I have been using this vet clinic for a few years now and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for competent, honest, Knowledgeable and friendly service. On top of that,...

Great place...if you're made of money?.

Editorial review from Citysearch 5/20/2014

Dear Minneapolis area pet owners,\r \r Don't ever take your animals to the VCA Cedar Animal Hospital. I brought in my perfectly healthy, elderly dog, they took him into another room and they brought him back to me with what I now know was a dislocated hip that requires a $1,500 surgery to repair. Initially, they told me it was just a bad reaction to a vaccine. When I went in a second time, I was told it was likely a floating kneecap. Now too much time has passed and my dog will likely use 3 legs for the rest of his life. \r \r Also VERY EXPENSIVE! more

Great Vet Clinic 1/11/2010

I have been using this vet clinic for a few years now and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for competent, honest, Knowledgeable and friendly service. On top of that, they have some very good prices on their services compared to alot of other places in or around the area. They don't overcharge or charge you for alot of unnecessary services. Pros: fair prices, good service, friendly staff Cons: none more

Out for profit, not for animals 11/10/2008

As many petkeepers, I have a modest budget, but still want the best care for my animals. If this is you, don't go to this veterinarian. I phoned them because I had a dear pet frog who had lived to the end of her years, and I wished to have her pain ended. When I conveyed this to the clinic, they let me know that they could oblige---for $150.00. They had an aggressive list of charges, including an "examination fee", a special fee for the euthanization, and additional charge for cremation. I contacted a pet care provider in St. Paul who agreed to see us the same day at a cost of $30.00. Pros: location Cons: greedy more

really expensive 7/28/2008

True story: Took my dog in with a cracked tooth. Was told after examination it would be $500 to remove the tooth. I replied, "Wow, $500 to remove a tooth, I had one removed a few years back for $100!" It was explained to me that the tooth was in a problematic place (lower jaw where the jaw was weakest), hence the price. I paid the exam fee and went across town to another vca hospital in St. Paul. Pros: 2 blocks from my house Cons: need to get a 2nd mortgage to pay their bill more

Love Should be In their Title 6/8/2008

We have used this clinic for 25 years for guinea pigs and now many, many cats. We have been through traumatic times and just routine care. I can not say enough good about the care from all the vets for both the animals and their human owners. I can not imagine going anywhere else for the care of my furries. more

Money matters more than care 5/26/2008

After spending thousands of dollars at this vet clinic for routine as well as emergency surgery (and the staff was kind and helpful), I one day needed an ear infection checked out for my dog - which they did. I have a vet credit card which didn't process correctly and they publicly shamed me and kept me and my dog hostage for about an hour. Eventually they "let me go" with a payment plan and much admonishment; I paid them promptly. However, before I could "break up" with them, they wiped me from their mailing list. I had had one emergency surgery for over a thousand dollars done there, and had paid up front... If they want to do business like that, fine. But they lost a loyal customer (I'd even recommended their services prior to this incident). I think if they are going to be like that, they should require payment before any services occur. And had I not been able to pay over 1000 dollars the day my dog needed it? I'm assuming they would have turned me away... If you need a payment plan, or flexibility, don't go there! Pros: none Cons: judgemental more

GREAT!! 5/12/2008

They care for small animals that other vets turn away. My bunny needed to be seen right away for an eye and inner ear infection and they squeezed him right in but took their time examining him thoroughly. They consulted with me and agreed not to do a test that would cost extra with no necessary results. Courteous and kind. Obviously animal lovers. Not cheap but no vet is, and I don't expect professional vet clinics to show their love for animals by undercutting expenses. That's what rescue volunteers do, but they also need vets to make enough on regular fees to be able to give them discounts. more

Absolutely rotten 8/23/2007

I usually go to St. Francis Animal Hospital, which is well worth the drive from my south Minneapolis home. After the collapse of the 35W bridge and the following construction, I had a difficult time getting to S.F.A.H., so I called my vet to ask if he could work with Cedar Pet Clinic to get my dog's follow up vaccination. She had had an exam 4 weeks earlier and is in great health. My vet clinic was fully cooperative. Cedar Pet Clinic was awful. First of all, I could hardly understand the receptionist on the phone, she was speaking so quickly and monotone that it was difficult to even make out what she was saying. She was unfriendly and uncooperative. I explained the situation and that this was a follow up shot. I had also mentioned that someone from my vets office had called to facilitate this arrangement. I was told by the people at Cedar that in order to get this $14 follow up vaccine, I would need to pay for a full exam by one of their own vets, despite my very reputable ve more

HORRIBLE 8/23/2007

These people don't seem to care about animals as much as they care about money. Pros: they are in a convinient location Cons: they are not compassionate or reasonable more

Costly with many added fees 4/10/2006

Upon first arival the clinic treated my new puppy with great enthusiasm. As a puppy she is very high energy, and because of her constant movement, when they did the annual exam they did not thoroughly examine her ears. They told me she seemed fine because she wasn't fussy at home. Two days earlier, at puppy kindergarden the trainer was teaching dog owners how to clean ears and noticed that she had some yeast. This ear wax persisted, and I had mentioned that I wanted them to take ANOTHER look at the next visit. For this they wanted another $72.90 to "re-exam." Also they wanted to do a culture for $54.50, and they wanted to give me medication for an additional costly charge. \r After talking to another owner of the same breed (with floppy ears) I discovered that yeast can clear up with a 1:1 ratio of vinegar to water. It worked wonders and cost about $2 for an entire bottle of vinegar! After talking to another vet I found that this method works in most cases. I was dissapointed I had more

They really made my day! 10/13/2005

Cedar Pet Clinic got my cat in right away, and finally solved a strange sore on her upper lip that another clinic couldn't solve. Our veterinarian was right on time and genuinely seemed to care about our cat -- took the time to calm her down while in unfamiliar territory. I give them top marks and all of my future vet-business! They also had a very big range of animals in that day - a bird, rabbit, dog, and our cat. It seems like they must handle all pets with great care! PROS: Friendly Vet, treatment that works! CONS: I didn't go to them first! more

Costly but worth it 8/31/2005

I took my dog to Cedar Pet Clinic for the first time today and have never been happier. She had a minor skin infection and kennel cough and the staff was wonderful. They got me in immediately and cared for dog with a true love for animals and exteme compassion. The doctor took extra time to explain everything and even gave me great free samples to begin brushing my dogs teeth! Cedar Pet Clinic exemplifies what a vet experience should be for people and pets alike! I will continue to take both my cat and dog to the Clinic and encourage anyone else with pets to do the same! PROS: They know what they are doing CONS: price more

Helpful clinic 6/30/2005

Cedar Pet Clinic is full of people that love pets. My dog was very comfortable there and another benefit to their service was there great website. It had a lot of helpful information about dogs or cats and certain questions that you might forget to ask the vet. Very helpful! I can't wait to go again. more
