Editorial review from Citysearch 6/19/2013

This Walgreens seems to be mismanaged and poorly staffed. There are a few issues that I have with this store. There are a few employees that are downright rude and have no business working with the public. The shelves are always in disarray and product is all over the place, including the floor. There is no rhyme or reason for the location of the clearance items, they are scattered about the store in 3 or 4 different locations. And the kicker: Their lack of syringes. I have been to this location at least 5 times in the past 3 months to buy syringes only to be told that they were completely out of stock. I am an insulin-dependent diabetic and I believe that the pharmacy staff refuses to sell me syringes because I have long hair and maybe I look like a ""drug user"" because of tattoos I have. This is the only thing that I can think of, because a pharmacy running out of syringes is a little like Mcdonald's running out of hamburger buns. If the pharmacy is indeed out of syringes, then they have a serious problem with their ordering system-- and shouldn't these items be on auto-replenishment? Furthermore, if the pharmacy tech who refuses me all the time honestly believes that I am a drug user, would it not make sense, for harm reduction's sake, to sell the syringes anyway so people do not spread dangerous and deadly diseases such as AIDS and Hepatitis? Think about it.....if a drug user is denied his syringes....it is not like he is going to give up on the idea of using drugs that day. He is simply going to use old syringes which is horrible for his veins and body, or he is going to borrow a needle from someone else which has probably already been used. This is how diseases get spread. This is a horrible situation because I just gave myself my humulin with an old raggedy syringe which will no doubt give me a giant bruise. There is no reason to refuse syringes to anyone whether they are suspected of being a drug user or not. And if I am completely wrong about my assumption, and the store was simply out of stock-- well that is just plain unacceptable. I have been to this store THREE TIMES this week and have been told each time that ""our shipment did not come in yet."" This is unacceptable, I should not have to torture myself with old, disgusting syringes simply because I do not have health insurance. I am going to call an agency like the CDC about this, because it is just ridiculous. For harm reduction's sake, sell the syringes and do your job, It is insulting to be treated like a drug addict, and while I understand the predicament, would you rather me a)damage my body or b)catch a communicable disease because some lowly pharmacy technician passed judgement on me. I am going to contact whoever I need to contact in order to make sure this never happens again. And I know it may be placebo, but my leg is very hot and sore in the area where I just placed the insulin shot. Because of this store, I have been re-using insulin syringes for an entire week. And the condescending looks and snide comments they made as I walked away were just uncalled for. DO THE JOB you were hired for and don't pass judgement on others. more

What a wonderful place! Inside the store is Take Care Health Clinic....what a wonderful place! The nurse practitioners are so friendly and helpful. The average length of time it takes to be be seen, start to finish, is about 20 minutes. The prescription was sent electronically to the pharmacy, so it was ready in no time. The pharmacist was very helpful in further explaining my prescription to me. I even was able to get a cup of Chai tea to soothe my throat at their coffee/tea bar on my way out of the store. I found the store to be immaculate and the staff very friendly. The store being open 24 hours is also great. Pros: Friendly staff, Take Care health Clinic inside the store, informative pharmacy staff Cons: none more
