Vogel's Carpet and Flooring

Service, installation and carpet selection were great. We removed 8-year-old carpet and pad; Vogel's installed new carpet and pad. The 8-pound pad they put in is significantly less comfortable than what we took out. Wish that wasn't the case. Final product looks good, though. more

While the prices seemed reasonable and selection was good, our experience of the install has been a complete nightmare. First, they ran out of carpet, so our Thanksgiving deadline was missed. We had to wait three more weeks for the rest of the carpet. We had to ask them to put in temporary carpet because we kept stepping on the tacks. After they installed the new carpet, it bunched up, so we had to call and ask someone to come out and fix it. After they came out to fix it, a week later, it started to come up of the tack strip. After making endless appointments and consequently missing work, I ran out of patience to ask them to come back yet again to fix the carpet. I told Arnie about my frustrations and asked for a discount of 15%. He agreed, thankfully. Unfortunately, we have not been able to fix it because we have come to find out that you need to rent a special carpet tool to fix it. I called Arnie back, hoping they'd help out, but he refused and said they won't come back because he gave us a discount. He said unless we pay back the discount, they won't address any problems we might have with our carpet in the future. While I'm sure Arnie is generally a nice guy, he was very frustrating to work with because I was the one who had to call and follow up on when the carpet arrived, when it would be installed, and how to resolve any problems. I felt like a very badly treated customer once the install happened. I do NOT recommend anyone to go to Vogel's. more

We learnt about Vogel from the Checkbook magazine as well as the reviews on Judy's book. We dealt with Brad and he is great to work with. Their prices are competitive and the install crew is very hard working. We are very happy with the work they did and would definitely use them again. more

Vogel's is a great business to work with. I have found their selection to be more than adequate. Arnie and Brad are helpful, service-oriented, and their prices are very fair. I have more projects to bring their way, and I highly recommend them to anyone. more

When I think carpet, I tend to think of shifty-eyed hustlers with "liquidation sale" banners hung all-year 'round - not my idea of a happy consumer buying experience. That's why I want to give a Judy's Book shout-out to Arnie Vogel and his shop at 82nd and Aurora. My wife and I worked with Arnie a few years ago on a major remodel project, and I've just called him again for some follow-on work in our basement. He's always a pleasure to deal with -- exactly the opposite of the pushy sales type -- and his installers do an excellent job. Vogel's may not have the infinite selection of a warehouse store, but for a single-location business he deals in a suprisingly wide variety of flooring choices, across the full range of materials, styles and prices. We particularly like his selection of high-quality New Zealand wool carpets -- offering the same quality as major brands like Karastan, but at significantly lower prices. If you're in the market for new carpet and want to deal with a nice, honest person, I strongly suggest you stop by Vogels and talk to Arnie. more
