Complex is atrocious 10/3/2011

Had an ex room-mate who was a coward and sucker punched me numerous times. After he was done and saw I was still standing his girl friend called 911. Before she had a chance to connect to the police I picked him up and slamed him to the floor and gave him an asssssss-wooooooping. He went to the office the next day and said ""I"" assaulted him? After it was found out by the comples asst mgnr Irby, I was still told I had to vacate the apartment. The ""coward"" was evicted and removed himself the last day of Sept. This place does stink. Check out the reveiws of other past tennants. Jim more

Horrible, incompetent and unprofessional management 10/12/2010

I always pay rent on time and take necessary precautions to make sure that I pay the correct amount of rent on time. For Septembers rent on my lease, I am allowed $150.00 off of my rent. I had accidentally paid my rent in full amount for Septembers rent ($375), and had also accidentally paid over the amount of Augusts rent (I paid $379 when I only owed $375) So, I wasn't sure how much money had been credited to my account for rent. ( I wasn't sure how much I actually owed for Octobers rent) So I went in about 2 weeks in advance to ask how much rent I owed for Octobers rent. She said that the only amount of money that I owed was $4. I asked again: ""Are you sure that's it?"" She reassured me twice that that amount was correct. I said Ok, and I went to get a money order for Octobers rent of only $4. I came in later on the 22nd of September to pay Octobers rent. For one, the woman came off as kind of rude and trivial when it came to the task of helping me. When I was paying for Octobers rent, as she was writing my receipt, she wrote that it was for late fees, and I had to tell her again that it was for Octobers rent. So, on the receipt, it clearly states that it is for Octobers rent and not for late fees. On October 12th of 2010, I receive a letter on my door that states late fees for Octobers rent along with the $375. When I confronted the current manager, Sean Cumpian, of this issue, he simply stated that he was sorry about the confusion, but that I would still owe $375 minus $150 off because of Septembers rent. I didn't feel like he cared at all about my predicament, and now he's expecting me to pay Octobers rent now for the 12th and the $375 for rent that is coming up. He said that it was my responsibility to keep up with how much I owed for rent, and again I stated that I was trying to do so by asking the people that work there how much I owed. He said that instead of asking them, next time I should ask him because he would be more knowledgeable on the subject of how much I owed for rent. So, apologies apologies and no offer to do anything about their own mistakes. On top of my own personal issues, they do not manage the pool very well a lot of times. The pool was actually green on one occasion, about 2 months ago. Their maintenance knocks once, and then proceeds to barge in without giving you enough time to answer the door. All in all, these people are an incompetent group and I'm not all too sure how they were hired on, but I suggest that almost any other place would be better than University Commons. more

Bad Management must be fired now. 7/13/2010

Before I moved in, they were just disconnecting me off the line and or either put me on hold, then cut me off.\r \r Sent them my info with SSN and other stuff, they said they never received it. Pros: Low Rate Cons: Bad management, rude, lazy more

Leasing agent running a scam 7/11/2009

My roommate and I went to look at their 2/2 apartment. The leasing agent quoted us $350/person, which we thought was really incredible and too good to pass up. Despite listing the price of the apartment repeatedly in person and in writing as $350, the agent let us fill out all of our personal information, including SSNs and license plates, before calling us HOURS later after we canceled all of our other appointments to view other apartments to tell us that the 2/2 was $520/person/month. Neither he nor his supervisor would honor the price they had originally given us, nor would they consider meeting us in the middle. So now we have no apartment prospects and they have all of our information. DO NOT RENT HERE. Cons: lied about price more

Don't beleive the hype 8/26/2008

I live in the University commons Apartments in Austin Tx and the management is horrible. I am trying to get the word out about this crime filled hole. The management should sell used cars. They make promises that they don't keep and misrepresent how they do things and then reference the lease when you call them on their dishonesty. It isn't worth the money. The roommate matching service is a joke. The management doesn't care about your problems. Their atittude is shut up and give me your rent check because we got you by the short hairs. Pros: cheap rent Cons: dark parking lots, no security, loud, dirty, lots of homeless and crimials more

Nothing but problems and fees 8/3/2007

I have lived in those apartments for a year, and from the very beggining, when they had problems to find my reservation untill the end of the lease that they charged me money to replace thing that never were in the apartment, there were nothing but problems.\r They didn't gave me a copy of the lease until i went through the office 5 times, they charged me money because i didn't confirmed my move-out in advance, because the office was close excepcionally. The basketball and tennis court were in really bad conditions, and the cleaning of the house in the move in and the cleaning during all my stay there were really bad.\r I would advise to find some other place to live in Austin, never in the University Commons Apartments. Pros: the bus is near Cons: safety, magnament, rudeness, area, dirtiness more
