Ultimate Medical Academy Online 5/15/2011

" I have been attending UMA University Online for just over a year, working on my Associates degree in Billing and Coding and am looking forward to Graduation this summer 2011. I would recommend this college to anyone looking to advance yourself, or establish a new career, as the staff are the best. Classes are tough but manageable. As long as you pace yourself and put in the effort, success is a given. Best wishes to all UMA students !! more

I wish I had a time machine 7/27/2010

This school is so insanely ghetto. The teachers are a joke.. The last teacher I had was so high on xanax her tounge stuck to the roof of her mouth. Their lab instructors were 09 grads of the school. I have done the MA program and had all my credentials and was told PCT would be the next LPN.. That is such BS! We are paying 15 thousand to be a CNA, which by the way you can do for close to 500 or less. We have a girl in class that received straight F's all her mods and on her tests and she passed with a B+. Of course she did, they want her money. I applied as a unit clerk at my local hospital and when I got to the interview I mentioned I was going for PCT at Ultimate Medical Academy and she laughed and when she realized I wasnt joking, it became extremely awkward and the meeting ended. SURPRISE I didnt get the job. I could kick myself in the butt for ever signing up with this crooked school. The Dean of Education refers to people of color as "her people" and she is all tattooed up and has dread locks. NOT a great look for someone I am supposed to respect. It's a scam and I am surprised they even have a license to operate. I am trying to find a loophole in my contract to get out of it but I am in my last mod and even though I am already a MA and we work out of MA book and are referred to as MA, I just have to swallow the fact that I just paid 15 thousand FOR NOTHING. For certification I already have in my hand. I was lied to by the lady in Admissions * angela dale* and I am continually lied to on a daily basis. If you are reading this and considering UMA... please RUN as far as you can from this school. Do yourself a favor... COMMUNITY COLLEGE. Pros: Location Cons: Everthing Else more

Rating The Tampa Campus 7/8/2010

I began UMA in Tampa 8.29.2010 & will finish my externship hours 7.13.2010 . My experience there is not only have added to my education knowledge but also connected some great people. My course path was for a Patient Care Technician which gave me a vast amount of skills learned which will be put to good use. There are going to be good and bad reviews for every school out there. My take on it is you get out of your education experience what you put into it. Would I recommend this school? Yes, to someone who is willing to put the effort & time into learning. Pros: instructors, fast pace, onsite lab, great cirriculm more

"Not worth it" 8/28/2009

Really, this school is a major waste of money. I do not reccoment it to anyone.. their training is not respected by doctors, they sell you a dream! and don't even help you find a job. don't even bother, save your money for a regionally accredited college.. now i'm stuck paying back 7500 for a school that is not respected by any facility!. Pros: "Really BAD BAD CHOICE" Cons: "REALLY BAD CHOICE" more

INSTRUCTORS HAVEN'T EVEN GRADUATED COLLEGE! THEY HIRE ANYONE 4/10/2009

I took a class at this school and, after 2 years, I still have NO job practicing phlebotomy! Their only "job placement" attempts are ads from craigslist and the classifieds from the paper! I can find those myself! They have no connections, this place is a scam! When I have found openings in this field, they have told me that UMA's certificate is no good! My instructor's name was Rachel Gebo and I found out later that she isn't even certified to be an instructor! She didn't even go to college! I am amazed by the scam this place is running! HOW DOES A COLLEGE GIVE A PERSON (WHO NEVER WENT TO COLLEGE TO BE A TEACHER) A JOB TEACHING??? DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR MONEY! TAKE IT FROM ME, 2 YEARS LATER AND I CANNOT FIND A JOB DOING THIS! ONCE YOU 'GRADUATE' - WHICH IS A STUPID PINNING CEREMONY, YOU NO LONGER GET THEIR HELP AS FAR AS FINDING A JOB! Cons: STILL HAVE NO JOB! WASTE OF MONEY! BAD TEACHERS! more

Do not look for the school to help with placement in these difficult times 11/18/2008

Do not do it. The teaching was good, but the school does not guarantee placement. That is all well and good in a good economy, but in a bad economy such as now, I feel that I threw my money out the window. After finishing school and externship, most jobs out there require certification during these difficult times plus experience. Try nursing instead. It takes longer, but nurses are always in demand. And the pay for medical assistant is $10-$12 per hour to start. Pros: Good instructors Cons: It's all about money when the economy is tough. more
