NEVER AGAIN!! 7/31/2010

The absolute worst experience I have ever had in ANY restaurant, ANY WHERE... the Chef and the Manager need to go back to Hospitality 101 OR get jobs in another field.\r Food was mediocre, even for the reasonable prices. Service was very slow.. Waitress would disappear for large blocks of time... maybe because it was ladies night and they didn't really want to deliver... even that was forgivable, not a place I would rush to go back to but... the real story is how the Chef and Manager handled this incident ....\r \r We, a group of women, all over the age of 50 were celebrating a friend's birthday when another group of guests had an issue with our noise level. We were loud and other guests raised their volume to be heard over us, which just added to the volume. Another group of guests, seated at the opposite side of this relatively small room yell over in our direction, that they couldn't hear their conversation. We all lowered our voices. A few times after that a couple in our group got a little loud, we were there to celebrate, and an occasional loud laugh now caused a stir with this other group. \r OK, so Chef comes out, asks us if we have any problem.. ""nope"" all good here. Then he goes over to the other table and when they must've complained about our noise level, he came over and YELLED at us like we were little kids!! NO polite reprimand, NO request to quiet as we were disturbing the other guests. An argument ensued and we were demanded to leave!\r The stupidity and audacity of the Chef AND Manager to fuel the fire instead of quell it was outrageous... I don't care how good the food (and it was nothing special!!! ), lousy service and a management that doesn't know how to handle guest relations is totally unacceptable. I've lived in Winter Park for over 20 years, am a professional with travel experience all over the country as a Senior VP in a marketing firm for which I am the foodservice industry specialist, so I've heard it all.. .\r NEVER set foot in that establishment again!! (Nor will any of the other women I was with.) If the Manager were to say 'good riddens' that's fine with me, he aught to read Danny Meyers' book ""Setting the Table"" to learn how to treat guests in the HOSPITALITY industry!!!!\r Pros: location, ambiance more

Don't plan a party here! 5/22/2008

I should preface my review with the fact that my occupation is event planning. That said, this restaurant was awful to work with...\r \r We just hosted a luncheon following our daughter's baptism at the Bistro. The setting was very pretty but the overall experience abysmal. Once seated it took 25 minutes to get beverages to our group, not even water at place settings to make the wait bearable. Please keep in mind this was at 2 PM and restaurant was empty. Additionally, rather than having the servers take orders guests were given pens to write their names then circled their selections on the menus. To me, this closely resembled the experience during a hospital stay. Perhaps the most disappointing part is that when the food finally arrived not one table was served at once. Each table with a party of four had two attendees with their lunch and two without. I was extremely disappointed with everything and felt that the owner who was present made no attempt to resolve any issues. I do not recommend this restaurant at all for any function, EVER!\r Pros: Pretty setting Cons: Poor Service and overall expereince more

Good not great 5/10/2003

This is obviously one of the hotter spots on Park Ave in Winter Park, and the food was definitely good. I had the fish special (swordfish) and it was excellent. My dinner partner had the tuna which was good but nothing special. We also had the crawfish poppers appetizer, which I wouldn't recommend. They were overly fried and breaded, and you could barely tell the crawfish were there. Though the slightly spicy sauce was good. Pros: Location, Good people watching, The special Cons: Noisy, Food not innovative more

Well-dressed dates sit with their pooches on this chic bistro's outdoor patio. Many patrons stick with pleasing appetizers like fried calamari and stuffed grape leaves. Standout...
