Not a place for Locals to shop 10/2/2009

Really a bummer... too many tourists. If ya wanna do local shopping and are close enough to go to Knoxville... I highly recommend that. This store is ALWAYS Full ...lest you wanna go at 2AM to do your shopping and the deal with the fear of getting mugged on way to your car. Stay away if you are not a tourists. Locals learn this pretty darn quick. And when the store is NOT busy... they think evey person in there is shoplifting. Not a good store to shop at. Find another Wal-Mart if you want to make bargain prices. The taxes in Sevier county are VERY HIGH too so that is another negative. Thanks for taking my "local yokel" views into your decision as to whether or not to visit this store. more

cool store 4/5/2006

This place is the point for tourists,so it is very crowded. It is also very stressful to get in and out of there.Basically the only non crowded time to get in and out of there is in the morning or at night. And remember one thing never go on weekends or else be crowded in and out. There is a good thing though the parking lot is big so you have to worry about getting to your car but it is hard getting out. Thanks for reading. more

A Stressful shopping trip. 3/31/2006

This is a place for tourists, so it's very crowded with shoppers ALL the time. It's very stressful to get in and out of there, then you have to deal with the traffic once you do. I like to slip in and out of the garden department, which seems less crowded. Early morning is the best time to go here. Don't try the weekends, it is packed ! more

If you like traffic, no parking spaces and crowds this is the place for you 10/4/2005

This Walmart is horrible. The ONLY decent time to shop here is first thing in the morning, before 9am and after midnight. To begin with trying to find a place to park. This parking lot is huge yet there is rarely a parking place that isn't a mile away. The aisles are always blocked by stock waiting to be put on the shelves. Items are put in places you'd least expect. The worse part is being almost done with your shopping and find out that the last thing you need is clear across the store. They put their items on clearance quite late in the season, I guess to get as much money out of them as possible. Their prices are good but I don't know if its worth the hassle of traffic and crowds. Checking out there are always lines, the good thing about Walmart is it doesn't matter where you are from they accept checks from out of state. The store is clean and safe and employees are decent. more

Why get rid of the fresh seafood department?! 6/22/2005

Ok, I was all for the new renovations that took place recently at our local Wal Mart Supercenter. That was until they completely ripped out the fresh seafood department. After shopping with our local WalMart for the past 14+ years I was extremely dissappointed to see them remove the fresh seafood department. It's hard enough trying to find fresh seafood here in the mountains worth buying but with the fresh seafood counter they used to have it wasn't a problem. I loved being able to pick and choose my fresh seafood, being able to have something steamed while I went about shopping, and talking with the employee behind the counter. Over the years we became friendly with the lady that used to work behind the counter and always knew that she would give us the freshest & best picks and recommending selections in their freezer that weren't on display. I have purchased fresh seafood from the counter on a weekly basis so you can imagine how frustrated I was when we went for our local grocery trip after going out of town and seeing it was gone!!! Now in the place of what used to be the best fresh seafood counter with the friendly face there is nothing more than everyday run of the mill generic freezer cases and very cold-service. You can guarantee that I will never again purchase seafood from WalMart in the future and because of this we will be looking for other places to patronize. What happened to that friendly face that waited on us for years? Why has WalMart taken away face to face customer service and replaced it with generic dull freezerspace? They may like the idea of turning every WalMart Supercenter into an exact carbon copy replica of each other but it's those small things like the fresh seafood counter & those friendly faces that made our WalMart special and unique. Instead of gutting the place out and removing those friendly faces maybe they should take a poll and ask , the consumers, what we would like to see done before gutting the place. more
