As a landlord, section 8 housing is great income but, beware of issues regarding apartment inspections. Your apartment can be put in abatement easily. My tenant kept putting off inspection till the last possible date available. Sect 8 gave me 5 days to make numerous repairs and send notice. They conveniently lost the notice that I handed to them in person, thank God I had the receipt. The rent was taken out of my account a month later then replaced. I was treated rudely while trying to remedy the problem. The inspector swore at me for calling him. It was a horrible situation. I claim part responsibility for allowing my tenant to procrastinate but, just so other landlords know, sect 8 is not an easy or friendly company to deal with. I actually had to call their headquarters in Hartford! I do still have sect 8 tenants but I am very careful now!
