can find a large variety of music including locals. The staff are very knowledgable and helpful in giving recommendations. If you get bored, they've also got lots of interesting knick knacks lying around the store. more

this is the best record store in the country! 8/23/2005

I can't say enough good things about Waterloo Reocrds. They have a helpful and knowledgeable staff. A very deep select of CD (used and new) and a good selection of vinyl too. You can listen to anything you want before you buy it. And they have a really cool return policy - return something within 7 days (even if its opened) and they will take it back for full credit. They've added a nice selection of toys and funny little Texas trinkets too. more

Waterloo is a great place to browse 8/20/2005

Waterloo Records is located right next to Waterloo Ice House. They sell local bands which are hard to find in regular chain retail stores. The staff is excellent at helping me pick out music, or to find music that is hard to find/get. They have a very eclectic collection. Plan on spending alot of time in there just looking around and listening to music. more

And the beat goes on. 8/20/2005

Waterloo is one of the best record stores in my opinion. They hire people who are passionate about what they do....I heard most have been musicians or their dream is to be a musician. It is not like the huge chain stores you can go into and buy music. They know the history and can help you with any music questions you may have. You can listen to discs before buying and you leave with exactly what you wanted!! more

Great selection of local music 8/19/2005

Waterloo Records is located right next to Waterloo Ice House on Lamar. They offer local music, and also carry harder to find music and videos. The staff there is very helpful and the music selection is awesome. The prices are great for the cds and dvds too. They are always able to fill my special requests too. more

Austin artists featured, but prices a bit out of hand. 8/18/2005

It's a great place in which to bum around and browse if you have a few hours in between classes at UT. They have a great selection of Austin artists and obscure titles. But they do carry mainstream artists...it's where I bought my entire collection of Garth Brooks CDs. However, the prices are completely ridiculous. Unless you are looking for an Austin artist, it is much better to stick to the chains that offer better prices. more

Nothing Special 8/17/2005

Waterloo is better than your average chain store but it won't blow you away. They have a better selection of obscure/indie stuff than most places but their prices can sometimes be disappointing ($18.99 for one CD). A couple of things they have going for them is the wide selection of local music and the in store concerts that they often have. Waterloo is also a star tickets outlet so you can get tickets for tons of local concerts here. The one other set back (besides the prices) is that the staff can sometimes be a bit pretentious. If you don't like being judged by what music you're buying I would suggest somewhere else. more

Mucis capital of the state needs a store 8/16/2005

Austin is considered to be the music capital of Texas. Waterloo records is a great hub for both mainstream and Austin specific music. They are an ever-present name during Austin City limits festival usually carrying every single artists featured. They’re prices are in line with most places, but the selection and expertise inside the store are better than your average Best Buy. You will also find a nice selection of newly released DVD's. They might not have terminals to search music, but the atmosphere and music you’ll hear in a Waterloo will make you feel like you belong in Austin if you are a music lover like I am. more

Find Music You Won't Find Anywhere Else 7/25/2005

This is where you go when you are looking for some quite specialized music. They have a fantastic world collection and they even have a good selection of used music. They also have records, some good music gift items, and cds of local music acts. It's "the" music store of Austin and worth a visit for sure. more
