EXECELLENT! Best vet I've ever visited..... 3/6/2012

After moving to south Dallas two years ago, I needed a new vet. I can't say enough about Dr. DeJong. He was very thorough, took his time, and answered all of my questions in great length. I've read negative reviews regarding Dr. DeJong. Please note this is NOT an animal hospital but an excellent every day vet perfect for check ups and vaccines. Additionally, his prices are the best i've found in Dallas. There are the weekend clinic that offer dirt cheap vacs but you stand in a parking lot for hours and get no exam. I found that the cost was only $10 more than the weekend clinics. Below is a list of the charges I paid for the yearly vacs: Well Animal Exam: $18.00 Canine Distemper / Hepatitis / Leptol: $28.00 Rabies: $15.00 Total: $61.00 I also purchased a years worth of HeartGuard: $114.00 more

Appalling Experience in an Emergency 1/6/2010

Appalled 01/04/2010 ...canNOT recommend... My dogs were attacked by a pit bull and another dog on 12/30/09 near the Stephens Forest Park Golf Course. 2 precious Havanese were badly hurt and traumatized along with myself. I called VetStop from the golf course, and the tech said to bring them in. When I arrived around 4pm - Dr. DeJong said he could not treat the dogs, because he closes at 5pm. He said I would have to drive to Iriving for treatment. I was pretty distraught and not that ""clear thinking"" at the time - so I begged him to see them to see if OK... he took them in for a moment, and then advised I needed to call friends and others for help, as he could not treat due to office hours. Fortunately - a friend, who uses METROPAWS at Skillman & Live Oak called THEM ~ and they were happy to see my precious puppies. The ""tech"" who answered the call at VetStop offered to drive me... I'm EXCEEDINGLY grateful to Kimmy. I will transfer my files to METROPAWS. It seems Dr. DeJong does not have a ""heart"" for animals...OR he just wants to do office visits, dispense medication, and administer shots... No Stars! Pros: Convenient to Oak Cliff... Cons: No Heart... more

To Be Avoided 12/29/2008

A number of friends have quit using this clinic after life-compromising misdiagnoses. Given the difficulties of veterinary medicine, mistakes are unavoidable. That said, a steady stream of anecdotes eventually becomes data-- highly suggestive that you find another vet. In general I would say that Dr. Vladi DE Jong is a bit low on information and tends to shoot from the hip rather than confess ignorance. There is one benefit to the practice, if your pet is seriously ill and needs care, it is unlikely that you will be seen in a week or more thus saving the life your animal as you visit a vet outside of the 'hood.' If you can look beyond the plate tectonic scheduling, clinical malfeasance, and lack of equipment (like a veterinary scale), you will find Dr. DE Jong confident, at times charming, and always knowledgeable even when he is not. Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Everything else more

Great Pet For Short Term Problems. 7/31/2008

I have a westie with a skin sever skin allergy and I've tried many doctors to see what they all tell me. He gave my westie a check up and then gave her some medicated shampoo (which didn't work), antibiotics, and wanted to give her a steroid without ever telling me the reprecussions of them (like liver disease). He then instructed me to return in two weeks. He basically wanted me to keep coming every two weeks. This was not acceptable because he didn't even try to do another treatment or try to see what is was. more

The only stop for my dogs 11/19/2007

I have been going to Vet Stop ever since I moved to Oak Cliff over two years ago and they have taken super good care of my dogs and have always been very reasonable. They are very thorough and highly informed and they are very good about keeping me informed as well. I wouldn't ever go anywhere else. I have been to many vets and I am convinced that this is the best in dallas without a doubt. Pros: the best of everything , period. more

Best Vet in Dallas and Ft. Worth! 7/10/2007

I have known Vladi back when he was right out of college. He really has an aptitude working with animals. He has cared for my many dogs over the years and especially my cats since I was in grade school. I am going to miss him since I am moving to AK here in the next couple of months. I remember when one of the Dallas police dogs got shot and Vladi was right there doing what he does best, keeping animals healthy. Pros: Hours, Location, Friendly, reasonable price, keeps up with the latest treatments more

Great Oak Cliff Vet 10/12/2006

Vladi is a great vet. You can tell he really cares about both you and your pet, and takes the time to thoroughly go over any questions you may have. He won't recommend any unnecessary treatments. The cost is reasonable. It is a small clinic and they really get to know you and your animal(s). Pros: Small clinic with friendly people. Cons: Small clinic so they probably don't have as many high tech devices as other larger vet offices might. more
