whats wrong with this picture 1/25/2011

Today I attempted to put in an aplication at the thrift store on reading rd ,after filling out the aplication I was able to talk to a manager and was told that i would be unable to be considered because of an 5 year old felony conviction. Now this is not a new thing to me but it is very dishearting when it is at a place that claims to be a sevice to the community and they wont even consider qualified people for position. Even more disturbing was that fact that I had to speak with 6 different people to even get the application because of all the only spanish speaking people working in the back ,now i have paid my debts to society an still not able to take care of my familly due to places like this. If a place like such that has used and donated things will not help the community in witch in does business then it should be shut down for hiring illegals just as many other businesses are. I have volenteered my time at many places and donated clothes and furinture but Valley Thrift will never be on that list of places I will help or suport. more

ignorant people 1/13/2011

First of all stop being ignorant and racist. do you have any other words to describe someone. woooppty doo you didn't get a game system for what $1.99. Stop being cheap!! She was doing her freaking job. more

Hate It 1/7/2011

This is the first time this has ever happened to me. I was at the Valley Thrift Store on US 42 today around 11:30 this morning. I had in my cart several items including a Vtech Game system, this included the system, controller and games (also all of this was taped together with clear packing tape). There was a blue price tag, (stapled around the power cord) with a 1.99 price. As I was checking out- the short, fat Hispanic (female) clerk, said "I be back" and walked away with the vtech game system - I was left standing at the counter for several minutes. The manager did walk by and I quested about this and she said, the clerk was in the back speaking to the price manager. The clerk came back empty handed and said sorry, game to cheap - we cant sell!! What? Are you serious?? I was so furious and I still am. I believe that this short, fat Hispanic clerk took the game system for herself. I will NEVER shop at this store more

Not giving back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 12/29/2010

These people do not give very much to the charity whose name they are accepting donations for. Its more of a profit organization. more

walking machine 10/29/2010

do you ever get walking machines if so how much please help thank you louise more

Was great...now just OK. 4/18/2010

At one point this was the absolute best thrift store...anywhere. They stopped organizing their stock, so now it's not nearly as fun to shop. The clothes are still organized, so really that's the only reason why I go any longer. It used to be if I was interested in looking at the board games, you'd go to the board game section. Silver? The silver aisle. It was easy to browse and stumble upon great finds...especially for things you liked. Now you can't find anything. It used to be so much fun to browse the different sections. Now it's a pain. I can't think of any good reason they would have made this change...I know I spend a lot less money there now. more

Always a find 4/3/2010

Without fail, will always find something to take home for a great price! If you have a couple hours to dig through racks and imagine the possibilities, this store is for you! Bought a pair of king size pillowcases only to turn the material into a pair of kitchen curtains. :-) Love this store. more

Used to be good - sucks now! 2/9/2010

This used to be our favorite thrift store until they stopped organizing their stock. They mix all the kitchen, glassware, knick knacks, Christmas and so on together now (started late 2009) so you can't really SEE anything because it is so jumbled up into a HUGE mess. Our whole family boycotts them now and we only rarely go there. It takes too much time to shop now because you can't FIND anything! Too bad. I used to love the place and went just about every week! This applies to the Fairfield store as well. Sigh. more

Reading Road Valley Thrift Store 1/18/2010

Good: Love the selection. Always find plenty!. Bad: Wish they had land to have a larger parking lot, especially today entire store was 50% went back and on the 3 time, I found a spot to go in and shop! If you don't get there early this happens!!. Improvements: More parking!!!. more

Best one around! 12/11/2009

I have shopped at this perticular thrift store since I was probably fourteen and it is most definatly my favorite one ever. The prices are low, all of there goods are in very good condition and are things that people would actually want. They have a wide varity of products, ranging from electronics, to toys, and then to clothes. They also have furniture and home decor. The empolyees are always kind and helpful, and never rude. The store is very organized and has things divided up so they are easy to locate. They even have a dressing room so you can try on clothes. Basicaly, what I'm saying is, if you are going to shop at a thrift store, make it this one. more

Love it!!! 8/22/2009

This store is AWESOME!!! The prices are NOT high at all. I bought a pair of BRAND NEW jeans (Old Navy, tags still on them) for $2.99!!! more

eh 6/14/2009

lots of stuff... lots of outdated electronics... good for little girls clothes and glassware more

Great Store 11/11/2008

This store is not for poor people. The Vietnam Vets sell the merchandise that they collect in their donation boxes to the Valley Thrift. Keeps their overhead down by not having to have a store etc. So I am sure they don't care who shops and spends there. more

Hidden Gem! 10/12/2008

I go to the Valley at least 2-3 times a month. I LOVE IT! For the person that said the prices are too high... I don't agree. You can find a pair of jeans for $5, a shirt for $3, shoes for $5, bedsheets for $2 and the list goes on an on. They are a MUCH better deal than Goodwill, where you will pay at least $7 for a sweater. The down side is that you have to get there early or the place gets PACKED and you won't even find a parking spot. more

wrong phone number- really! 10/6/2008

The phone number is for St Vincent DePaul next door. There is no affiliation from one business to the other. Both stores have great deals, just do not call this number to get the Valley Thrift Store. more

Valley Thrift Store - loved it! 9/30/2008

Yes, I heard a few well-dressed folks complaining about prices ($4 for a blouse, come on, that's not to complain about!). Most clothing was in great shape, and there was a lot of variety. I was looking for a fancy evening dress not overinvest - got a great one for $6.99. Also a cool pair of leather never-been-worn shoes $5, designer tank $4, reversible silk tank top $1.50, Hawaiian dress $3, blazer $4. Great variety - ladies wetsuit, designer beaded evening dress $15, toys, purses, bedding & more. more

Valley Thrift Store 9/5/2008

Valley Thrift is a great store, but, the owners should keep in mind that most of the people who shop there are poor. Their prices are too high. This is not a non-profit organization. It seems to me that they are getting rich at poor people's expense more

it's great 7/28/2007

my house is for sale, and many things i've used for staging come from here. some new, some used, incredible bargains like serving pieces under $1, bedcovers for $5, the list goes on and on. i found cork rolls - 16 square feet for $2 each. also, when i had a boarder come stay, i used valley thrift extensively for all the 'fun stuff' that i wanted to welcome her with, but not spend oodles in case she didn't like something. the listed phone number is incorrect. i haven't been able to find the right one. more

SELECTION - SELECTION - SELECTION 8/19/2005

If you are looking for a new pair of pants (or whatever) – that is right I did say NEW – Check out Valley Thrift on Reading Rd in Evendale, just north of Cornell. Most of the times when I shop at the VT I always find brand new items with the original tags- don’t know where they get them but they are there. If you like to ‘bargain hunt’, this is the place for you. Everything you could possibly want can be found here. Just be forewarned, you could spend 3-4 hours wondering the clothing aisles alone. The used book selection is outstanding and I never have trouble finding the right toy for my 2 ½ year old. However, one down side is that if you would happen to find just what you have been looking for and it doesn't have a price tag - it may take a while for them to reprice! Stop and find your bargain!! more
