Movie in the Park night - Dirty Dancing 7/17/2010

I go through Union Square pretty much everyday, but the best way to really enjoy it is during movie in the park night! the square was packed with people all gathered together to watch Dirty Dancing. Guys with Hot chocolate backpacks roamed the crowd to keep us warm. But I was content with my whisky and Snuggie. The movie was great, and we all clapped and cheered every time Patrick Swayze showed off his amazing body. The screen had a beautiful backdrop with the lit buildings. Just the perfect night! more

No better place to shop 11/13/2006

Union Square has it all. Macy's, Tiffany, Saks, and coming soon- Barney's of NY. Easy walk to everything. No finer shopping experience. Pros: variety of stores Cons: parking, crowds more

World class shopping 4/7/2003

Great upscale stores. Friendly helpful staff at every store we were in (Burberry, Ralph Lauren, Armani, Prada, Frette, Neimans, Coach, Hermes, Ann Taylor, Macys, Nordstrom, Banana Republic, etc, etc, etc)--except for Tiffany & Co but the store was so busy, maybe they were just a little frazzled from the crowd. Nice common area in the middle of the square, clean, good food. It was fun to ride the cable cars from the hotel. The only thing I would suggest is a directory map with the stores and locations on it--it's easy to forget which street a store was on if you want to go back to it. Overall: GREAT! Pros: Great stores, Great food, Clean for urban area Cons: No map of stores, Beggars more

Bring you wallet! 12/24/2002

A must see for any visitor to San Francisco. Great atmosphere and all the shops you could want. Great restaurants (like any section of SF). No parking so take public transportation. No bargains either, there are no outlets here, Saks 5th Ave., Macy's, FAO Schwarz, etc. more

great place to go shopping. majority of all stores are there. Pros: great selection, great atmosphere Cons: parking, stores far apart more

I've died and gone to shopping heaven! 11/18/2002

Aww Union Square! Niemans on one corner Saks on the other and beautiful jewelry every few feet. Walking west on Post street just off of Union Square is the most beautiful and lavish jewelry anywhere. The new Boucheron is to die for. Don't be afraid to go in. You may be the only person in the store and the sales staff is lovely with out being clingy. A stroll up and through Niemans is always a must. I was suprised to find out they only take AmEx and there own credit cards there. But not to worry, they'll have you an account open quicker than you can say Prada! The only thing I find odd about the square is the man with the Malibu Barbie tan passing out flyers for a men's couture shop. He's wearing brown shoes with a black suit! Pros: selection, parking more

shopper's paradise! 11/4/2002

I am a busy professional, so I need predictability when it comes to apparel and accessory shopping. Union Square is the best in this area. Union Square has everything - from stores like Neiman and Saks are great for necessities to stores like Anthropologie, FCUK, and Urban Outfitters for something different. more
