USM: a good value 9/11/2005

University of Southern Maine is a good value. The two campuses make things a little more difficult than other schools, but there is a bus that runs between the two campuses. The professors are very helpful and knowledgeable in their area. The tuition is very reasonable, especially is one commutes from home more

USM 9/1/2005

I graduated from USM seven years ago. Mainly, my classes were located at the Portland campus. At that time, it was almost impossible to find parking any time after 10. Since then, they have constructed a parking garage. Almost all of the instructors I had were very good. The class size was what you would expect from a state University. The Gorham campus is very pretty, and much smaller than the Portland Campus. Books were very expensive, as you might expect. Crime rate was low, and the campus was pretty well lit. Located off Forest ave in Portland, and near the water! more

A great value! 8/16/2005

As a student at the University of Southern Maine's School of Music, I feel I've received as good an education as I could find anywhere, and for much less a price tag. Top notch faculty and staff, very knowledgeable and professional. I would not hesitate to recommend University of Southern Maine to any prospective student. more

University of Southern Maine (USM) 7/28/2005

I do recommend USM. There are many great colleges within it; I like their business programs. The cost of tuition is reasonable. It's higher than our local community college, but much less than a larger Maine University. The only problem with USM is that it can be challenging to graduate in four years. Classes are not always offered on schedule, sometimes they alternate years. Students should study their own core curriculum and other graduation requirements, rather than relying solely on a faculty advisor. more
