So, we went to this restaurant during our trip to Universal Studios, as we were going for the halloween horror nights. We figured that this would be a great place to eat since we like Japanese food. We were greeted not kindly enough but we still decided it could be a good place to dine. We were sure the food was going to be good, there were four of us and a couple of us hardly ordered anything. One ordered sashimi (raw fish) and that was the second to last thing brought to the table, not to mention it took them about an hour to bring us out our food and we didn't get them at the same time. We eventually realized we were in a hurry to get back into the park for the night event and we still hadn't got all our food. They were slow, did not wait us, did not refill our glasses but were certainly quick to take our order. We had to eventually hurry, so we had no time to enjoy our food (that didn't even taste that great). Horrible service, horrible time management, not that great of food, terrible atmosphere, and I will never dine here again. more

Terrible Sushi, Terrible Service 12/7/2009

I ordered the volcano roll. It was terrible. The flavor of the burnt scallops and rice from the supposed chef taking a torch to it was awful!!! There was a combination of cold, I mean quite cold roll, and warm scallop at the same time in my mouth, which was very unpleasant. The miso soup was watery and bla. I also ordered the teriyaki combo with chicken and steak. The steak was okay, but the chicken was pale and looked like a frozen chicken breast from costco heated through and watery teriyaki sauce poured on top. The service was almost non existent. Every time I needed something, our waiter was nowhere to be found. I will never eat there again, and I suggest that you not waste your time or money either. Pros: Non Cons: The Headline says it all... more

Annoying, like listening to three songs at once. 5/31/2009

I went to Wasabi yesterday. I started out extremely annoyed by the fact that there was a guy playing the trumpet right through the open door while inside the restaurant they were playing Daughtry. Also, outside you could hear an old Brittany spears song. Highly annoying. We ordered our soup. She brought the drinks. She brought the sushi. I pour my soy sauce and 10-15 gnats fall out with it. I couldn't finish my food and the manager only comped us 20%. Stay away from wasabi. There are better palces for sushi... like Miyagi's on Sunset. Pros: EXCELLENT Miso Soup. Cons: The soy sauce comes with gnats. more

Not a place for locals 4/20/2009

A few months ago a few friends and I decided to try this place. It was a Friday night and like many other restaurants we expected to do our share of waiting. Pros: Good Sushi Cons: Bad service more

Good sushi, great beer, mediocre service, semi-annoying atmosphere. 3/27/2007

I've been here twice so far, and unfortunately it's gotten worse over the years. Wear your earplugs on the way in, to avoid going deaf from the uber-annoying, 120dB, amplified corporate pop music from the CityWalk courtyard. Make sure to order the Echigo beer -- a smooth, premium Japanese import that's somewhat hard to find (unlike the Molson Canadian-brewed Asahi, Los Angeles Budweiser-brewed Kirin, or Canadian-brewed Sapporo). Also order the ""T-Rex"" cut sushi roll... good stuff! Beware, though... sometimes the sushi chefs get creative and add sauces to their rolls that aren't mentioned in the menu's description. This is normally not a problem, but for those of you on diets (or with food allergies), it can be a bad thing. On my most recent visit (on a Sunday afternoon), the waiter forgot to deliver a side of steamed rice and later sat a table full of fat tourists (complete with a stroller and screaming brat) right beside us. Sigh... thus is CityWalk. Pros: Great beer (Echigo), good food (specialty sushi rolls) Cons: Annoying CityWalk atmosphere, mediocre service more

Good sushi, and great service 7/15/2002

One afternoon we happened to stop by and try Wasabi on Citywalk after a movie. I was a little reserved, considering that Citywalk is a lot of show. But this joint really stepped up. I was really impressed with the amount of food we got. Their halibut is really good. I will say that I've had better tuna @ Noshi Sushi, but other than that everything was great. Service was good and the place was clean. Pros: Halibut, Friendly Service, Good quantity. Cons: Citywalk Parking, Citywalk Crowds more
