Excellent Schools 6/14/2011

Our entire family has been members of UMAC - Brighton for two years. Our sons, 7 & 10, enjoy the Little Dragons and Juniors programs immensely. The teachers are excellent and are aware of the individual's needs. Personal guidance has been provided to help with school bullying issues, as well as the group discussions and sharing of experiences. They learn self-defense in more than just physical actions. The adult karate and jujitsu classes, as well as the body conditioning and kickboxing classes, are also excellent. I hear similar feedback about the Victor, NY school. more

Excellent approach to working with kids 9/8/2006

I have 2 kids in karate classes at UMAC, ages 8 and 5. Besides general martial arts techniques, each class has a discussion about 'real-life' issues that affect kids. They're socialization and conflict management skills have improved as a direct result of their karate classes. They are picking up the little nuances of socialization that comes with responsibility and respect of classmates. PLUS, the kids have fun. There is no pressure to perform, but all of the students seem so enthralled to be a part of every lesson. more

A great all around workout! 7/18/2005

John Ingallina has a great setup here. He offers martial arts training for kids and adults, as well as energetic and positive fitness classes for adults. The adult classes include fitness kickboxing (bag classes and interval training), strength training/power fusion, pilates and yoga classes (and anything else they can think up!) This is NOT a meat market--everyone is here to work with you toward your fitness goals. There is tremendous camaraderie in classes--the feeling is no matter what your fitness level, you can push yourself and achieve your goals. John also is a member of the Rape Crisis Services Advisory Council, and periodically offers personal safety training geared toward women. John understands that women need to be aware of their surroundings, and not be caught up in thinking they must have black belt skills in order to defend themselves. I encourage everyone to try out their programs--the first 2 classes are FREE!!!! more
