I bought a 75 minute coconut infusion massage through Living Social along with my daughter. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The atmosphere is very unique. The waiting area is a tea bar with dim lights and relaxing music. I was offered complimentary tea or water while I filled out my paperwork. I have chemical sensitivities, and when I told the receptionist, she had my massage therapist, Mitzi, come out and let me test the oil that was going to be used. She understands holistic medicine, so she was very open to what I was doing. I was concerned about the time since with recent Groupon and Living Social spa services I have not been given the entire time that was paid for. The receptionist assured me that we would be given the full 75 minutes. When I went back to undress, Mitzi said that they allow five minutes to dress and undress. That's fair. Mitzi asked me about the pressure that I wanted and she did a great job working out the stress in my muscles. I don't like a really firm touch, but something in between. She did great and did not talk to me during the massage which is something they ask you if you want on the paperwork. The spa is very clean and the rooms are dark...no windows. The sheets were clean and fresh on the massage table. The music was very relaxing and I was pleasantly surprised when she finished to look at the clock and see that she gave me the full 70 minutes. My daughter was there with me getting the same massage in another room, and her experience was fantastic as well. I live in Atlanta, but I will be looking for more deals at this spa and will plan to go back when I am in town. After the massage, we were given a hot tea of our choice. They have a very large selection. The Almond Cookie Green Tea was fabulous. My daughter bought a bag to take home. Overall, it was fun mother/daughter day out and I hope to go back soon. more

Excellent experience. I have had many massages, but Urbana is hands above the rest. The relaxing atmosphere was exceptional. The massage therapist was very professional and did not try to carry on a conversation. She made the experience pleasant. I have to drive quite a distance to get there, but most assuringly worth the drive. Can't wait until my next massage. The pricing is reasonable and they do offer discounts. more

I called in with a gift certificate I had received. I had only a couple possible days and times that would work with my schedule. I told this to the girl who I called at Urbana and although nothing worked out right away, she moved their schedule to accommodate me. I had a one hour Swedish massage and a half hour facial. The masseur was great. I felt totally relaxed and pampered. The music, lighting and overall decor was pleasant. To get time away from my little ones in this type of environment was exceptional. Also nice to enjoy tea after my pampering and not feel rushed. It was nice and clean too. Would recommend to anyone. more

I have been to Urbana four times. It is unique in that it is also a tea bar, which I find relaxing after the massage. You do not need to have a massage to go in and have tea which is also nice. The atmosphere and music are pretty chill. I have seen 3 different therapists...all are very good, but I do have a favorite that I now request. You wont be hanging out in a lounge or quiet room in a fluffy robe, but the tea bar is what makes this place different. After the massage I was given either a bottle of Voss or Fiji water. I cant wait to go back.... more

Being a massage addict, I've had great massages, good massages, and ones that made me want to say stop. At Urbana, the massages are always the best. I've spent more than I want to think about at numerous resort spas, and they never, ever compare to the talented hands at Urbana. Love this place! more

....treat yourself to the Urbana experience!! From beginning till end, my massage at Urbana was nothing short of Sublime. As you walk in the door you are welcomed with a choice of select teas from around the world. Upon entering the dimly lit massage room, they were very attentive and made sure to ask if I needed anything to make me more comfortable. They also asked if their were certain areas id like to concentrate on and if I was experiencing any pain. I had the "East-West" massage with hot stones...which was amazing (both relaxing and pain relieving) This particular massage combines both deep tissue work and swedish elements as well. Nancy introduced me to the Mamma Mio line of skin care Urbana sells while i was a few months pregnant. I tried the Tummy Rub Butter for stretchmarks. Boy am i glad i did. I started using it around month 4 and I stopped using it 3 months post-pardum and don't have a mark! Whew. Totally worth it! And it helped my itchy belly too! Thanks Nancy! My husband and I came to Urbana for massages for our anniversary. The people that work there immediately helped us relax. The tea bar atmosphere makes it comfortable for men. I think some men feel like spas are for women but Urbana feels warm and cozy, not feminine. At the end we were not rushed and were able to savor the experience. I tried to do something special for my sister for her birthday. I booked her a massage and a massage facial. I had a $30 off coupon for being a first-time client, and had made it very clear I did not want my sister to find out how much I had spent and especially did not want her to know I used a coupon. I also asked if they could make it all a suprise and not tell her what she was getting when she came in. The lady, Britney, said it was absolutely no problem and she would put a note in the system so when she came in it would pop up with all this info. My sister went in, and right away they told her what she was getting done, so right from the start they ruined the surprise part of it. She got her massage, and when she was done they charged her $30 saying I did not cover everything. So not only did she find out how much I spent, she also found out I had used a $30 coupon. I will NOT recommend this place to anyone!!! Cons: Ruined my entire surprise for my present. more

My votes for anything "massage" go to Urbana. They have proven to me many times that they are the best in Charlotte or any other city I've recieved massage in. I have gotten various types of massage there. All great. I wouldn't hesitate to refer anyone there and often do. Pros: Best in massage category more
