New Manager = Poor Store 5/2/2009

Recently a new manager took over the store and since that time, our favorite local grocery store has gone downhill so much that we've decided to shop somewhere else. We've shopped here (great deli, wonderful cheeses and wines and nice clerks) for over 10 years. Several of the items we always bought suddenly disappeared - in particular Diet Peach Snapple. We asked about it several times over a period of six weeks, but it's still not there. The Edmonds QFC, on the other hand will CALL US when a product we asked about comes in, so that's where we go now. I'm sad that the store has changed so much, but it sadly has. more

Delicious, Fresh, Interesting & Lots of Organics! 9/1/2006

I LOVE Village Market Thriftway! It is a little bit more expensive than the competitors around but they also offer a large selection of natural and organic produce and other grocery items. They have a great cheese and olive bar, a well stocked and more upscale deli than most, a gorgeous fresh meats and seafoods department (especially considering the size of the store) plus everything else that one looks for when they are shopping in general. They have unique sundries, a decent wine and beer selection, lots of gift wrapping ideas and wares. Just a lot of eye catching, cool things in one place. The staff is always friendly and when they have free food samples at the deli or fresh meats section, the samples are interesting things like coconut shrimp instead of cut up Hot Pockets or burrito bites>.< What impresses me most is that they truly seem to have an equal or greater representation of organic, natural and whole foods than most places. The mainstream 'norm' isn't at Thriftway. You can buy unsulphered coconut shreds, candied rose petals and violets, gourmet salts from all around the world and many other unique items along with the regular toilet paper. I could go on and on but I love this store! more

Good store, a little bit pricey 11/24/2005

We love shopping in this store. Well organized aisles and friendly staff. However, it always a little bit pricey compared to other competitor stores. more

Great neighborhood grocery store 10/4/2005

Thriftway has one of the best services, and the quality of their food is top notch. Everywhere around their store is alway clean and neat and the amount of stock on shelf is always full. The workers service is superb and every department in the store always has the freshes groceries possible. My favorite place around the whole store is their seafood department, they always have the freshest and most in season seafood all the time for a very good price. The only downside to this grocery store is that the price is higher than most of the normal grocery stores, but that's because they quality of food is higher than most of the other stores too. So if you prefer quality over price than this would be a great grocery store for you. more

high quality grocery store. 10/4/2005

This is a very nice grocery store, if you want to buy fresh clean ingrediants you should definately shop here. The customer service is great and there sooo many diferent varieties of foods you can find here. There are so many different ethnic ingrediants you can also find here. They also have many organic items for the healthy people out there. they also have a sushi bar too+ their own wine spot. The only downside to this grocery store it is that the groceries are more pricey than other grocery stores, but that is because they have a better quality of foods. So if you prefer quality over price then you should definately shop there. more

Cheese, wine and organic/natural food 8/3/2005

This is a great grocery store for throwing a barbecue or entertaining with specialty food. It does seem to be a bit more expensive than a larger chain for everyday (non-organic) shopping, but I've slowly converted to a full time customer since the organic prices are so reasonable and their selection of specialty items is so good. Village Market Thriftway isn't quite as natural as a PCC or as big as Whole Foods, but it really is perfect for a great local grocery store in the N. Seattle/Shoreline area. It has a huge wine and cheese section with specialists. They helped me with a few matches for my last holiday party. Their produce department is great. It is big, but they seem to mostly have what is in season so you know what you are buying will be good. The guy at the seafood counter is super helpful and always has a recipe to share for the seasonal items. I also have a tendency utilize their housewares department. They have a tiny boutique of dishes, cooking utensils, cutting boards, gourmet soaps and all kinds of fun stuff. If you live in the area you really should check it out. more
