I went to The Verve Lounge for a cut and some color, and Laura Rafidi was my stylist. She was absolutely amazing! She knew exactly what she was doing, with little direction from me (she knew what suited my face/bone structure and the type of hair that I have). Also, the color was magnificant!! I continue to get compliments, at least daily, on how the color ""looks so great with my skin tone""! I'll definitely go back, and I'll DEFINITELY recommend others to Laura! Pros: great atmosphere!! Jenn Strand gave me the best haircut I've ever had! 5/24/2007

While visiting CA, I asked my brother who he recommended for a haircut in Beverly Hills and he recommended friend Jenn Strand at the Verve Lounge. I told her what I was looking for, and she came up with the best haircut I've ever had! Jenn, is super creative and her head massages are incredible! I guess I'm going to have to fly in to CA for my haircuts from here on out! Pros: Jenn Strand did an amazing job on my haircut! more

I was impressed from the very moment I walked into the quaint and inviting salon, by the relaxing environment provided by friendly and professional staff. Jenn Strand is an artist who does her work meticulously from start to finish. It is rare to find someone who can cut extra long and thick hair that is also curly. Jenn did a spectacular job which is evident from the many compliments I have received since the moment I walked out of the salon, not only regarding the (layered) cut, but the blond color as well. I highly recommend Jenn, as well as the Verve Lounge... I couldn't be more pleased with this experience and the outcome! more

The Unforgettable Experience! 5/22/2007

Dwayne Is by far a ""Master of His Craft"". Everyone should make an appointment and go to verve lounge at least once. I started going to Dwayne 8 years ago while living in San Diego. Someone relaxed my hair and I ended up with a hole at the top of my head and a sandwich bag full of hair. That's how I came to Dwayne. To this day I still make a 70 mile drive to have him do my hair. When he cuts and colors your hair it looks so natural. Everyone working there is so nice. You really feel pampered. And the salon is so beautiful and perfect. It is truely an experience. Finally, someone who can cut curls 5/20/2007

Jenn Strand has become my absolute hero. I have super coarse curly hair so it is always quite a challenge to find someone who knows how to handle curls. Jenn did my hair last week and what a treat! I've had the same cut for the past several years so Jenn offered some suggestions on what we could do with both the color and the cut. I loved the end result and have received several compliments over the past couple of days. The atmosphere is great and they even serve you hot tea while you are waiting for the color to kick in. A really great experience. A friend recommended the salon but more specifically he recommended a stylist there named Jenn Strand. I made an appointment and was so happy I did. Not only did I really love what she did with my hair but it was a whole experience. Wash, Massage, cut and style. She is great. I won't go anywhere else. A haircut is more than just the cut. Jenn Strand truly has the experience down to perfection. Her welcome and attention to detail is easily 10 out of ten. Her talent cutting hair is another 10/10. The head, neck and shoulder massage completes this experience and takes Jenn Strand to 11 out of ten. more

Best Hair I've ever had 3/8/2007

I have never been happier with my hair since going to stylist Jenn Strand. As a woman with long hair, I'd never felt I had found he right cut that is stylish but low maintenance. Enter Jenn Strand. I do not communicate well in the language of hair, so I tend to talk in abstracts. She listens and gets it. I've loved my cut ever since! When she colored my hair, again all I could do to describe what I wanted was say ""Like this, but different"". My color is perfect! I look more like the me I see in my head. And to top it off, the atmosphere at Verve Lounge is so welcoming. It's like slipping in to a secluded haven for an hour or so. Pros: very welcoming and stylish atmosphere, staff is great. Cons: made me wear a smock I didn't need. more

Amazing! 3/1/2007

Jenn Strand has been cutting my hair for about a year now, and I'll never trust anyone else. She's amazingly gifted as a stylist, and I've never had so many compliments on my hair. I have typical hair for a guy, but she always knows how to make it stand out and look cool. Not only is she great at her job, but she's incredibly welcoming, and gives an amazing head and neck massage. The Verve Lounge is really comfortable and upscale as well. Pros: Parking in the Back, great haircuts, full service, friendly people. Cons: none really. more

Great Hip Hairstyle 2/26/2007

Jenn Strand gives a great haircut. I just spent several months in NY, and was unsure if there was a place in LA that would be able to cut my hair as cool as the lower east side of Manhattan, but Jenn Strand's cut was even better. Not only that, but Verve is a great space, very comfortable, great people and I even got a neck massage. 5 stars all the way. All I told her was that I wanted chunky layers, and the next thing I know, I had a very cool hairstyle that has been complimented every day since. more

Who wants to have fun getting a haircut/style? 2/20/2007

If you do, Jenn Strand is your gal! She is professional and high energy while relaxed and confident with her skills. I was going to another girl and unhappy with the results when I talked with Jenn and she suggested what the problem might be. So, I decided to give her a try and haven't looked back since. If you want compliments on your hair (yes, even dudes get the compliments when she cuts!) then don't even think about it! Just call for her! She is so much fun just be around it's like the hair style is just a perk. She's also phenomenal at the art of listening to what you want and getting it out of your mop. The surroundings at the Verve Lounge are super hip contemporary style and an inviting comfortable space in which to hang. Oh, and let's not forget the importance of massage. She gave a scalp/neck/shoulder massage that made me forget the day was stressful. Trust me. I could go on and on about how fantastic my experience there was, but I suggest you stop pouring over these reviews and get to Jenn Strands chair. You will love the results and the experience! more

She's so fab, and so is my hair 2/19/2007

Two words: Jenn Strand. I came in with a pretty sad excuse for a haircut...for some reason, I had it in my head that I wanted to grow out a white-man's fro, 'cept it didn't really work. At all. So after about 4 months of looking stupid, I went in to see Jenn, and she reconciled the situation pretty quick. When I sat down, I realized that it was a bit hard for me to explain the kind of cut I was looking for, so, being somewhat of an artist, I drew it on a pad of paper and gave it to her. After the cut was finished, Jenn and I had a bit of a laugh, because she had nailed the style EXACTLY. It was just what I had sketched. She's creative, talented and confident with the blade (important for actors). And be sure you ask for the 5-star treatment, because she'll give you a neck and scalp massage that'll put you into a 6 hour coma. Thanks, Jenn!! Pros: Creative atmosphere! Very clean, upscale. Excellent facilities (seemed new) Cons: parking wasn't too bad in the neighborhood behind, but nothin' beats a parking lot more

Great colorist and extentions 1/8/2007

I FOUND DENISE ON THE INTERNET THREE YEARS AGO. MY HAIR WAS 70% GREY, DRY, FRIZZY AND UNMANAGEABLE. SINCE DENISE HAS BEEN DOING MY HAIR IT IS SILKY STRAIGHT AND FEELS WONDERFUL. THE COLOR IS NOW A NATURAL GOLDEN BROWN AND I LOVE IT. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD A PROBLEM FINDING A GOOD STYLIST WHO UNDERSTOOD MY TYPE OF HAIR. EVERYTIME SOMEONE WOULD TELL ME ABOUT A NEW STYLIST THEY REALLY LIKED, I WOULD IMMEDIATELY MAKE AN APPOINTMENT; BUT I WAS ALWAYS DISAPPOINTED. NOW I WON'T LET ANYONE BUT DENISE TOUCH MY HAIR. THE VERVE LOUNGE SALON IS BEAUTIFUL AND UPSCALE BUT THE STAFF THERE MAKE YOU FEEL VERY COMFORTABLE AND THE ATMOSPHERE IS SO PEACEFUL. i WOULD FOLLOW DENISE TO ANY SALON BUT THE VERVE LOUNGE WAS A FABULOUS CHOICE.
