First Class 10/10/2010

I attended both the University of Houston and the University of St. Thomas in my scholarly days from 2002 to 2008. I obtained by undergraduate degree and graduate degree from the University of St. Thomas. I started out a St. Thomas and transferred to the University of Houston to play Division 1 athletics. After having attended the University of St. Thomas, I was unimpressed with the University of Houston and after having completed participating in the athletics, I switched back to the University of St. Thomas. The difference between the two schools was hard to articulate for me, although I have heard a saying that rung true for me as well and that is that the difference is between going to a five star restaurant with great service and decent cafeteria. I could walk in to any of my teacher's offices and they knew me by name and were glad to be helpful, even though they were not by counselor. more

I had a great experience 5/30/2008

In response to Mr. David H's "mediocre school" posting, I would have to disagree. I think that the professors at this University are smart and well-educated, as well as true mentors. I am not sure which classes were referenced in his comment, but I had a great and well-rounded education thanks to the classes I took. Furthermore, I think that I had one "sluff" class, and that was because I had an adjunct teacher who was only there for a year. Other than that, all the other classes I took were great. In terms of its location, it is located next to many coffee shops and museums, and its atmosphere is truly amazing. It seems now that the university is progressively moving towards a new vision, but I would like to emphasize that the education and experience I received was very positive. more

mediocre school for rich kids 8/19/2005

the university of st thomas is a mediocre school with little offer. the classes are not very challenging nor are the facilities the best. the university is also located within a poor and semi-unsafe neighborhood. it is also right next to the montrose district which is home to a lot of odd shops and clubs. it's very hard to get to in rush hour because of the roads around the university. i'd only suggest you to go here if you want to study theology. more
