I over heard the manager cuss about a member for being to demanding. He was childish and acting like a spoiled brat. He needs to learn that people can hear him around the corner. And quit acting like an idiot more

I just moved into town and needed to find a new Esthetician. I'm VERY picky about my face and skin in general. When I booked the appointment over the phone, I was suprised to learn that my skin technician would be a male. Maybe it's just me but I never had a male technician tend to my skin care needs. I was told of his accomplishments and was very much excited at this point about having the facial service.\r \r Well, I must say he was VERY professional, VERY courteous. He took the time to explain to me things I never thought about asking. They say you learn something new everyday, and that day I did! Lawrence's hands ARE AMAZING !!! Let me further say that when I left the salon, It was like I was floating on a cloud. Not only did he tend to my facial needs...he incorporated a TRUELY AMAZING deep tissue facial massage as well as a shoulder and back massage. Once my final mask was setting he also gave me an INCREDIBLE foot massage !\r \r I booked my appointment on a wednesday, and was told that I received an additional 15% off my service with him if I booked on a wednesday or thursday ( which is a GREAT value in this troubling economy.)\r \r BRAVO Urban Body Studios for hiring such a sincerely gifted gentleman that made me beam inside and out! I have now tried a little bit of everything at Urban Body Studios. Pilates is classical style and was top notch. There were 2 types of yoga - Ashtanga and ""yoga"". Ashtanga is more athletic. Their other yoga I found out is actually Correlation style (cross of Iygenar and Vinyasa). Less athletic and more posture oriented. \r \r They also had a hair salon. I am trying to do as much organic hair and facial products. They had Eminence Organic facial products and are getting in Kevin Murphy in soon. I will be shopping there for that stuff..... I recently went to Keirsta for the first time to get a drastic style change and color. She did an incredible job, and I have been very happy with my hair. She asked questions, listened to my answers, and gave me a new style that fits my personality and lifestyle. After searching all over Atlanta for the past five years, I have finally found in Keirsta the stylist I have wanted. She is attentive, patient, and easygoing. Overall, it was the best experience I have had at a salon in many years. more

I went to the Urban Body salon for the first time yesterday to get a haircut. My appointment was with Keirsta Z., who is not on the website in the salon section. There is another stylist there named Krista - I've seen her work and she's excellent. However, I want to make sure Keirsta is recognized. \r \r I got a series of really bad haircut at another salon a few months ago, so I was pretty nervous about trusting another stylist. Keirsta totally renewed my faith in salons. I brought in a picture and she got the cut exactly right. She asked a lot of questions while she was cutting to make sure I got the look I wanted. I have never worked with a stylist that does that, so I was very impressed. I am pretty shy, but she is easy to talk to and friendly. Usually after leaving a salon my first impulse is to run to a mirror to do damage control, but seriously, this is the first time I can ever remember leaving a salon happy. \r \r I'd recommend any of the stylists at Urban Body, but definitely check out Keirsta if you are in the market for a new stylist! Prices are competitive with other salons in the area, the building is really pretty, and all of the staff are friendly (also talked to a couple people in the fitness studios while trying to find the salon). I experienced no BS or attitude - Urban Body seems like a pretty down to earth place. more

I recently experienced one of the best massage i""ve had in awhile. There is a new massage therapist at urban body that just made me feel as if the world was lifted off my shoulders. I never imagine that I could be so relaxed by a man's touch . He was very professional and his rates are great. If you need to just escape for the daily grind then I would tell you to run and get a massage from Adrian. I would be willing to bet money that you would thank yourself. Just to add one more thing, he has a money back guarantee so you don't have to worry if you are not happy ,he will refund your money, but I could not imagine him ever having to get a dime back. I moved here about 2 years ago and one of my biggest concerns was finding a stylist who is semi-affordable and is good at what they do! I was immediatly impressed not only with the reasonalbe price s $135 for cut, color and highlight but with the atmosphere as well as the professionalist of the staff. My stylist took his time and realy cared about my needs and making sure I was happy. I highly recommend the salon. more

Urban body is a great gym if you want no frills. It is sort of dark and gloomy on the inside of this renovated wharehouse, but the equipment is clean and well maintained. The people who work out at Urban body are serious, it is not a pick up social gym by any stretch. Amazingly, my membership does not allow me to take many of the classes they offer in the bulilding next door. more

I have used Urban Body Studio somewhat regularly for massage and Bikram Yoga. The Bikram staff are great, but the studio staff all act like it's their first day. Do I book my massage through them or the therapist? The answer varies by therapist, and day of the week. Now I just e-mail Robert Joiner when I want an appointment. He is GREAT. If you have some serious pain/tightness to deal with, he is your man! He's not afraid to dig in there and really hurt you, if you want him to. He also is happy to give you a relaxing massage, if that's what you want ... but I haven't tried that. I'm there for some serious work. He's always professional, and very nice. more

I just had to write a review because I did a google search for Robert Joiner after having not seen him in about 6 years, and there he was under ""Robert gives the best Massage, ever"" and it's true, I have been getting massage for over 20 years and it's rare when you meet a massage therapist with so much body awareness, Robert is better than therapists that I've had who have been doing massage for 30yrs!! Not just the fluffy stuff, but real thorough/detailed work. A rare find, a true bodyworker. \r \r The studio is very nice, by the way - sleek, clean, urban... very efficient service. I started going to Urban Body about a month and a half ago after not doing pilates for a couple of years. The instructors at UBS are great and they really take the time to help correct you during class. These are definitely the hardest pilates classes I've taken, which I think is great. \r \r Haven't tried the yoga yet, but I've heard good things about that as well.\r \r The building in beautiful and the locker rooms are very nice. I scheduled an appointment for the first time with Robert not knowing his style. I carry all my stress in my shoulders and did I luck out. Roberts style of massage is to focus on your troubled area(s) and work with that and did he ever. I felt so good when I left the studio. Robert definatley knows what he is doing and he worked out the kinks in my shoulder and back. I will definately be seeing him on a regular basis to keep myself healthy. I have been taking yoga and pilates for several years now and I have tried the Studios out a couple of times. The classes and instructors are very informative in there teachings, but I have found that the staff is somewhat unproffessional. Here is what I encountered the day that made my decision to NOT join Urban Body Studios:\r While getting set up for a yoga class... the class was interrupted by a older guy or man that wanted to let us know that there was a 5 year anniversary special going on the 15th of June. He continued on talking to one of the members about this special and then preceeded to tell the person about how he was about to go on a date or another date with a guy that he has been seeing. For me my time is valuable and spending 5 mins. interrupting a class to let us know about his ""dating"" situation is NOT valuable inofrmation that I need to know. This made me really think about how unproffessional this business was managed. \r Also the parking situation is really bad... I've always been afraid of committing to a hairstylist.... until I met JD Southern, the Master Stylist at UBS. He is talented, meticulous, and very patient. Urban Body Studios is NOT your hair & spa factory like other places in the city. You feel like The Client, not just another appointment. Lawrence the facialist is amazing too... an artist at his profession.... I leave glowing and relaxed. I could not rave more about Urban Body! Pros: Relaxing facility & great staff... I love this place! I have been taking Pilates classes for five months now. I tried different places, and couldn't find a right place until one of my friend recommended Urban Body Studios. I usually go Penelope's class, and she is great! What else I can say! they take care of your body individually, and teach you the principles of Pilates very well. Try it! you will feel welcomed here! I've had a great experience at Urban Body Studios, starting with the friendly girls at the front desk and going through the beautiful building and good instructors. Highly recommend going in the middle of the day when you basically have instructors to yourself but pay group class rates. The classes are usually the full 1.5 hours instead of the typical 1 hour you find at pseudo-yoga studios. Pros: Beautiful building, knowledgeable instructors, friendly front desk staff. I'm new to Atlanta and read all the reviews before coming to Urban Body Studios. I'm not sure why some folks complained, as I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The tour the staff member (Charlie) gave me was informative and down-right friendly- we even talked about our dogs and she helped me find a great pet store and doggie day care! Having read a couple of ""dissatisfied"" reviews, I can only say that there are always going to be complainers. No matter how hard you try to please them. Some people are just determined to be unhappy. I found the entire environment relaxing and the staff accomodating. They even have a common area with wireless, so I brought my lap top and did some work before class. What more could you ask for! Oh, I LOVE Robert Joiner's yoga class... more

Super experience! First time yoga class for me and from the check-in to the finish it was first rate. Ultra clean locker room was like being on a vacation in a five star hotel.
