Best

I love little mom and pop restaurants, and this little gem is in that category of the few still out there in the city. Pros: Great food and service Cons: ---

Worst

Adequate cuisine, but do not consider patronizing it during peak dining hours. The plastic potted plant in the corner will grow fruit before you are seated.

Good, Authentic, Old-School Italiano! 3/8/2007

Villa Romana is a fabulous old-school Italian Ristorante that's been around since 1955. Pros: Great Italian food Cons: I want to eat every Dish I saw coming out of the kitchen. more

good food, poor delivery...just remember, follow up with a question! 3/7/2007

I've just returned from Villa Romana... having dined with a good friend, am in an overall sense of contentment, however, the lasagna was cold, which was promptly corrected (and i got more broccoli to boot!) which led to profuse apologies by Tony II. Later the bill was delivered with a gift card. As it turned out, it was the wrong bill, and not our gift card. After some confusion, the correct bill was delivered along with a promise of our own gift card. We paid, and patiently waited 15 minutes for the gift card, when we finally had to mention it to our waiter, upon which we waited another 10 minutes, to no avail. All in all, good food, slightly retarded wait staff, and a lack of delivery of the goods... more

Great Service, Average Food 2/21/2007

Just came back from dinner and had a great overall experience. We arrived and were promptly seated and waited on. The waitress was so nice and attentive; she definitely added to our dining experience. We didn't choose the $23 dinner special - one appetizer, one soup/salad, one entree, and biscotti for dessert - but it definitely seemed well worth it if you have a big appetite. Instead, I had the spagetti with meatballs (yum!) and my boyfriend had the prawn fettucine with pesto (bland = disappointing). The portions are huge so it was definitely worth the price tag. Overall, we're big on service and Villa Romana definitely delivered. The food was about par but we would definitely come back to this cozy restaurant again. Pros: service Cons: parking more

Always consistently good 1/27/2007

Everytime we go in with the family or out of town guests or friends, Villa Romana is always the perfect venue. The food, service, and atmosphere never ceases to impress! tony and his Papa are wonderful restaurateurs that love their restaurant and love pleasing their guests. Sam, Tony's head waiter has been there forever, and does a fabulous Job! Pros: Great Italian Restaurant more

Very nice experience 10/28/2006

It was a very nice experience at this restaurant. We all enjoyed the food and drink, and especially the fun service staff, who were comical and thorough at the same time. The Bar was stocked with some great liquors and aperitifs which really ensured that my friends could ask for anything and get it! Pros: Bar more

Very Tastey, and Authentic. 10/25/2006

I really liked their fresh homemade bread and they give evryone a taste of their pizza bianca at no charge as soon as they seat you. The other thing I really enjoyed was their marinara sauce. It tasted authentic and it was not overpowered by any one of the ingredients used to make it. In other words, you wouldn't just taste Garlic. So, it was just great. Great, Tastey food. Pros: Tastey Food Cons: Parking more

Unbelievable Food and service. 10/24/2006

We had no knowledge of Villa Romana prior to yesterday, and when we initially walked into the restaurant we had no idea what great food and service we were in store for. i mean the food was just fabulous. I never tasted such a great Linguini Alla Diavola like this one here. It was spicy but not overwhelmingly so. The server was a nice young lady who seemed to love working there. Overall experience was two thumbs up Pros: Food Cons: Kind of crowded more

Surprised 10/22/2006

I can't believe this restruant has gotten the amount of good reviews that it has. I've had their food a couple of times and frankly Amicis is WAY better. The Pasta with Clams that I ordered the first time had no flavor and was extremely oily. The 2nd time the Pizza was cold and the ingredients were of a fairly low quality. Not to mention that the manager at the time Tony was rude and of little help. Frankly there are a lot of restruants in the city you should patronize before you try this one out. The service and food quality are very poor. Not worth your time or money. Cons: Poor quality, poor service, limited menu. Poor excuse for Italian food. more

Worst Delivery experience EVER 10/22/2006

My fiancee and I had ordered from Villa Romana before and the food was less than stellar, but we thought we might have ordered the wrong things. We decided to give the restaurant another chance last night, and it turned out to be an awful mistake. When we called in our order, we asked for a total, and the order-taker didn't answer us. He merely said ""Your order will be there in an hour"". We asked if we could give our credit card number, and the guy said "" your driver will deal with that, it will be an hour"" and then hung up. After an hour and 30 minutes, we called to check on our order and the guy who answered the phone curtly told us, it would be 20 more minutes. After 30 minutes more, we called again and they said it should be coming soon. When my fiancee explained to them that we had ordered the food almost 2 hours ago and asked to speak to the manager. the manager said ""We're very busy. Our dining room customers come first"". There was no apology or offer to give us a discount, just a continued proclamation of ""We're very busy"". When the food finally arrived over 2 hours after we ordered it, our pizza was cold and our salads were soggy. We would NEVER, EVER order from this restaurant again. more

Elegant Banquet Room! 9/30/2006

My very dear friend just got married this past saturday, and the Wedding Rehearsal Dinner was held in Villa Romana's very elegant banquet room the day before. The room is non-pretentious, yet elegant, and very functional as it was able to accomodate our group of 40 quite comfortably. The servers were first rate and very enthusiastic about their restaurant, Villa Romana. the food was very authentic and delicious! I will definetely be back soon. Oh, and the owner, Tony is very cute! Pros: Food Service more

Wonderful little restaurant 7/18/2006

My husband and I absolutely adore this little restaurant. The cuisine is very authentic and traditional Southern italian, and very yummy! I also really liked the owner and his son, they are both very courteous and knowledgeable about all things Italian! Pros: Warm Feel Cons: I live too far more

Very cool brick pizza oven 7/17/2006

We tried this pizza upon recommendation and found it to be very good. The pizza oven is made of brick, and i was told that it's the original one from the 50's. the pizza chef must be the owner because he took great pride in not only preparing the pizzas, but at making eyecontact with everybody, and asking ""howsa the pizza, ehhh"" Very charming guy! Pros: Pizza Oven Cons: ? more

Mama Mia!!! 7/11/2006

I am completely amazed at how such a small little neighborhood pizzeria/trattoria can be so fabulous, and consistent too boot! The food and service are very authentic and never inconsistent. This is my 3rd time there and it was great all 3 times! Pros: Service and Food Cons: Hard to get a table/reservation more

Be careful how they charge you 7/9/2006

We were six and so we ordered two Antipasti. They came with quite a bit of food and we thought, Wow what huge portions. Later on we get the bill and see they charged us for 6 of one of the appetizers and 4 of the other. If you look carefully on the menu it says (per person) next to price. But when ordering they didn't ask us about how many we really wanted. Seemed a bit shady. I also printed out a coupon from their web site the day we went and it was already expired. So good food and atmosphere, just watch out for what you've ordered! Pros: Authentic Cons: Service more
