Urban Waxx

I've never written a review before but I've benefited greatly from reading others' advice so now is as good a time as any to give back and help as well. And I feel that I have an obligation to support a local business that is this good. In the last 10 years, I have gone to many "top" - aka expensive, snooty - salons to get my legs and bikini area waxed. I kept hoping I'd find someone that was good enough to trust to do the unthinkable but desirable brazilian wax. After getting the best, quickest leg wax I've ever had, I decided to go for it with Shannon. I can't say it was 100% painless but I AM 100% convinced it was as painless as it could possibly be. And I've gone back at least 6 times -not bad for a total wimp- and it gets easier and less painful each time. Bottom line is I will continue to go back, and my very hard-to-please friends, who I sent to Shannon and came away raving, will as well. Why? Because she is fast and focused while being fun, funny and friendly. Nice alliteration, huh?! Corny, right?! But it is true. Lastly, the prices are as reasonable as you will find anywhere, guaranteed, and the new salon is absolutely gorgeous. The candy, chocolates, and beverages aren't bad either... Pros: Fast, professional service. Beautiful salon. Evening and wknd appts. available. Great prices. more

I just left Shannon's spa, and I almost wish I was still there hanging out with her and getting waxed all day! She more than lives up to her motto: it was seriously the best wax I've EVER had, and Shannon herself is a sheer delight. Convenient location, reasonable prices, and a fabulous woman to spend time with - what's not to love?!? more

Shannon is great and her waxes are even better. She makes you feel like you're sitting over cocktails, chatting, all the while she's removing the hair between your cheeks! Quick, painless and perfect....what more can you ask for! Pros: Great, friendly service, lots of street parking, wine (if you want it)! Cons: None more

Every appointment with her feels like visiting my best friend who just happens to be waxing me during our conversations!! She is very professional, friendly, painless ( as painless as waxing could possibly be), the place is cozy and clean and her prices are unbeatable!! It was my first visit to Urban Waxxx to have my brows waxed. My appointment got re-scheduled on the day of service. However, Shannon agreed to give me a free service if I could rescheduled an hour early. Luckily, I had no other booking so I was ok with the rescheduling. Shannon was a very nice gal and welcomed me at the door! I felt so comfortable (and no pain - ok, very very little) during the service. She got the job done quickly and more importantly - she did a GREAT job! I definitely recommend her to the list! :) Pros: Great service overall Cons: None more

Shannon is, no lie, the BEST in town. I've been to a lot of places and seen a lot of pros, semi-pros, and some amateurs. She's the best kind of pro: great at what she does, fun, easy to make an appointment with, and will put anyone at ease. I highly, highly recommend her! more

I was really nervous going in, as it was my first time. Shannon was amazing. She made me feel so comfortable. I had read all the reviews on here, and picked her based on those, and they were right on. I would definately recommend her for anyone interested! more

I am an esthetician, so since I am in the same business as Shannon, I am a bit more critical of cleanliness, ambiance and customer service. First of all, she is on time, which for me is a huge deal! Her studio is very cute, very clean, and Shannon is very efficient in her service. I was in and out for my Brazillian in 15 minutes. Her customer service skills are great, and I have to tell you from experience, sometimes when you are waxing, it's hard to talk and work at the same time. She can do both, and quite well! It was a pleasure meeting Shannon, and her waxing is quite good! Pros: Parking, fast service, friendly Cons: none that I can think of more

I wish I would have had a bullet, cause it was painful!! Ouch!! But man does it feel like a baby's butt when you are done. The last time was not nearly as painful, so keep at it! I come from Salem and I will keep driving up every month for my re-do!! Shannon also has weekend appointments (which is great) and she will work with your schedule to get you in! You go girl!!!! Pros: Shannon has a super duper personality and a quaint little studio. Cons: She is 60 miles from me! more

Shannon is a hill of fun, but she's not just a great personality. I went to her after having several disappointing waxes at various spas around town and wanting to see if her claim matched reality. I was very happy with my first wax, and have been extremely happy since. The brazilian wax was the least painful and best wax I've had, and I have been to several places that claim to be the best brazilian around. The only negative thing I have to say about Urban Waxx is that it's really hard to find. First timers, get to 17th and Lovejoy a good 5 mins early and call Shannon to walk you through finding her :) Pros: Amazing wax, Shannon is lots of fun, great little studio Cons: tough to find more
