No matter where you are from... 7/17/2007

I was first attracted to this church when I was walking my dog on a Sunday morning and saw these people milling around outside drinking coffee, talking, and laughing with little kids running everywhere. These things are not unusual to see outside a church, but what made me pay attention was the variety of people I saw doing them...people with dreds, young, old, African Americans,Caucasions, Asians, Latinos - and as I got closer, I could hear such a variety of accents...there was all kinds of people from obviously different cultures. And I heard this incredible music coming out the doors. I was interested - or maybe ""intrigued"" is a better word. I went home, threw on some more decent clothes and went back (not that I needed to because it is very casual). That was 9 years ago, and I have never left. I love this church for its diversity, mission, authenticity, values...but most of all, I love this church because of its people. Pros: Variety of people and talent within the church Cons: Parking more

A place to call home 7/6/2007

I moved to Houston 6 years ago knowing no-one here.\r Now I have a community of literally hundreds of friends, who encourage me to love and serve Jesus week by week. The mid-week Life Groups are a great way to get to know people better. The Sunday services are down to earth and relevant. I like it lots! Pros: Friendliness, Welcoming to people of diverse cultures and generations more

My best experience in a church! 7/6/2007

I've attended the Vineyard for 9 years. I love it and hope to spend at least another 9 there. I've attended many churches over the years, and I feel that the Vineyard really understands the concept of a church community. Past churches that I've attended really only cared if you ""attended"". But the pastors/people at this church really care about your well being! Be it physical, emotional or spiritual, they are willing to help. They do not shy away from hard or uncomfortable topics. If you need help, they will find a way to get that help for you. This is truly a place for everyone. more

\r Lots of programs for every one! \r \r I over heard two Rice students talking in the foyer before worship, one asked the other for his thought on the church. His reply, ""its authentic"". Need more be said?\r \r \r more

Laid-back church going after God in the heart of the city 6/22/2007

I have been attending this church for over a year now and I will keep attending because the people are welcoming and genuinely interested in seeking God for others and themselves. The dress code is casual and the music makes it easy to worship Jesus (and it is still entertaining!). This church has been in the Heights for over 30 years and is easy to get to by car or public transportation. Try it out! Pros: 5 minutes from downtown, friendly people, smaller congregation, bilingual Cons: Can't get lost in the crowd! more
