Knowledgable & Approachable 8/24/2012

Dr. Vardaka has been my gynecologist for the past 8 years. I have never had any issues with her. She has fit me in for "emergency" situations on more than one occasion. The entire office staff is nice and approachable. I often mention all medical issues to Dr. Vardaka before my primary care physician. She is also very generous with samples for prescriptions. I recommend her to everyone that is looking for a doctor. more

Not worth the risk 4/23/2011

Vardaka was referred to me by a family member. In the beginning my visits were great, she was personable, but then as my pregnancy progressed I started to endure an hour or more at her office. Thinking she was just great and that so many people used her, I stuck her out. She talked me into an induction and when I arrived at the hospital I was already in labor. A quick break of my water and she was gone. When I was ready to push a mere four hours later, my nurse tried in vain to get her to come back to the hospital. After two hours of holding, the nurse finally started to allow me to push, and Vardaka arrived just in time to deliver. After enduring the horrible delivery, the very worse that happened was discovered a few days later. To my horror, four days after my delivery I discovered that she had stuffed me with an entire roll of gauze, I presume she did it while she was stitching me up, and left it inside me. Over the phone she instructed me to remove it myself, then I had to endure an extremely painful examine in her office so she could check to make sure nothing else was left in me. She is not worth the risk! Thankfully my health has not been affected, and I count my blessings I escaped healthy from her incompetent care. more

Incompetent 10/10/2010

Due to incompetency on postpartum treatment, I highly recommend you to read all the reviews before making this "Doctor" your gynecologist. more

I USED to recommend her to everyone 8/30/2010

Now not so much. My daughter is expecting twins and was 2 days shy of 37 weeks. The babies were almost 6 pounds and she had them stop the labor. My daughter has one baby breach and one transverse so we have to do a c-section. She is trying to wait to 39 weeks to make the hospital bigwigs happy. Everyone better hope everything comes out alright. I am a nurse and I will push for my daughter and son-in-law to own her and the hospital. No more recommending her to anyone if she is not a patient advocate. more

Terrible birthing experience resulting in health concerns for my child 11/4/2009

I had my first son in 2007, who was delivered by Stacy Hudepohl. She was wonderful, and I had a great delivery. Unfortunately she was let go by Dr. Vardaka, but I decided to continue going to Dr. Vardaka's office. This was a horrible mistake. I recently gave birth to my second son, and had a terrible experience. Dr. Vardaka ordered for me to be induced at 9 PM on August 12th, so she was aware of the possibility that I would go into labor that night. I was hypersensitive to the induction medication, so she was called and told I was in labor around 12:30, but she did not come in. She was called again at 2:45 because my son's heart rate was going down a lot after each contraction, which was dangerous for my son. They wanted to her to come in and see if I should have a C-section. She did not come in. She was called at 3:30 am because I was dilated to 10 cm and she said "oh should I come in now?" to which she was told yes. I was forced to lay on my side with my son's head in the birth canal waiting for her to come in. She said it would be 15 minutes. The nurse kept calling and every time she said she was almost there. At 4:20 (after almost an hour of pain and more epidural being administered) the nurse delivered my son. Vardaka came walking in at 4:30, and said "You couldn't wait for me?". So not only was she not there when she should have been , but then she made that awful comment. My son was born with a huge hematoma on his head because he sat in the birth canal for an hour when I was ready to push waiting for her. He had jaundice for 2 weeks because his body was trying to reabsorb the blood in the hematoma. He is now almost 3 months old and he still has a big calcified lump on the back of his head, and we don't know if it will ever go away completely. He may have this for the rest of his life because she couldn't get herself out of bed to come in. She claims it was because my labor was short, but I think that 5 hours is plenty of time. I would strongly discourage anyone from seeing Dr. Vardaka more

A knowledgeable doctor 2/11/2009

Dr. Vardaka has been my ob/g for 15 years. She's delivered all 3 of my children, and will deliver my 4th and final in a couple of months. I have the utmost respect for her as a physician, and I thoroughly enjoy her as a person. more

Marianna Vardaka is my doctor 10/4/2007

I have been a patient of Dr. Vardaka for the last 12 years. She has delivered all 4 of my children. I trust her with my life and the lives of my children. I have recommended her to family and friends and will continue too! We all have skeletons in our closet and as long as her professional life stays professional then her private life should stay private. What she did is none of my business and I will continue to be her patient. more

Doctor arrested after attacking former lover 3/29/2006

Dr. Vardaka was arrested over this past weekend on charges of aggravated burglary, assault and resisting arrest. According to the story in the 03/29/06 edition of the Cincinnati Enquirer police officers at the scene felt that she was obviously under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol when she broke in to the home of a married former lover and attacked him while his terrified wife hid in a closet. After she was arrested she struggled with police and attempted to kick the window out of a cruiser. I wouldn't recommend this doctor to anybody. more

Don't go to this doctor 2/20/2006

After being a patient for 5 years, I naturally continued my care with this doctor once I became pregnant with twins. Wrong move! She had no idea what to do with me as I was high risk. Once I was put on bed rest, she never called me to check on me. Once my labor started, the hospital called her and after 12 hours of labor she somehow could not get to the hospital in time. I gave birth at 7 a.m. on a Sunday and her excuse was that she couldn't get there because of traffic! That was just a lame excuse when she had enough time to stop at Starbucks before hand. So, she never made it to the birth and she charged my insurance company. She also was 3 hours late to discharge me from the hospital, again with a nice hot Starbucks in hand. Do yourself a favor and don't bother with this doctor! more
