Worst

Based on reviews on citysearch, was anxious to try this restaurant. Went last night for an early dinner and must say it was very disappointing. Though the place was not crowded ...

OK Food, Good Service, Close To My Apartment:) 7/26/2009

I've eaten at this place a handful times over the past year, and I'll probably keep going back. The food is not great, but edible, and especially complimentary with drunkenness (probably all the grease). Its a little expensive for what it is-Junky Chinese food. Their fried shrimp appetizer (which is very good, and similar to the puffy, greasy 'east coast' Chinese batter) yields only 5 very small pieces of shrimp and costs about $7 or $8 :( Same with the egg rolls...Only 4 for $6. The fried rice and lo mien are standard prices and standard portions (I think $8 or $9). All the in house meats; beef, shrimp & chicken are a bit on the mystery side, resembling perhaps a distant cousin of its professed meatness, but not tasting quite proper. Rubbery & slimy is the beef, and the shrimps and chicken pieces have weird floury stuff all over it. Strange. The key is to be drunk while eating this food:) The service is great-They're fast, and the Big guy who packs up your to-go leftovers is great! Its amazing to watch him get all the food from your plate in the box without spilling any. The drinks; Scorpion is GREAT. One is enough, and cheap, too, at only $7 or $8 (a scorpion is equal in power to 2 martinis) I tried a cosmopolitan martini here, and hooo-It was bad. It was clear with a slight orange tinge, tasting like tap water w/ a splash of vodka. A martini should burn your throat a bit in bitter taste going down...This tasted only reminiscent of any alcohol. The glass had no condensation, either...I think they poured tap water into the glass with a shot of vodka.???? I don't know, but the scorpions are good. For a place 2 minutes from my house on foot, it's a good choice. OK food, nice people, consistent (even if the food itself is sub par, at least you know what you're getting). Can't go too, too wrong if your expectations are set low before you go. Pros: Scorpion Drink & Greasy Food Cons: Mystery Meat & Martinis more

Good for all the single gals!!! 11/25/2008

I'm a small girl that doesnt eat very much but Oh.!!! the food here is Oh so good.!!!\r They seated me close to the bathroom. That was convieniant. \r I had been here once before and remembered liking the shu mai so I ordered an order of that and a glass of wine (don't remember which one but it was white wine and served in a glass).\r The cute waiter brought me dumpling soup (I admit I ordered it) and I had tried it somewhere else that won't be mentioned (rymes with Fok on Wire) and it wasn't like this.!!! The dumpings here fit in the plastic spoon perfectly and the lemon or something in the soup made me feel Chinese.\r The first time at Twin Dragon I had the mushu chicken and it was great but I thought I should try something different so I had the mushu pork. OMG.!!! the pancake things were so good and the sauce too! It didn't even seem like pork to me but it was so excellent that I have ever tried. A+++++\r Desert.!!! I had fried icecream. Fried and icecream, color me happy.\r To wrap things up, cute waitors (well, one anyway) and good ambiance.\r See you there.!!!\r \r \r Pros: Best Chinese. Nice service. My cat loves the Seafood Fantasy!!!!! Cons: more expensive than Panda Express more

best Chinese food in town 6/4/2008

I was amazed to read reviews that criticized the Twin Dragon's service. I've been eating there for more than 20 years and the staff has never been anything but totally gracious. When I go there with my husband we know we'll get not only the best Chinese food in town, quiet art on the walls, and no annoying music--- but also waiters who know our tastes. About ten years ago the manager told my husband that before getting married I had come there alone, and always seemed sad...and that marriage had made me happy. It's true, and I will always cherish that memory. more

The good food helped me overlook the awful service till today 3/25/2008

I've always enjoyed the food at this restaurant and have always been willing to overlook the bad attitudes of the wait staff. Over time it was progressivly gotten worse and today I just couldnt take it anymore. I took a friend there who had never been. The waiter walks up and without greeting asks what we want. We ordered some spring rolls and he walks out like he was angry that we werent ready to order our entrees after only being there for 2 minutes. He comes back and without saying anything, throws (no joke) 2 saucers down on the table. A few minutes later he brings the spring rolls out and sits then right on top of my friends menu. We both over looked all of that. After waiting 15 minutes he never came back to take our order. When he was walking past me I said ""excuse me"" and he deliberatly ignored me and continued walking. At that point I was getting angry but we decided to give him a few more minutes. He never came back so we got up and I went to the front where I told the woman at the cash register our experience as well as the manager. To top it all of, as I'm standing there speaking to the manager, the waiter comes up and leans in between us to grab something as if he knows very well I'm speaking about him but he could care less... The majority of the waitstaff give attitude but this as been the worst. He's old (55ish) about 5'10, lanky, and has puffed up hair on top. Definatly not going back after this event, unless I get a sincere apology more

realy bad and cold food 2/11/2008

I really feel duped by going there. The food came to me prepared totaly wrong and brought to my table less then warm. The restraunt is dingy outdated and seems very unkept. I should have trusted my instinks on this one and walked out but I didnt.\r WARNING IF YOU LIKE GOOD FOOD AND CLENLINESS AVOID THIS RESTARANT! more

Not a good experience for delivery 8/12/2007

We ordered delivery from Twin Dragon last nite. I would say it was not to my liking at all. The egg foo young was not good at all. The lo mein tastless and the white meat chicken seems odd and rubbery. We also had the chicken fried rice which was also bland. I guess I will stick with Wok on Fire on La Cienga for delivery. Pros: Delivery available Cons: Not good more

Disappointing Cantonese 7/23/2007

Based on reviews on citysearch, was anxious to try this restaurant. Went last night for an early dinner and must say it was very disappointing. Though the place was not crowded at all due to the early hour, we were seated in an area with two families. Each of them had a young child who screamed throughout our meal. Asked if the sweet and sour chicken was white meat, and they said they could make it with white meat chicken. It was crunchy! Pork with crispy noodles was dry and not very flavorful. Egg foo young was unspectacular. Dinner for three with 2 glasses of wine and a beer (with tip) was $90.00. Will now stick with my favorite take-out place on the west side: Canton Kitchen on Venice and Centinela. 100% better food. more

Fills a good, greasy Chinese food fix 7/9/2007

Delicious Chinese food that you couldn't eat everyday. Stick with the standards and you'll be golden - lo mein, aromatic shrimp, etc. Reminds me of an old school Long Island Chinese restaurant complete with wacky drinks such as a Navy Grog and a Blue Hawaii. The ambience leaves a lot to be desired, but the wait staff is prompt. Enjoy and indulge. Pros: good food, good value Cons: ambience more

Good solid neighborhood Chinese fare 7/6/2007

(I haven't dined in yet, so this is based on numerous takeout/delivery experiences.) The staff is super sweet and helpful, and while the menu has a lot of old standards, everything seems fresh and made with love and care. (The portions and prices remind me of Chicago's Chinatown in the 90's!) I liked the chicken and creamy corn soup, which had what seemed like a whole chicken breast's worth of meat, a nice contrast in textures and a base that was neither gooey nor too sweet. This with a side of pickled cabbage (yes, they have kimchi!) has gotten me through the flu more than once. I also enjoyed the aromatic scallop, garlic chicken, shredded pork and twice cooked pork. The advice to ask your server for recommendations is probably sound. Otherwise I rate this good to very good -- plus it's right in my backyard! Pros: Great decor and perfect, dimly lit, old-time cocktail lounge Cons: Parking lot is small but meters are plentiful more

Tasteless food and decor 4/24/2007

I too was sucked in by the packed parking lot. I thought there must be a reason that the place was so packed on weekends - but if there is, I sure couldn't figure it out. The food was tasteless. The decor was nothing special. I won't go back when there are so many good restaurants in the area. Pros: Service Cons: Tasteless food, have to order soup in 2 person orders more

Best Chinese Ever 3/16/2007

OMG!!!! Best food ever!!!!!! I recommend the Aromatic Shrimp and the Shanghai crispy fish fillets the Spicy Shrimp, the shrimp sizzling rice soup OMG!!! and the moo-shoo shrimp is very yummy and basically everything else on the menu is amazing. I've honestly never tried something that I didn't love. Service is great. Ask your waiter about chef specialties there are lots of great dishes that aren't on the menu. I'm sure you will love your experience. Pros: Everything is amazing Cons: absolutely nothing more

Great Food & Stiff Drinks!! 1/10/2007

I love this place. I've been here several times and the food is consistently delicious. My favorite dishes are the aromatic prawns and Mongolian beef. The small parking lot can get crowded in the evening but street parking in the residential area is easy to find. Even on a busy night, there is never a long wait for hot and tasty food and it goes by even faster while sipping on one of their fishbowl sized cocktails. Pros: Food, Drinks & Seating Time Cons: Paid Lot or Street Parking more

Really Bad Food and Delivery! 5/1/2006

The food at this place is really tasteless and limp. I ordered about 10 dishes for a dinner party and the delivery man showed up 1 hour late! The food had barely any taste...in fact most of the dishes tasted the same. I think it might have had MSG or something in it. Most of my guests didn't eat much so I had to throw it all away. I don't recommend this place. There are so many good restaurants in LA...this one is terrible. Cons: bad delivery, bad food, bad bad bad!!! more

Consistently Excellent 11/9/2005

I have been frequenting this restaurant for many years and have found both the dine in and delivery service to be above par. The service by waiters and delivery staff is always friendly and prompt. more

Delivery was horrible!!! 7/13/2005

I live a couple blocks from Twin Dragon and was always intrigued by the overstuffed parking lot as I drove past. I had eaten in to find the food decent, but upon ordering the same food on delivery several months ago, I encountered the most bland Mongolian Beef and Aromatic chicken in chinese food history. It either had been sitting too long or not flavored enough or a poor combination of both. Shockingly different from what I had tasted in the restaurant. I understand that something gets lost in the delivery process, but it was almost painful to eat. Pros: quick delivery Cons: Bland, bitter, overrated more

User review by ag69123 3/19/2005

If you want great authentic Chinese food you have to go to Monterey Park or Chinatown. Twin Dragon comes close, I'd say it is the best Chinese restaurant I've been to on the westside. more

Used to be a fan but that is gone now 1/25/2005

If you see the sign just keep going. Once the main waiter left this place went downhill. ow it's just bland with bad service. Go west a few blocks and go to Fu's Palace Pros: Well it's food Cons: The food is bland more

Great Chinese food! 1/22/2005

This is one of my favorite places for Chinese. This place is usually packed for dinner but the wait is worth it. The service is really good. We stick with the same waited everytime and we always start off our meal with the minced chicken in lettuce cups. That is soo good. You can order your meal however you want it, our waiter knows I love my food spicy so that's what I get. The scorpions are the best drinks there! I highly recommend this place. Pros: service, food, drinks more

Yuck 1/6/2005

Ozzie and Harriett wouldn't even eat this. Get to PF Chang's! Shame on the concierge at the Beverly Hilton for recommending it. Pros: n/a Cons: , Boring , Tasteless more
