Fun for the Keiki 7/26/2010

If you are looking for a great afternoon trip for the family, this is the spot! Really enjoyed the variety of the different fish. more

better for kids than adults 11/9/2005

I checked out the Waikiki aquarium on a recent trip to Hawaii. And while the staff is extremely friendly, it's easy to get to in Honolulu and the information is good, it's a lot smaller than I imagined. My recommendation is that it's much better suited to kids than to honeymooning adults. But definitely worth checking out if you're bringing children. more

Nice Attractions 10/4/2005

The Waikiki Aquarium has nice exhibits and attractions for all ages. They have an interactive aquarium where you can stick your hand in and touch the wana and the living coral. The seals always frolic and swim around or lounge on the rocks in their tank. One of my favorite exhibits is the jellyfish which look as if they are glowing in their tank. The Waikiki Aquarium is also a great place for holding weddings or special events. My sister got married and had her reception at the Waikiki Aquarium which is fun to be at in the evening. more

Great place for the kids and family 9/9/2005

I always take my kids and family here to see the sea creatures. They have the most unusual and rare sea creatures in Hawaii and some of the animals are imported from other countries. On display are corals, seahorses, jellyfish, local reef and deep sea fish, sea urchins, sharks, seals, etc. Very interesting. more

Honolulu's Aquarium - Average 8/21/2005

The aquarium seems to have improved a lot since I was a kid. Although still very small, they manage to have a hands-on star fish exhibit and other exotic species in their tanks. They also are available for evening parties for Aquarium members. You can have a dinner out on the open lawn at night then let the kids tour the aquarium facilities. more

Quality over Quantity 8/20/2005

I just recently revisited the Waikiki aquarium to complete a school project and was actually kind of impressed. Despite being small and having a few exhibits. The aquarium has a lot of quality exhibits like the multi colored clams from Australia; dragon seahorse; and nautilus. There’s also a tank where you can touch starfish and other sea creatures. more

Small but nice, great for weddings! 8/17/2005

parking: there's street parking, but you have to fight with beachgoers to get the stalls. I would not say this is easy walking distance from the hotels. I actually went to a wedding at the aquarium so the admission was free (residents pay $6, visitors pay $9) It is a bit small, I got through it with my wife and two small children in less than 1 hour. The kids loved it, while small it wasn't very crowded (well it was a wedding day!) I took a lot of photos with my kids in front of the tanks. The glowing tank with the jellyfish was really cool looking. The open lawn was a very nice setting for a wedding. I'd call them for information to see what they charge for facility use. more

Waikiki Aquarium 8/16/2005

The admissions fee is not that expensive. It takes about 1 hour to view the whole thing. They let you walk around and use this talking wand, which makes it a very educational experience. It is very good for school aged children. more

Waikiki Aquarium 8/7/2005

The place has a very convenient location. It is actually walking distance from the major hotels in Kalakaua Ave. in Waikiki. The aquarium is a good place to take the kids and see the natural fishes living here in Hawaii. It is not comparable though to the big aquariums in the Mainland. It is priced just right and even better if you can get hold of the discount coupons in the magazines. more

Waikiki Aquarium 8/7/2005

The Waikiki Aquarium is nice, but it's very small, and we cruised through it in an hour. It's no Monterey Bay Aquarium, that is for sure!!! There is still a lot of neat things to see, and a lot of the fish and critters you see are indigenous to Hawaii's waters. Some of the tanks weren't labeled as to who their inhabitants were, so that was also disappointing. Also, some were freshwater fish that you can buy at any tropical fish store (not Hawaiian natives.) A nice aquarium, but I would recommend saving your bucks for something a bit more spectacular, as it wasn't cheap. more

inexpensive; fun for kiddies 8/4/2005

An inexpensive entry price ($6/person) and a wonderful assortment of sea creatures make the Wakiki Aquarium a worthwhile place to go. Besides the enormous variety of fishes, they also have nautiluses, eels, jellyfishes, giant clams, sharks, seals, urchins, etc. The information provided about the fishes was helpful in terms of identification but not much more. A very cool addition was a dark room with aquarium walls filled with fishes that glowed in the dark. I would recommend especially for kids; they will learn much about underwater life and have a good time doing so. more

Nice Aquarium, but small for the Cost 7/11/2005

A nice aquarium & facility, but you can tour the whole space in an afternoon. Not great for the high cost. If you have been to large Aquariums on the mainland you will be disappointed. This facility does offer many marine animals that are unique to Hawaii, but lacks daily programs that make me want to return. Good if you have a coupon to lower the cost considerably. It is good, however, to rent as a great evening party location. Like for a wedding or baby Luau. Nice lawn and right on Waikiki's Gold Coast. more
