Nice space but the employees seem a bit lost. Last time there they were having plumbing problems, and they had us slosh across smelly wet carpets to get to our theater. Yuck.

A Great Experience 5/2/2003

For some reason, every time I go to this movie theater, it's not packed to the gills with thugs. It's never even really crowded for that matter. It's clean, the staff is friendly and the facility is exceptional. Maybe a little out of the way depending on where you live, and there's not much to do within walking distance once the movie lets out (especially the later ones) so plan on a cab ride when you're done. Pros: Never Crowded, Good Movie Selections Cons: Nothing to do in the more

not so bad... 4/24/2003

I can't imagine where the few others that gave this theater a bad review are from. I've recently come to the BP area after living various other places throughout the 5 boroughs. This theater is everything you want in a theater in NYC... it's very spacious, UNCROWDED, clean, and very comfortable. I challenge anyone to find all those qualities in another theater in Manhattan. Sure the staff sucks at times, this is NYC!! The staff sucks everywhere! what would a venture out on NYC be without some gratuitous attitude on the parts of the staff?? All jokes aside, I was impressed, and tho I can do without the poor service, I can live with it, as I do most other places in this city. Pros: Space/Comfort, Uncrowded, Quality Sound/Picture Cons: Unprofessional Staff, Clueless Staff, Limited Concessions more

Is it closing? 3/31/2003

First of all, the ticket guy was flippant when we pointed out a mistake on his end with the change which is not a good way to start a movie-going experience! For a 16 screen theatre, this place was unbelieveably empty: there was one concession stand person for all 3 floors, only one soap dispenser was stocked in the ladies room, and we only saw about 15 other faces the entire time we were there. Sure they have great films, it's easy to get great seats, good sound, etc. However, Ii really got the feeling that this place will get closed down any minute now. Pros: selection, good seats, seats Cons: rude employees, location, limited resources more

Finally a quiet place to watch a film! 3/21/2003

I have been going to this theatre for quiet some time now, and I always enjoy the movie going experience here. I love how spacious, clean and never crowded it is. There may be the occassional times when it becomes busy but that's not often. Also, the crowd is normally quiet and well behaved too. I highly recommend going the extra mile to catch a movie at this theatre. Also, for the ladies, you will be hard pressed to find any long lines for the bathroom here! Pros: Short lines, Clean, Roomy Seating, Nice, quiet area Cons: Distance from subways, Concession choices more

Best Downtown Movie theater 1/12/2003

Easy to get to. Parking and restaurants nearby all offer movid ticket price reductions. Roomy new theaters with great, unblocked seating. Wheelchair accessible and set up. Decent concession. Interesting neighborhood. Excellent park on the Hudson one block west. world financial complex and exhibits across the street. Two blocks from Century 21 Pros: clean, discounted tickets, cheap eats nearby Cons: off the beaten track, standard selection more

If you live in BPC or Lower Manhattan the theatre has a great location. And it's not usually super-crowded it isn't too hard to get into a show at the time you want. But overall, it's pretty similar to most movie theaters. Cons: the escalators more

Exellent, clean and quiet 8/10/2002

this theater is new and therefore the plae is clean, organized, and very comfortable. good if you like to go to the movies and you just want to watch the movie without being disturbed. From all the times I have gone, I never had to make a sigle line, and there was no more than 15 people in each movie room. Pros: Clean, Organized, Comfort more

Eh. 7/21/2002

It's not that there's anything particularly wrong with this place, it's just not that great. The positives are that it's almost always uncrowded, the sight and sound aspects are usually acceptable (though there are exceptions), and the seating is comfortable. On the other hand, it's entirely inconvenient, the place is starting to fall apart, and the employees are totally indifferent to whatever you say...best not to bother most of the time. For my money, I'd rather go uptown to the Zeigfeld or the Empire 25...at least I can find those places. And it's totally not their fault, but I don't care how good an evening you're having, it's quite the mood-killer to have to walk around Ground Zero before and after your show. Pros: Seats Cons: Location, Proximity to WTC site, Indifferent employees more

Still wet behind the ears. 7/14/2002

Great theater, if you can find it 5/29/2002

This is probably one of the best multiplexes in the city. It is spacious and modern, has stadium seating, and the screens and sound are very good. The hard part is finding the place, since it has a somewhat obscure entrance in a non-descript Embassy Suites building in a part of town that few people are familiar with. (The M22 bus goes right to it, but from the subway you have to navigate the confusing terrain around the ex-WTC site and cross the West Side Highway.) The upshot is that once you're there, lines are rare and sold out showings are practically non-existent. Also, there are several restaurants in the same building for a convenient pre- or post-movie meal. more
