This is my 3rd Jetta from VW Santa Monica, and the experience was excellent as always! Moe Aboushaban was the consummate professional--knowledgeable, helpful, & personable. He helped me get exactly what I wanted and needed, and for a great price. And Cy Zamani walked me through all the financial paperwork and details with patience, expertise, and more helpful advice. Last weekend my wife and I walked on the VW lot to simply check out the cars, and we ended up purchasing a Passat. We were considering our options as my current lease was up at the end of the month, and we had visited a couple of other dealerships in Santa Monica with the intention of doing light market research.\r \r At the VW dealership, my wife and I met Anton Schuberthan who instantly became more of a trusted friend than a salesperson. He quickly helped us identify which vehicle was right for us, showed us how it was different from its competitors, clearly explained all of the features, and gave us pricing for leases vs. purchases under multiple different scenarios of our choosing. Anton was friendly, knowledgeable, thoughtful, and respectful of our time. More than that, Anton made the end-to-end process incredibly easy and enjoyable, which is something I have rarely experienced. \r \r If you are in Santa Monica and looking for someone to tell you about VW's or help you make a purchase decision I would highly recommend Anton Schuberthan. Saturday morning I called around to find a VW dealership that would fix/replace a flat tire on my brand new Jetta. The only one that would take me was Santa Monica. They were extremely busy because it was a Saturday and ...like I said....this was the only dealership accepting Walk-Ins with issues other than ""routine maintenance"". The service I received was exceptional. Emerson Molina was absolutely wonderful, very professional, and very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend the Santa Monica VW Dealership to anyone. When you go, definitely ask for Emerson Molina. He is the best!! more

NEW SERVICE MANAGER, 8 MONTHS BEFORE AT FORD more

criminal, fraudulent, plain old evil scum of the earth. The service department tried to rob us, but luckily we escaped. Here is our story; New EOS had traction light / button stuck to off, car started to pull left. Wife brought car to dealership. They fixed the traction button / light. But they continued; they said the car had ""severe"" damage to steering linkage, that alignment was 4 degrees off, that the one wheel was 2 inches back (camber) from the other. Service manager Andrew said it would be a 'very expensive repair' and that I should ""call my insurance company"" They said they would have to disassemble all steering linkage to find damaged part. OY! I asked if they saw any impact, rim damage, etc. They saw none. I had my mechanic call and pose as a relative. Mechanic said ""the service manager doesn't know what toe in, camber, or anything else about alignment. Immediately retrieved car, took to my mechanic. Guess what? There was no damage to my car. Didn't even need alignment. Have the report. Nothing wrong with car. Never was. So, it appears that VW of SM wasn't happy with the warranty money they got, they had eyes on the big bucks. No wonder, they work on commission. I was warned about dealerships, so I was lucky, lost a day's work, cab fares, couple hundred bucks. I feel lucky. Now it's payback time. Bought a new VW last month from VW Santa Monica. I came in to buy a car with 4 weeks of research, 4-5 quotes, and pages of numbers and data I easily found online. If you're feeling ripped off after buying a car, it's probably your own fault. I knew what a good deal was on my VW, and I knew what a great deal was. In the end, I got the great deal and it worked out for me and the dealership. Vante was my salesman, and he was great. Straightforward, helpful. He drove me to the detail shop to check out my car, hook up my bluetooth and hang out with me for a bit after I had paid for it. Unfortunately, this is a positive review on what could have been an extremely negative experience. I had problems with my car soon after taking delivery of it. Looking back it was a minor issue that appeared serious. VW Santa Monica managers and staff took it very seriously. Even going so far as to offer to unwind the deal or give me a different car. In the end, it was an easy fix and I kept the car. Haven't had an issue with it since. I'm sure it was an embarrassing situation for them, but they fixed it, and the fact that they offered several resolutions made me comfortable with them and the car. Would recommend them easily. I bought a 2005 Jetta a year ago and this experience has been an I.V. drip of aggravation since I drove off the lot. There is a 100% disconnect between the Sales Dept. & the Service Dept. The Service Dept is a nightmare. In 2008 the guy was incompetent & rude. The 2009 guy (last week) was incompetent. & confused. If you crave getting ripped-off and annoyed - go to SM VW. I have been leasing and purchasing cars from VW dealers since 2004. I only take my car in for service at SM but over that period of time the service department just got worst and worst. The employees are rude and lazy they looks like they are busy but they are not, its because they dont want to help you. I took my car in for an oil change and a brake light bulb replacement, they greet meet at first then just totally ignore me . I sat in my car for about 30 mins, then finally drove away and went to another dealer who took care of my car. I guess they did not see any major money coming there way. My car is a 2007 and thats all I needed that day. If their service is not improve people will not buy cars or use their service department. They need us the customers, we do not need them, we can go elsewhere, and be happy. If there was a 0 rating that is the rate Santa Monica would get. 0 for nothing done. Wow, I'm very suprised to see all the negative comments. The customer service was great since I walked in the door to Santa Monica Volkswagen. My sales rep was Artem Dasov and he was awesome! We were cracking up the whole time I was there! I will say, it helps to do your homework before you go to any dealership. Call around to different dealerships to see what's the best offer out there and then go in to a dealership when you're serious about buying/leasing. Like Art said, ""We're in business to sell cars not to keep them here."" I know Art and the GSM (whose name I forgot but was also super nice) will work with you. Within my family, we have leased or bought 5 cars from VW of SM over the last 5 years. The first 3 were OK, but after that, things went down hill. I leased a 2007 VW from them and agreed on a 3 year lease with the sales rep. (Vante is his name) I was in a hurry, because my car finally died and told him that we are not looking for any back and forth, just a good deal and to go home happy. When I got home, I saw that the VIN on the contract was wrong, so I called and went in the next day to fix the problem. I did not realize that when they corrected the contract, they also corrected the term of the lease to 48 mo. in stead of the 36 mo. lease that we had negotiated the day before. I did not realize this scam until 2 years later and when I called them to confront them, they said that I was wrong and that they have no record of this ever taking place. I wish I kept the old contract. As in other situations here, I too was treated with disrespect and a condescending attitude. This is the last time I am ever going to do any kind of business with VW of SM. They are a bunch of dishonest people. Pros: None come to mind Cons: Exactly that - cons! more

I went thu the internet dept. and my sales person, Bridget Stennis, was professional and knew her stuff!We did everything online and her quick response and attention to details was amazing. I have now leased two cars from VW SM. While I know I got a very good deal both times, it was only b/c I bargained and fought with the sales representative and read every single sentence of the agreement. They tried to keep my deposit and apply it to my downpayment, even after I requested that it be refunded. They then said the price would change b/c they had calculated my monthly lease payment against the deposit plus agreed upon downpayment amount. It was not until I mentioned fraud that they relented and said they ""might"" be able to give me the price that was agreed upon. At every step of the way, I was bullied and patronized. The only reason I went to this particular dealership is b/c they had the exact car I wanted on the lot, and so I knew I would be in a better negotiating position. Service department is extemely rude and their weekend hours are too limited. Sales and finance people will take advantage of you if you don't pay attention closely. Buy or lease from another dealership, not this one. Pros: There aren't any Cons: That's all there is more

When the finance manager has to ask, ""Do you want me to tell you a story, or do you prefer I tell you the truth?"", you know it's time to walk away. To add, the service staff is unprofessional, extremely disorganized, and condescending. My experience has completely turned me against VW. So if you're looking for a dealership that won't patronize you and having peace of mind is important to you...DO NOT BUY OR LEASE FROM VW OF SANTA MONICA. There are plenty of other ways to buy a VW car without having to go through this dealership.
