This Bar fills their top shelf with well 4/22/2010

I went to this bar for an OutFest after party and ordered Don Jullio blanco tequila neat. It was well tequila in a Don Julio bottle so told the bar tender that he may have poured the wrong drink(I was very nice about it and asked him to open another bottle-because you CANNOT sip well tequila) He refused and gave me serious attitude. I find it offensive and it also ILLEGAL to fill top shelf bottles with well liquor. I get it times are tough but when a costumer calls you on it you should have the decency to fix it. So I will never go back. You can't charge $12-$15 for well tequila and then fight with the customer. Pros: its cute inside Cons: everything else more

Great place! 2/7/2009

I had my birthday party here a week ago and everything was perfect! The owners were amazing. They went out of their way to make sure everything went off without a hitch. The drinks were great and so was the music. I cannot recommend this place enough. Seriously, you will have a great time. Thank you Vine Bar! Pros: everything Cons: cannot think of one more

Rent free House Music and Great Bartenders Thursday Nights at The Vine Bar 8/10/2008

At last a place in Los Angeles that plays House Music and you don't have to pay to get in. I know the Vine bar has a hipster rep, but i went to the Vine bar on a whim, and on a Thursday and was pleasantly surprised. No cover and house music. The DJ's weren't Cerrado perfect but brave. And endearing cause they knew they were experimenting in the face of the crowd. But I enjoyed it. The line for the bathroom was a little long, I've never seen so many guys and girls check eachother out while waiting. That's not true. There are those moments at the standard downtown. The bartenders are friendly and as fast as possible with the crowd. I'm just excited that I can be in Hollywood and not on The Cahuenga Corridor, and enjoy house music. The one down fall is that the DJ's tend to cater to the crowd. They'd be better of if they stuck to their guns and brought the crowd along with them. T Pros: Rent free House Music Cons: The DJ's sometime play to the crowd. more

Used to be great... 12/19/2005

This place used to be a great spot with acoustic shows on sunday nights for a while. The improvements to the interior are actually brilliant, but the music is way too loud and the same sh!t crowd of hipsters from the beauty bar and the rest of cahuenga end up here on Saturday nights. On the plus side the bartenders (plucked from other cahuenga bars) are friendly to serious drinkers, and dont have any patience for hipsters. Every other night of the week the place is pretty empty, but great for a mellow outing. Pros: Interior, Good bartenders, Good drinks Cons: The crowd more

FONDUE!!!! IS VERY VERY GREAT~!!!!!! 9/30/2005

Now Serving Hard Liquer 3/8/2004

I loved this place. A friend took me here the past weekend. Being from San Francisco, it had that cool vibe I could find at 111 Minna. The fondue is delicious and easy on the pocket. And not sure if it's a new thing, but I had a gin and tonic, a Cosmo... so they serve alcohol now!!!! Pros: Crowd, Music, Food Cons: , A little small more

*Delicious Fondue* 2/2/2004

The place had a very laid back vibe. The service was wonderful - friendly and attentive. The dinner and dessert fondue were ***delicious*** and well priced; the small size pot was more then enough for my friend and me and only 10-12 bucks. It came with tons of veggies + bread for dinner and cake + fruit for dessert. I have recommended this place to all of my friends. Pros: delicious fondue, great service, nice ambience more

Need Booze 8/19/2003

My buddy held his birthday party upstairs in the private room. The room is awesome, with bean bad couches and tables, and the fondue platters kept on coming. It's a cool place to go if you can get the upstairs room. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it. However, it would be even cooler if they served liquor. Major, major downfall of this spot. Pros: Private room, Fondue, Music Cons: Lack of liquor, Overpriced more

Sake, Fondue & Much More! 4/27/2003

Whoever finds something wrong with Vine must not know how to appreciate LA nitelife. The fondue was amazing (Spinach Artichoke & Basic Chocolate) and so was the service - very, very attentive and friendly. The cocktails were so good - you could tell they really used their imaginations when creating these drinks made with sake. Definitely worth every minute we spent here and can't wait to go back! Pros: The fondue, Inventive cocktails, Convenient Cons: None! more

GREAT, GREAT FONDUE 1/20/2003

The fondue here is SOOOO GOOD! We got the Mediterranean fondue which is pepper jack (YUM), olives and sun dried tomatoes. VERY GOOD. And we got the meat skewers (they don't fondue meat here, just cheese) which were served in a yummy sauce (we got variety plate which I recommend, shrimp, chicken and steak). And, we got the carmel rocky road chocolate fondue for dessert. OH MA GOD, WOW. But...the atmosphere is off, there really aren't tables to eat at, it's truly a BAR. Totally ecclectic crowd and staff in a somewhat grimy area. But, go for the fondue, it's worth it! Pros: Fondue, Fondue, Fondue Cons: Atmosphere, Seating more

Hip, Happening, Overpriced (of course!) 12/22/2002

Vine has a great atmosphere: awesome lighting, cool little table/booth areas, a great bean-bag make-out room upstairs. Their fondu is great, and when split among a goup of people, a pretty good value. The drinks, however, are a rip-off. $7.00 for a mojito that doesn't even have any HARD LIQUOR in it!? (All their "cocktails" are made with sake.) Next time I'll smuggle in a bottle of my own bottle, and just have the fondu. Don't expect to chat during dinner though: the music is so loud it's impossible. Service is also a bit spotty...especially if you sit in the booth behind the bar. The servers can't see you and tend to forget you exist. Oh and one last thing: no sign out front. Look for the address. Pros: Great fondu, Good music, Yummy sake drinks Cons: Overpriced, Can't talk over meal, Service sketchy more

a good time 10/13/2002

I had never heard of Vine before, but I went last Saturday for an engagment party. It was a great time. The service was great and there was virtually no time spent waiting for drinks. The band was good and there was a DJ as well. The only drawback is that they don;t have hard alcohol. Pros: Good atmosphere, DJ and band, Good service Cons: Crowded in walkway, No Hard Alcohol more

great food great service great place 9/15/2002

i simply loved it. it's a great place i was there for my b-day with my friends and we alll had a great time. the food was excellent and the waitress was really really nice. they have a great list of wine and i love the cheese fondue. and for dessert we had two full bowls of chocolate fondue. i'm french so i know about cheese and fondue... more

fondue is a do. 8/16/2002

Vine is a nice break from the sweaty, packed-out club scene in H-Wood. Ignore the skinny hall vibe by the front bar (which looks a little too Swedish/IKEA to be super comfortable) -- the drinks/bar staff are great; the fondue is melty love. DJ John got us shimmying in seconds flat, and no one spilled the cheese pot. Pros: melted chocolate, nice staff Cons: mixed crowd more

Fondue and Sake a Go Go 7/8/2002

Went there once on a Friday and then on a Saturday. Friday arrived around 9pm and there was less than 10 people there. We immediately found a table (for 4) and went through two cheese fondues and an unbelievable espresso dessert fondue. Amazing. Even without hard liquor they have some tasty cocktails. Try the vanilla hazelnut martini (based off sake)...tasty! It slowly picked up around 10pm. Saturday...got there around 10:30. Crowded. Forget about doing fondue unless you plan on carrying your tray with you. No seats. The dance floor was bumping with freaks. Still a cool vibe. Felt more like a club whereas the first time had a restaurant feel to it. All in all, great place for drinks/food/dancing. Pros: Tasty drinks, Great food Cons: Large draw more

  • In Short
A glowing arrow points out this secluded bar's existence. Inside, black chandeliers dangle from deep red ceilings as denim-clad patrons sit at the bar chugging beers and sipping cocktails. Behind the bar, pseudo ostrich-skin walls are slathered with large antique black-framed mirrors. Visible in its reflection is the upstairs lounge overlooking the bar. This simplistic indoor balcony has an identical mirror, black leather lounge seating and a more intimate setting. Rock and techno music flows from the speakers below as candles flicker in the darkness.
