Vig 27

I fell in love with Vig 27 because it was chic without the attitude so when it came time to throw my best friends little birthday get together, Vig was the perfect choice. We didn't need a big deal--we just wanted to make sure all 40 people got in, see one another and have fun. I called to see about a list. 3 days later, I get a call back and am told everything will be fine. I call to confirm a few days later and Jodi, their ""event planner"" tells me that I have to hand over my credit card so that if people do not show I will pay a ""cancellation fee."" When I explain I just want people to get in and I am not going to lay my card out for 40 people, some of who I do not know, she snapped ""Then you won't have your party here!"" and hung up on me. I just celebrated my 25th birthday on Saturday there and I had a wonderful time. We had reserved tables in the back room and there was enough space to dance. The front became crowded pretty quickly but the space opens up towards the back and there was plenty of room. The drinks were wonderful and the atmosphere and tall ceilings gave it just the right open, chic atmosphere for a good time. Thanks to the staff for being very accomodating! I'll definitely go back. I went to a birthday here and at first, was impressed with the place. As the night went on, the bar continued to get packed to the point where you are constantly being shoved. It then became impossible to get a drink or go to the bathroom. The temperature also rose significantly since it was so packed. The bouncers obviously didn't care and continued to pack everyone in. Definitely don't recommend this place. more

This past Saturday night, January 28th, we celebrated my husband's 25th birthday and we had a truly amazing time. I wanted to thank you guys for helping us make this a true night to remember. Everyone of the 50 somewhat people who attended had an amazing time and commented on how wonderful the place and staff were. Everyone was a pleasure to deal with and we could not have asked for a better experience. From the moment I booked with Jodie... all the way to our last round of shots (thanks, Jason) was hassle free, easy and comfortable. Everything from the music to the waitress service was impeccable... and was just an absolute pleasure! Pros: EVERYTHING! Cons: NOTHING! more

I have only good things to say after my birthday party at Vig 27 Sat nite - the staff, music & ambiance were perfect speed for my friends & I! My party was perfect! Thanks to Jodie who was super sweet in helping me plan my event & to Jason & the gang who took such great care of me & my guests! You guys are totally cool & I really appreciate the local friendliness & excellent service! We will be back! more

I went here this past Friday. The music was off the hook! They played everything from Cindy Lauper to Ray Charles and to Kanye West. Drinks were not only great but priced reasonably. The best part was the staff. There was zero rudeness and all warmth and attentive bartenders. Great place to go and to have a party. The back room is just the perfect size for 20 to up to 100 people! Let me add there is zero attitude at the door as well! Pros: music, dancing more

This new club took the place of the fomer Aubette - a classy, upscale lounge for young professionals to relax and enjoy a glass of wine, mellow lopunge music and conversation with friends. The new incarnation, Vig 27, could not be more opposite. The music was appropriate for a Bachelorette Party, the crowd was unbelievably cheesey - total bridge and tunnel, the wine list was horrendous, the cocktails were watered down and the food was inedible! I would encourage anyone considering going to Vig 27 to seriously reconsider and choose ANY OTHER bar in Manhattan. You will most certainly have a far better time. more

This place was very cool. I went after work and had drinks and it was cool. Good drinks, good music good crowd. The back room is it's element and I booked a party there because I am getting the space reserved so that will be cool. more

We went to Vig27 for my birthday last weekend and it was PACKED. The atmosphere at this place is great and the music was good too. However, it was SO crowded. This ended up making the bar staff slightly rude and cause the drinks to go from being a really good value (they cost $10 so you should get a decent drink and DID initially) to just a slightly below-average value (a $10 Jack and Coke should not taste like complete Coke) - you get the idea. Other than these issues, I think it is a good place to go and hang out for the evening. Just be sure that if you want a group to show up that you reserve a seating area ahead of time. I can't even begin to explain how much I loved this place! I loved it so much that here I am writing my frist review EVER just because I think everyone needs to know what a great place VIG 27 is! I threw my best friend a party last weekend, and the week before I was working with the staff trying arrange for 20-25 people to show up. The staff was wonderful! They were so helpful, and they even gave me the idea to have cupcakes delivered to the bar so that they would be waiting there for my best friend! Whether you just want to hang out with your friends and have a few drinks (p.s. they're food is AMAZING) or if you want to throw your friend a little birthday bash - it's the place to be! This is officially my new favorite spot! more

I went here with a bunch of friends for happy hour a couple Thursdays ago and it was so much fun that we ended up staying until 1 am!! The DJ was fantastic and we were dancing and partying with the bartenders the whole time. This is exactly what that neighborhood needed - a sophisticated, hip, and super fun spot. If you're looking for the dark, staid, woodsy Cafe Aubette on 27th Street, forget it. The boys from PS450 and Punch & Judy have swooped in and completely redone the place as only they can. Now a sleek, cool lounge with refreshing new color, lighting and surfaces, Fig 27 mirrors its around the corner sibling, PS450 with a yummy menu of small bites, great drinks and wonderful staff. The dead wood from Aubette is gone in more ways than one! You'll find classic PS450 dishes like the sliced steak atop creamed spinich on crunchy little toasts and new items like brie poppers on drizzled strawberry-infused sauce. So when the crowds at PS are just too much to take, head south a few blocks to this welcome addition to the hood. And yes, those hunky managers do make appearances! more
