First off, I am the boyfriend of the woman who's hair came out AWEsome. She had had a few ""not so great"" experiences, so I took to the web to search for a salon with good reviews. I tripped over Vartali, and I'm so glad we did. Sweet Nora, the asst. mgr., slotted us in for the same day (it was St. Patty's day, so the madness was in the streets, not the salon!) with Jim, the colorist mentioned in the review I found. Jim has MANY years of color experience, and works morning, noon, and night. While not at Vartali, he does NBC early morning shows for the staff and guests of the show, sometimes doing as many as FORTY in a day. We left Donna's hair in his capable hands, letting him decide the color, highlights, EVERYthing! Less than three hours later (color, cut, AND blow dry), we were out. I sat in on four hour marathons as a boyfriend, and let me tell you...it's NOT fun. But Jim and Vartali have this down to a science. Donna's cut was left in the very capable hands of Antonio and he did a great job a s well. Mr. Vartali, the owner, could not have been more hospitable as well, taking great interest in our satisfaction. I read a review stating they ""charge too much"". But - I know, even as a male - you get what you pay for in this lifetime when it comes to this kind of thing. And to be VERY honest, we found Vartali to be reasonable, especially taking into consideration the amazing experience we had. FIVE stars to this 57th street staple in the neighborhood. You cannot go wrong here, and you will be thrilled with your results!!!
Pros: Experience, experience, EXPERIENCE!
