Editorial review from Citysearch 6/1/2013

-- RIP OFF --\r \r Previously I had like VF Pizza and had been a customer for years, however recently they raised their prices and still can't agree on what the new prices are. I got sticker shock when I went to pick up pizzas on 5/31/13 for friends coming over and found that they rang me up for 10-20% higher prices than advertised. When I politely pointed this out to the manager, he was defensive, combative, and did not budge on his maximum pricing even when confronted with his own printed menu there in the store with lower prices:\r \r Printed Menu: Plain Large Pizza $11.99, One Topping Large Pizza $11.99\r Online Menu: Plain Large Pizza $10.99, One Topping Large Pizza $12.99\r Online Ordering: Plain Large Pizza $10.99, One Topping Large Pizza $13.24\r Actual Price Charged: Plain Large Pizza $11.99, One Topping Large Pizza $14.24 more

more of a dinner place vs. lunch 10/15/2011

After visiting here for an early dinner with my parents and enjoying the veggie pizza (very fresh!), I decided to take my friend for lunch. We viewed the menu for about 15 mins and still weren't sure what to get. Great menu but not a lot of lunch options unless you're up for sharing. We decided on the chxn parm grinder. A little skimpy for the price of $10 and it didn't include fries. I recommend going there for dinner only.\r Experienced friendly service. more

Horrible business, dishonest, calculate your own bill 7/5/2011

We have tried patronizing Valley Forge Pizza a few times, seeing how they always send coupons in the ValuPak home mailings and even mail out their own menu. After having to haggle with them about them CONSISTENTLY OVERCHARGING us and about using their own coupons, e.g. ""sorry, that's for eat-in only"" or ""sorry, that's a misprint"" we have decided we will never eat there again and tell as many people as possible why. The last time we tried to get take out from them we ordered from a menu that was mailed to us that very same day. When my girlfriend picked it up she immediately said ""I think they overcharged us again!"" I pulled out my calculator and we calculated our bill using the both the menu we ordered from and the one they stuffed in our take-out. Sure enough they overcharged us by 23%! She went back in and showed them the overcharge and the despicable owner wouldn't honor the printed prices, only stating that about the menu: ""it's a misprint."" Do not patronize these shylocks, if you do prepare to be gouged even moreso for their already overpriced fare. more

Best Restaurant In The Area 4/5/2011

I ate here the other night with my family and we were seated in the new edition which was fantastic. It was warm just like the inside and the decor was beautiful. The food was also great, like always. My family and I eat here all the time and we love it. Great food and great ambiance! Definitely the ""in"" place in the area! more

Beutifully done all year patio 2/13/2011

I stopped by a few days ago, and was surprised by the opening of the new outdoor that looked beutiful, from the fire place to the roof designs and the whole ambiance. All that combined with excellent food and service. Highly Recommend it! Great job Valley Forge Pizza!! more

Best Restaurant in Town 2/10/2011

I was in the other day for dinner. The hostess sat me in the new addition. WHAT AN EXCELLENT JOB THEY DID!! I was very impressed. The fireplace and the lit candles and the whole decor in general really gave off a mediterranean flair. Not to mention the food, as always, was superb. If youre looking for a great dining eperience with great service I highly recommend this restaurant. DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE NAME, IT IS CERTAINLY A FINE DINING EXPERIENCE!!! more

Bad Service 1/7/2011

I ordered online and it was to be ready at 6:48 pm. I arrived at 6:50 and was told by Valley Forge Pizza that they had trouble with their fax machine so the order had to be called in. Due to the Zuppler(online ordering) representative's thick foreign accent Valley Forge Pizza was unsure of the order. I showed them the online receipt of my order though my phone and was told it would be a few minutes. After waiting 20 minutes I got my 2 pizzas and went to my car. In the car I looked and discovered that they had not given me the pizzas I ordered. I returned the pizza and the manager and or owner apologized and told me because I would have to wait for the new pizza to be made he would give me the mistake pizza for free and that I should give him both to keep warm above the oven. I waited for another 25 minutes for my pizzas. Once my correct order was finally done I was only presented with 2 pizzas. When I asked where the other one was that I was promised the manager and or owner told me ""Sorry the kitchen staff ate it."" Having waited 45 minutes when the place was not very busy and being promised a mistake pizza to make make up for it by the manager earns Valley Forge Pizza 1 star for customer service. more

Snail-Paced Service 6/14/2010

My wife and I live in the area, and reluctantly decided to try eating here for lunch last weekend. We sat outside, and each ordered paninis. A panini should take 5 to 10 minutes to prepare and serve. Ours took 35 minutes. During our wait, our waitress did not refill our empty waters, and iced tea. She was nowhere to be found. Here's the kicker: my wife finally spotted our waitress, and made eye contact with her. The waitress saw our table had no food on it, and looked astonished to see this, and then, about 3 minutes later, our food magically appeared. Bottom line: clearly, our waitress screwed up, and did not put our order into the cook. Did our waitress apologize? No. She acted like nothing wrong ever happened. We were so taken aback by the fact that it took 35 minutes to prepare two paninis, which entail 2 pieces of bread on each sandwich, along with some lunch meat, that we almost left, and thought about just leaving some cash on the table for the iced tea. But, we stayed, got no apology, and left with a poor opinion of the service at this place. Pros: decent panini Cons: very slow service more

Best Italian Food. 10/12/2009

i love the food, service was great.. i enjoyed eating in the most beutiful outdoor in the philadelphia area!!! ITS PRICELESS!! Pros: food, service, and clean more

Where are the deals? 7/17/2009

I found this place originally on Bythezip dot com. I use that site constantly to find deals locally. This place really didn't have any good coupons and I guess that is why they aren't getting as many reviews on Bythezip dot com as other businesses. I still enjoy this place, but would like some more deals.\r \r This place is saying they are the number 1 rated on City Search... out of 30 people only, are they kidding. This place and their new restaurant in Limerick are average at best but over priced with an attitude. #1 pizza in the Inquirer for Philly.. WTF are they talking about. I hate when restaurants talk about themselves like the are great. I can get 30 of my 20 of my friends to say I'm the best also. Everywhere the are advertised has their own bragging in it.\r \r This place always puts out coupons but never any great deals.\r \r Wake up and smell that there are other places with better and cheaper food. Pros: OK food Cons: Over priced more

Amazing Dish all around 3/5/2009

After eating lunch at Valley Forge Pizza we were pleased with the food we ordered, the service was great. The place is so clean you could eat from the floor. The way the restaurant was decorated was absolutly gorgus, i think i found my new spot. I highly recommend this place. Pros: Great food, Clean restaurant more

amazing!!! 3/2/2009

Valley Forge Pizza has the best food in Phoenixville. Their salads are amazing, great hoagies, great pasta, etc. The owners and the staff are all so friendly and helpful. Great quality control (thanks to the guy that usually works the register). I give this place 5 stars!! more

Pizza was all hype and no bite... 2/22/2009

The big sign outside said, ""The Best Pizza in Philadelphia"". I'm pretty sure citysearch was comparing VF pizza to frozen grocery store pizza. Expect a huge Eagles-type letdown. After my experience, I will continue to frequent other local pizza shops but for all of you sign lemmings out there, here's what to expect:\r \r Taste - The lone highlight. The ingredients all worked well together. It was enjoyable even though all of sausage was stacked piled in the middle.\r Crust - Not inspiring. Better than a slice of Domino's but not a step above DiGiorno. \r Size - A large pie is 14"". The size of the box says it all - you're really getting a medium.\r Cost - $13 for ""large"" pie with one topping. It's really $20 cause you will need a side if you split it.\r Service - I've received more warmth ordering a cheese steak in South Philly Pros: taste was good Cons: size, crust, service, value were all poor more

Most ignorant Owners/Workers and the food is overrated. 2/9/2009

It's good but I would rather go somewhere else and be treated like a customer. I called to order for pick-up and the guy acted like he had no time for me. When I arrived to pick my pizza up, they forgot to make it. Instead of being nice about it, again they were very rude. In times like we have today, people should be happy that customers are walking into their store. Go somewhere else....trust me! more

worst place in philly is better 2/5/2009

you people have to get out more this place is terrible & the owners are rude, dont get any seafood dishes not fresh at all more

Dynamite food and fair price- diamond in the rough 10/18/2008

You can't go wrong with ordering anything on the menu. The specials are great and the service is quick, reliable, and polite. Hands down best food in the Phoenixville area. Couple that with the food being at a reasonable price and the joint being a BYOB and you'll be a return visitor after one taste. The name does not do this restaurant justice- it sounds like just a pizza place and it most certainly is much more. Pros: Great food, quick, reliabe service, nice price point Cons: Name of restaurant - but don't judge a book by it's cover more

best pasta ever!!! 10/9/2008

I have been going to Valley Forge Pizza for many years. Valley Forge Pizza has incredibly great food. It has recently been voted for best pizza in the whole Philadelphia area by Citysearch and best pasta in the whole Chester County by the Philadelphia Inquirer and I can't agree more! I happen to know the owners and they both work 24/7 to make the restaurant an enjoyable experience for all of their customers. The store is absolutely spotless and the service is fantastic! We are very lucky to have such a great restaurant in our area...it can go from very romantic with it's great atmosphere to a nice family night out. The food is great, service is awesome, and i highly reccomend it! Just to comment on a previous comment i have read: I think it is very rude to comment on the hard working guys that run Valley Forge Pizza. Both of the owners are there constantly becuase they really care about their customers. They would never make someone feel as if they had ""three heads"" and they work very hard to plese everybody. .. oh and by the way.. i find them very cute with their charming accents..they just make me want to keep coming back! Pros: everything! Cons: none! more

great food arrogant owners 10/7/2008

My mother and I went to dinner at Valley Forge Pizzeria a couple nights of go for the first time and I have to tell ya the food was good and the service was ok. However, the owner (short fat older guy) and the guy that works the cash register that is always there, younger foreign guy,t hat speaks broken English need to go. Both of them are the rudest and most arrogant people I have ever met. First off, the guy working the cashier gave me back the wrong change. I was suppose to get twelve dollars change instead he gave me two dollars. At first I thought it was an honest mistake until I turned around and told him he gave me the wrong change, he looked at me like I had three heads then turned to a server and said ""where is the ten dollars I put on the counter"", trying to imply that the server took it when I saw him put the money in the drawer . He then reluctantly gave me my ten dollars while mumbling something under his breath. It was probably the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant and its a shame too because the food is good, service is good and it does have a nice atmosphere but the nasty attitudes need to go. If only it could go under new ownership. Pros: great food Cons: arrogant owners/ feeling of being rushed more

Best pizza anywhere 9/7/2008

When I moved out of Philadelphia to Valley Forge, I was worried about finding a good pizza place in the 'burbs. The locals suggested Pizza Box, which was awful. But luckily Valley Forge Pizza opened soon after I moved - and the pizza is fantastic. I have brought many people there from all over the Philadelphia area, Pennsylvania area, and out of state and everyone is blown away by the pizza. The crust is thick but crispy, the toppings are fresh and tasty - and like some others have mentioned, the sauce is to die for! I consider myself lucky to live nearby so I can eat there whenever I want! Pros: fantastic food, great service, lots of menu selections Cons: wish the place was bigger! more
