Although I am not a big fan of dental visits, Dr. Burns and Urban Dentistry were fantastic. The space is nice, clean and relaxing. I highly recommend Dr. Burns and the team at UD. more

Front office staff super was friendly. I had a check up and Zoom Whitening done with amazing results. Dr. Urban and staff made me feel at ease and I was comfortable during the procedure. I would recommend Dr. Urban for anyone who looking for a new dentist. more

Karen R. (because there are 2 Karens in the office) is a radiant beam of sunshine, peace, and positive glowing energy! She has had at least ten years experience on both sides of the skin treatment and procedures spectrum. She truly puts the CARE sound in the name most fitted for her of Karen! I could never say enough good about her! There are just not enough adjectives available to describe her! She gave me a flawless microdermabrasion yesterday. I had several unexpected compliments all day long today. I am a freelance makeup artist in my spare time, so this truly hit home and meant a lot! Her knowledge, understanding, intelligence, and innovation set her far apart from a regular aesthetician. She listens, stays current on all skin care technologies and products, and has worked with some of the best people in the business. She literally strives for the best every time, which only benefits her loyal customers to their maximum goal potential. Thursday they will be having an event for the rejuvenate facial peel. Be on the lookout for these things because you will reap tremendous rewards and values when you attend and get a package for whatever your skin needs are. Call and ask them for specials, because they always seem to have many wonderful events planned that you can easily be a part of, too! The benefits are well worth it. Karen's hard work and dedication to this field literally speak for themselves on the faces of many of us. It's never too late to get yourself to better skin if you are having any concerns. I am in my early 30's and needed the microderm to even my skin tone issues. The result was even better than I could have ever envisioned and my skin is now glowing like it did when I left my 20's! I could never say enough amazing things about Karen R! She is patient, treats everyone like gold, listens, and should you have the honor of meeting with her, you will know this to be true within your first 5 minutes! I wish Urban Dentistry and Laser Spa nothing but continual success and I wish Karen nothing but sapphires, diamonds, and wonderful positive treasures to somehow pay her back for all that she does for people. They are located in Building G next to the Gibson Guitars store....there are a few parking spots right up front for more compact cars but there is also ample parking slightly across the street so there are unlimited options. Thank you, Karen R! She really is Austin's best kept secret and let her be your secret weapon to the skin you have always aspired to have :) I look forward to staying loyal to Karen for a very long time! more

I have been a customer of Urban Laser Spa for about 1.5-2 years During that time I have had laser hair removal, microdermabraion and IPL. Betty is awesome to work with, caring and patient. She took the time to prep my skin and then was always available if I had questions after a procedure. She also introduced me to the Clarsonic system---this really changed my complexion!!! I can't say enough about them, love Urban! more

Wow! Don't understand all the negative reviews. After one bad IPL experience (no numbing!!) at a very upscale 6th street 'spa', I took a chance on Urban Dentistry and am really glad I did. Betty is not only exceptionally nice, smart, and funny, but she really knows her work. Her assistant did a super job applying numbing cream and making me wait until it really took effect. Betty's meticulous and carefully covered every area to be treated, stopping to make sure I was comfortable. I was so pleased that I booked another appointment . The final results were a dramatic improvement in skin tone, texture, and color eveness, so now I will go on to have décolleté and hands done . Betty explains everything so carefully, explaining why she recommends certain products over others (and it's not because of cost, but because of results that she sees). Now I'm more than comfortable having her do Dysport and a few other enhancements. All my friends keep telling me how terrific I look - fresh looking, not 'done'. Betty's goal is to make you look great, not fake - a remarkable difference from others in town whose clients look puffy. The office is calm and lovely as well and the office admin couldn't be lovelier or more helpful. They graciously honored my groupon and a living social coupon, the rates for additional services were reasonable. Also, I am kept informed on upcoming deals so I can plan out treatments and stay within my budget. Run, don't walk to Betty if you want to look your best!!! more

bought the localiter deal for 3 treatments for $129. Made 1st appointment. Had to cancel because I got sick. Lost $129. They said since I cancelled I lost the deal and my money too. I said I could understand if I'd lost the one appointment I cancelled, but the other two also? They said yes, it's in the policy on the voucher. It's not. It's not on their website. I guess I should have gone and vomited continuously on the girl. If I knew how to vomit on cue, I'd find that nasty receptionist. Gotcha!!! more

I have NEVER, in my long & well traveled life, been treated with such DISRESPECT. The office manager, who also seems to answer the phone regularly, is RUDE & condescending. NO customer service skills whatsoever. NONE. Refused to even let me speak. Kept talking over me, not answering any of my questions or addressing any concerns. I cancelled my appointments and took the money loss. (My husband had already paid for services). She was actually yelling at me on the phone so I hung up on her. I tried to communicate in email and she was , yet again, incapable of communicating. Did not address ANY of my concerns and was RUDE & HORRIBLE. I am generally an easy going person and NOT high maintenance, so I didn't instigate the prickly psycho behavior from her. I noticed a lot of similar complaints about her on YELP. I will never know how the back office/treatments are. I couldn't even make it past the front desk without feeling completely UNWELCOME & insulted. I'm taking my business to AZIZ where they actually make you feel cared for and welcome & will answer ALL your questions and concerns. What a concept for a spa! I gave 1 star because there isn't a choice for 0 or negative stars. I hope the karma police are on this one. She needs a lesson in basic human kindness and communication. more

Okay... Today I went down to see Betty at Urban Dentistry and Laser Spa. I had my second IPL treatment on my face. I am so happy with the results from the first one I can't imagine what the second one will do... I had freckles and brown spots from sun damage and it's amazing what one treatment did. I don't have to wear foundation anymore to cover up the spots. I am having my second treatment to get the spots that if you look really close you can see and some broken capillaries. I know I am a big chicken when it come to pain but Betty gives you the numbing cream ahead of time and makes it as painless as possible. I trust Betty so when we were talking about Dysport (like botox) I decided to get my frown line inbetween my eyebrows injected. I will update how it turns out... After the injection Betty then moved on the laser hair removal. She did my bikini area first and then under arms. Betty is so professional I never felt uncomfortable. Betty is easy to talk to while she is doing her work. I am so happy to have found Betty I probably never would have ever done anything with a laser but I know Betty knows her stuff... I made my next appointment already... :) more

I took advantage of a Groupon to visit Urban Dentistry and Laser Spa. Betty did an IPL treatment on my neck and chest, and I got a shot of the botox-like medicine in my forehead. I am pleased with my results and am going back soon for my second IPL. Betty answered all of my questions and we discussed a plan before any treatment. I knew it would take more than one IPL for my neck/chest, so I planned for that. With any dentistry or cosmetic treatment, your exam can result in things you did not know about. That is to be expected. more

I think it is really interesting that every 5 star rating comes from reviewers that have only left one review and signed up that day. The same can be said for the 1 star rating as well. This just shows that it is most likely the staff or owners writing their own reviews. Possibly friends of the business who received one of the ""Please go to this link and vote for me or review my business"" emails that we all get from annoying friends from time to time. I walked into a beautiful and professional office expecting a great experience. I filled out my paper work and proceeded to answer the assistants questions. In the paper work it asked if there were any medical allergies that they should be aware of. I wrote about my allergy to dairy. I was surprised when the assistant said "" I don't think we will be injecting you with milk today. Haha"" in a condescending tone. I explained my allergies and my concern of not getting enough calcium in my diet. Oh Boy! was that an awkward 10 minuets of x-rays. I could have forgiven an upstart assistant, but the service and pricing was the main problem. I knew I would no longer look for treatment here so I recently found a new dentist. They wanted to charge me to have my x-rays transferred to the new dentist. Now that he has them he informed me the x-rays don't even contain the roots of my teeth, and will have to be taken again. If your more concerned about atmosphere than the quality of dental care this place is for you. Pros: Parking Cons: unprofessional overpriced more

OK- let me clarify the 4 star thing. Photofacials aren't relaxing- BUT they just do make it the best it can be. Betty was so informative and SUPER nice. She made getting laser on your face more enjoyable than i thought it could be! I have HORRIBLE acne scars and after just 2 treatments they are mostly gone! I have a few more treatments to get just to finish up my laser package- great deal by the way- but I am very happy i am thinking about trying their hair removal packages too!! Heard about this place from a friend and decided to try it. I wanted to find a place in South Austin that was close to my house. Ofcourse I called first to get a rough estimate on how much they'd charge for a cleaning and they quoted me around 100 bucks. Not bad. Then I get in there, I took my boyfriend with me so we could both get it done and I went first. We did some xrays for about 60 a piece. The receptionist gave my boyfriend a lot of attitude. Then comes the 5 minute ""consultation"" which included a lesson on how to brush my teeth and a very aggressive way of talking to me about my teeth. I apparentally needed a ""beefed up"" cleaning and had gum disease which I've never heard before. I take very good care of my teeth. The receptionist comes over with a bunch of paperwork and the last page is ofcourse the new estimate. $886 is what I'll be paying today. Without the mouth guard around $600. I was shocked and didn't know what to say. I was upset because they charged me $108 just for the ""consultation"" which they never informed me of over the phone. I don't have $600 dollars to get my teeth cleaned...so we had to leave and I ended up paying $230 for xrays and a consultation. My friend who had gone there before said she had the same experience and she had to go on a payment plan just to pay everything off. She also said since she's changed dentists she hasn't had as many problems as this dentist at Urban Dentistry had told her. I feel like it was all a scam and they had no right to charge me more than what they quoted me for. From now on, I'm going back to my old dentist. Be prepared to spend lots of money here!! They also offer a free micro-dermabrasion or hand treatment if you fill out a survey...yeah I get it, it's a nice touch. I just wanted my teeth cleaned. And now I have to pay $10 a piece just to get copies of our xrays and sign a release form. First time I've ever heard of that...I will advise everyone I know never to go to this place. I have been going to Dr. Urban at Urban Dentistry for about a year now for all of my dental services and I have been so pleased! I was even more pleased to find out that she opened up a laser spa to take care of all my skincare needs in the same office. I went in recently for a free consultation about some skin concerns I had and had such a pleasant experience. The staff was so friendly and informative. I was nervous about having Botox done for the first time and Allison was so knowledgeable and made me feel at ease. She did such a wonderful job making me look years younger! I would definitely recommend Urban Dentistry & Laser Spa to anyone looking to have cosmetic skincare treatments done by medically trained and certified professionals, as well as general and cosmetic dental care. Awesome experience!
