Friendly, Clean, Professional, Great deals! 11/30/2010

I've been going to Rio Tan for a while now. They are always friendly. The place is always clean and very well kept. They do suggestive selling on better upgrades and lotions but it's never a hard sell and I never feel pressured. I have had amazing results using the lotion they sell. I have very sensitive skin and i find moderate tanning helps keep it looking good. The package I'm on now allows me to come in minimally to maintain my tan without spending a ton of money. I love this! Thanks Rio Tan! more

Best salon in town. 9/28/2010

I have been avoiding getting a tan because everywhere I have gone the staff at the other salons were either rude or just trying to push me to buy something that I just don't need. Going to Rio Tan was very refreshing since the owner was there herself and she was so down to earth and took so much pride in her salon and you could tell that she really appreciated me coming in. I had no hesitation buying a package and a lotion for that matter. The tanning bed and salon was spotless and I got color from just one session. I never write reviews but this one was well deserved. more

It seemed like the tanning version of ""Cheers"", with the owner (?) knowing each person that came in by name, and presenting the packages to me in the most straightforward manner imaginable. The bed was spotless...she recommended a tan time, but after using the beds of competitors in the area, i insisted on the full time.........I should've listened!!!\r \r All in all, a great experience that ANY business person from ANY business should take a tip from. definately a little oasis from the stress thats ouit there!\r \r Pros: spotless, great beds, better prices, real celebs!!!! really great experience, friendly staff, and i got results after the first session. Bought a package and a lotion and still spent less than $75.........they said its been in venice for over twenty years....I can see why! Pros: clean, friendly, great color Cons: hard to find more

Great Experience 1/21/2009

After a bad experience elsewhere, we came here....not only were the prices reasonable and the service great....but one of the American Gladiators was there! He told me hed been going there for years, and that most of the pro fitness people go there before their events.\r \r I tan at an upscale salon in Santa Barbara, but just the results from thir cheapest bed here was great. My girlfriend loved the whole experience, and thought Ves (?) was pretty helpful (and hot!!!)\r \r Pros: reasonable prices, good results, more than just a tanning salon Cons: hard to find, more

So refreshing! Compared to so many other salon I have been to, this one actually does not want to rip you off , but makes sure you know exactly what you are paying for. I was so thrilled by how nice they were and the low pressure attitude. I felt so good when I left and could see a result already after just one session. I'm so exited about the wonderful hospitality. Can't wait to go back. Pros: Honest. more

love the salon 1/2/2009

I agree, so happy that Rio Tan is back with Joe and Helle, this is truly a comfortable salon and the beds are as clean as could you eat on them. I love the people working there, there are no snobby attitudes just cool friendly people. I visited several other salons in the area when it wasn't Rio Tan and everyones prices was crazy. Rio Tan's prices are awesome and I can afford to tan again and I always gets an awesome tan there. And for the other review; it's not the Philadelphia cheesesteaks, Helle just had a baby boy, that I have seen in the salon several times. It sounds so bad when people need to make comments like that about other people. more

I'm so happy to see that Rio Tan is back again. Unique Tan was horrible and did not know what they were doing. Whar I always loved about Rio Tan is that they are so clean and I get the most awesome tan. I see the owner on hands and knees taking the beds apart all the time and cleans them inside and out. I love the personable atmosphere and that it's such a low pressure salon. Their prices are better than anyone in the area by far and they always have specials. I just went back and renewed mypackage and they sold me 16 Orbits for only $ 144.00 that is just such a great price. It's always a fun place to come and you never know what celebrity you will run into that day. Love you guys. more

Used to be the best in Venice-MDR-Santa monica.....now a dingy hole in the wall. helle ran the business into the ground, sad because it was a venice landmark for 25 + years, and was awesome when Joe was there....it took a dumb woman to destroy a piece of Venice history. management at Golds says she abandoned the business and is in another country on welfare. What happened to this place.....it used to be the happening place in Venice....the last I visited the Psycho manager Leslie was posting (notice all the posts by single posters?) disparaging the old owners, and now I visit and its run into the ground without a touch of personality...still better than getting laughed at on TV by the metrosexuals/bimbos at Sunset tan, but the owners should be ashamed for destroying a venice icon. Pros: history, not crowded, Cons: became just another tanning salon more

Diamond in the Rough 12/14/2006

I have to admit that I love to tan and I am used to going to these places that are really expensive, until I found this diamond in the rough. I walked in and was shown around, explained how each bed worked and felt at ease with the girl that was helping me, AMY, she was so helpful and the most knowledgeable person I have ever met at a tanning salon. On top of feeling extremely welcome, the prices were also welcoming. I really suggest that everyone check this place out. Pros: knowledgeable, great pricing for quality, great parking more

Much Better!! 4/16/2006

I stopped going here about 3 years ago because I never felt like I knew what I was getting when I bought something, and the people there just sort of gave me the creeps. But, after my friend told me they changed ownership, I recently went back with her. The staff was so helpful and nice. After Leslie (loved her) explained their packages to me I get it now and there was totally no pressure involved like at the salon I had been going to. I don't know what those other people are talking about either because when I was in the owners were actually in the salon. And I mean honestly, have you seen the owner of Starbuck's hanging out in their stores all the time? But I love it here now and with the new renovation they're working on it can only get better. A Diamond in the Rough 4/14/2006

I've been going here for about a year off and on - switching between a few salons. It was very obvious when ownership changed because it instantly went to a professional environment with staff that knew how to get me that tan I wanted - FINALLY! I'm not a body builder and I used to feel intimitade by the staff and customers that go there. Now I feel very welcomed and treated like everyone else. I Love this place and now I won't go anywhere else! This is truly a diamond in the rough. more
