I was in Newport for a week and ate a lot of pizza. Via Via has the best pizza in Newport hands down. As I write this I am craving their BBQ chicken pizza and that shrimp and pesto is incredible too! This wood over they use only uses wood as fuel and nothing else. My pizza' was cooked in 5 minutes and it was perfect. The place is a whole in the wall on Thames st but don't let that fool you. Don't bother getting a slice, get yourself a made to order pie instead because you will be glad you did. more

It is funny reading the negative reviews here about Via Via because it is obviously the competition like Pizza Hollywood writing all this negative stuff. Someone who worked at Pizza Hollywood told me the owners write trash on all other pizza places in the area to make them look good when PIzza Hollywood. Notice one of the complaints that were all made on the same day below mention Pizza Hollywood. Notice all the reviews were written on the same date. I guarantee that is Pizza Hollywood pretending to be an unhappy customer. I can tell you that if you order one of Via Via pizzas then you wont be disappointed. I have been eating here for over 10 years. Try the buffalo chicken pizza or the shrimp and pesto. Yummy more

I don't know about the seafood at Via Via, but the pizza after bar closing is terrible. The pizza is completely undercooked with cold cheese and raw crust but somehow the bottom of the crust is black. After being duped twice this summer, I vowed to never order Via Via after the bars close again. Via Via's pizza uses fresh & high quality ingredients which results in a mouth watering pie. The wood burning oven gives the crust a distinct smokey flavor. It has a slight crunch on the outside and light and airy on the inside. It's soft enough to fold and eat like a high quality NY pie without the crust cracking and shedding all over the table. The homemade sauce is basic yet very distinct . The fresh ground tomatoes with fresh oregano and garlic will have you salivating before the pie hits your mouth. The cheese simply melts in your mouth putting together the final touch of the perfect pie. If you like greasy pizza with enough cheese to make the surgeon general pause, go to Nicholas Pizza up the road. It's your typical ""greek pizza"" with enough grease to saturate your pizza box. If you like high quality pizza that melts in your mouth, don't pass up the chance for a fresh pie at Via Via. If you're going on a weekend night after 10pm be prepared to wait or you can call ahead like I do and bypass the line for your fresh pie! Yummy! Pros: Fantastic pizza! The owner of this place worked with Wolfgang Pucks head pizza chef and has captured that taste of Wolfgang plus many original creations. The restaurant only uses the much more expensive beef pepperoni and beef bacon. All of the ingredients are so so fresh and of high quality. I have spent over 20k eating at this place in the last 15 years. I am a hooked die hard fan. All the pizza is cooked right on the bottom of the wood fired oven. Most of the local places around here use a pan and a lot of oil in that pan. I swear the fat content of via via pizza must be 1/2 compared to Nicholas Pizza and others which i like also but i try to eat healthier and eliminate that extra oil . I dont know what these other reviews are talking about but viavia is the best place to eat on the island the place not only has the best food but is very clean there always cleaning in there and the people working are so friendly always have a smile on there face. i love going to eat there. you should try the buffalo pizza that my all time fav. and now they have seafood mmm mmm mmm i LOVE it its so good and fresh next time you want something good to eat try via via out you wont be sorry! more

Via Via is not one of my favorite dining areas. it just doesn't send a good vibe on family and friends, because you can't even eat in the restaurant! and when you do order they sometimes take over an hour!!! i guess i'm just used to good service and good food. but that's what you get at nikolas pizza. Cons: no indoor seating, not the best service, slow deliveries! more

Via Via is a great place to go after a Friday or Saturday night of heavy drinking in Newport. The place is always absolutely mobbed at 1am on weekend nights, not because the pizza is great, but because it's the only place within a drunken walk from the bars. Of course, the pizza tastes great when you're wasted. Try it on a sober morning or afternoon and you will quickly be dissapointed. The crust is chewy, the cheese is rubbery, and the pizza for the most part lacks taste. Also, the staff working behind the counter is miserable...I have yet to hear a friendly word out of their mouths.
