The reconditioned Vito's, which is opening tonight, cannot be judged by the prior reviews. The reviews were true for Vito's before it closed about a year ago after a tragic turn of events, but new reviews will need to be written for what it has become.
I went to a preview evening on Tuesday. Wow! They've done great things to the space. It's still the Vito's you might remember, but it's been washed and polished. New additions to the decor, like the awesome mural along the back wall, are in keeping with the spirit of the restaurant's original intent back in the day. The well trained and attentive staff are well put together and professional.
The cocktails are fantastic, as one would expect from this follow-up venture by the folks who brought the Hideout to First Hill. I didn't get a chance to sample the food, but it smelled and looked fantastic. I'm looking forward to going back this weekend for the full experience.
And, there's entertainment. The piano player from the old Cloud Room and Ruby Bishop, the legend, among others.
They've done a great job with restoring a Seattle landmark to its former glory. It's an asset to the First Hill neighborhood and to the Seattle restaurant scene.
