I wish I could give a NEGATIVE rating 11/22/2010

Groom's stepfather went out of his way (3 hour drive) to make sure he got fitted for his suit for my son's wedding this past october. Son picked up the suit (since we don't live nearby) and trusted that the salesperson helping him checked the suit and accessories while my son checked the sizes on his receipt. When we arrived in town Saturday afternoon, suit and length was the wrong size, shirt was two sizes too big and the tie was the wrong color. They close at 4PM on Saturday and closed on Sunday so we could do nothing about it. Called after wedding and was given rude customer service. Asked to have the owner call me and he never did, Disputed the charge with my credit card and The Country Gent said it was our responsibility to make sure we got the right size! What nonsense and shoddy service. You can read the whole story on my blog at topweddingsites dot com. Please don't trust these characters with your once in a lifetime event! more

Fabulous Experience! 11/20/2009

Everyone has such terrible things to say and I have no idea why- I found ""the dress"" in a magazine 3 YEARS before I got engaged. After he popped the question I started calling around to try to track the dress down. The country bride had it, and I went, was measured, and paid the down payment in about 15 minutes! Yes, they SUGGESTED a 6, but I told them I felt more comfortable in a 4. They gave me no problem, just noted on the order form that I requested a 4- I'm sure this was to ""cover their butts"" in case the 4 didnt fit and I tried to complain about it. Dress fit perfectly, will have to be altered for length. YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO USE THEIR SEAMSTRESS. If you need alterations, you are welcome to take it somewhere else if you think you will get a better price, they told me this cheerfully. People- this means they do not make money on alterations. They are not going to force you to buy a bigger size so they make money. If you don't agree with their suggestion, speak up. You are a grown woman. \r I love this place! Pros: Had a dress I was hunting down, Friendly! Cons: None! more

In defense 10/1/2009

I want to start out by saying that I am an employee of the Country Bride. I have been working there for a year and a half now as a bridal consultant. There are a few things that I would like to clarify about the country bride as it seems we are getting some what of a bad rap here. \r The women that I work with are phenomenal women. They all truly LOVE what they do and will bend over backwards to make sure that everything is just right for your special day! We do not work off of commission so there is no reason for us to push a sale. We truly all do it for the love of the job. As far as sizing goes, we do our absolute best to order the size that is closest to your fit. The store does NOT make money off of alterations so we do NOT benifit if your gwon needs to be taken in. The seamstresses are subcontractors, they make up thier own pricing based off of what needs to be done to the dress. Often times these gowns have mutiple layers, beading, boning, lace and other attibutes that make altering your gown both difficult and time consuming. If you believe that sample gown fits you well you can absolutly request that size. If in the consultants professional opinion she believes that you should go up in size then she will express that. The look and fit of the gown is what is in our best interest and once again we have NOTHING to gain by ordering you a bigger size. Keep in mind that we do order based on the largest part of the body. That means if your gown fits you great in the hips and large in the bust then you will have to have the top taken in. That is the case in most situations as we are not all built completly proportionate. Trust me, this is not some cruel joke we play on you. \r I want to take a minute to say how unbelievably amazing my manager is, Susan. This women is so compassionate and so caring. She pays attention to every single detail. Each bridal party recieves specific attention from her. She will absolutly work with you over any concern that you have. She is genuine. \r To wrap this up her are a few tips to insure the best service possible...always make an appointment, do your research meaning bring in pictures and style #'s of what you like if we don't have the exact gown you're interested in we prob have something very similar. Don't bring to many people with you to your bridal appointment, to many opinions cause an overload, it's frusterating to the bride and to the consultant. And last but not least PLEASE ladies wear a strapless bra and full bottem underwear! \r We have married off thousands of happy brides over the past thirty years and we will continue to share warm hugs and happy tears with our lovely brides! To the nay sayers, I am very sorry that you did not have a pleasant experience but as they say ""you can't please everyone"" but we certainly try! Pros: staff more

Why so negative?? 9/2/2009

I went to many other stores in search of the ""perfect"" bridal gown, to my dismay I couldn't find anything. I made an appointment, met with Michelle, and she worked with me for what seemed like 3 hours. I am incredibly indecisive, she offered me her opinion, didn't push it, made jokes and all around made the experience delightful. I went back a few months later when my dress came in also to pick out my brides maids gowns and Michelle wasn't there. The other staff were no where to be found, which made a lot of things extremely difficult. I'd say to make your experience here a positive one: make sure that you make appointments AHEAD of time - do not just show up, keep an open mind, and make sure you speak up - if you don't like something, or don't want something to be ordered bigger - speak your mind or how else will anyone know what your thinking? Pros: Michelle (one of the sales associates), patience, price Cons: The other staff more

horrible service, ignorant people 8/29/2009

DON'T GO THERE! 10/20/2008

WORST STORE EVER! They ordered my dress two sizes bigger (I am a fit model, so I know my size!), and the woman said, ""My mistake"" and started altering it. I figured since it was ""her mistake"" she would fix the problem, since the freaking dress took three months to come in, and then she handed me a bill for $120, which was $5 more than the dress itself! She didn't TELL ME that she was going to charge me for alterations - she just started altering. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE. RIP OFF RIP OFF. They also talk about you in front of your face in Russian - she didn't think I could understand her, but as I was leaving, I heard her talking about another woman being FAT to another employee. How professional is THAT? Pros: Location Cons: Service, prices more

Strongarm you into bigger sizes to cash in on alterations 9/22/2008

My mother & I went there when I first started looking for wedding dresses and found the perfect dress. The sample fitted perfectly but the saleslady strongarmed me into buying a larger size 'cause ""you can always take it in but you can't let it out."" We were told we should order right then because it takes 8-10 months to arrive. Well, I got a call in 4 wks saying my dress was in and, when I asked how it arrived so soon was told that ""either it was a sample or someone else's cancelled dress."" I tried it on and it was HUGE .. come to find out they did not order 1 size above the sample but 2 SIZES LARGER THAN THE PERFECT FIT SAMPLE! Even though it came early, they wouldn't hold the dress there & when I asked for a new bag [mine had a big gash down the side] was told I was ""lucky"" to be able to take the garment bag because they usually just let people have those plastic dry cleaner bags. My bridesmaids also all ordered their dresses from there & every single one of the girls were convinced to buy bigger. One of the girls even got into a shouting match with the salesperson because the lady was insistent she buy the larger size! My wedding dress looks ridiculous and, given the cut and style, will not be easy to alterate. I have had places tell me they could not do it & recommend I try to exchange the dress for the right size. When I discussed them, I had me speak to the manager who, when I was describing the problems, shut me down with a quick snappy response, insisting I had to meet with their head seamstress who could ""work wonders"" & anyway, she's sure it really isn't as bad as I'm pretending. Of course, the seamstress is only there 1 nite a wk for a few hrs so I would have to leave work early to accomodate their schedule. It's sad, really, I find my perfect dress &, regardless of who does alternations, it'll never look as perfect as it woould if the correct size had been ordered to begin with! Plus, I'll pretty much end up doubling my costs with alterations! more

Would not be my top choice 7/16/2008

My best friend and I went here to look for a wedding gown for her destination wedding because we were told over the phone that they had 'alot of them'. The sales woman was not rude, but she also was not overly kind or considerate the way you would expect a bridal consultant to be. She kept insisting 'she had THE dress'--a short beaded contraption, that was not AT ALL what we were looking for, and insisted she try it on. We were looking for simple, lightweight, long, and elegant. She kept bringing us heavy, beaded dresses, and seemed irritated that we weren't happy with them. She also kept reminding us when they closed (which was in 'a half hour"", ""15 minutes"")--really rushed and annoying.\r I must say, in the end, she suggested a bridesmaids dress, which ended up being exactly what we were looking for (which is why i gave 2 stars instead of 1), but the process of getting there was not a pleasant one. The price was right, and it took approximately 3 months to come in.\r I would not recomend this place, based solely on the service. They did not have a selection that you couldn't see any where else, and I have been to other bridal boutiques that will treat you alot better with such an important thing that is supposed to be exciting and-dare I say-FUN! Pros: close by, open late Cons: sales people more

No problem so far 3/26/2008

I don't understand why everyone says negative things about this place. I went in on a Thursday night, the night before we had the snow storm. The woman helping me and another woman stayed till after the store closed to help me find a dress. \r \r So far, I have not had a bad experience. They called me back when I left a message. Now granted if something happens, I will need to deal with that...however, for now, I am happy to say, I have not had any problems. \r \r Pros: convenient, staff was helpful Cons: not much of a selection for veils more

Worst Place Ever - Save yourself the time and do not go! 11/3/2007

I've been to many bridal shops and thought previously that David's Bridal was a rough place due to the large crowd that is always there. I had to go to Country Bride for a bridesmaid dress for my friends wedding. The people were rude, profane at times, and just all out unprofessional. They also strongarm you into ordering bigger sizes to secure alterations. The prices were comparable to other shops although you might as well go somewhere else and be treated better. Pros: Comparable prices Cons: Horrible Service more

HORRIBLE SERVICE 12/22/2006

I want everyone to know how horrible the service here is. I originally looked for wedding gowns at Country Bride and service was not too bad, hence us coming back to look at bridesmaid dresses. However, after yesterday's visit, I would NOT recommend anyone go to this shop. My girlfriend (who is my bridesmaid) and I went to Country Bride looking for bridesmaids dresses. When we walked in, we were originally ignored and there was no greeting at all. That was followed by staring until we were forced to asked ""Are you closed?"". The woman at the front desk said ""Yes"", which was untrue. They did not close for another 1 1/2 hour. She then told us to go look at the dresses ""OVER THERE. We have 500 of them."" We looked at the dresses ourselves and was left to ourselves without any help or anyone even asking us if we needed help. WARNING: If this is how they treat you when you walk in, think of how they would treat you once you bought a dress and had issues. I don't think they would be rushing to help you resolve the issue. Cons: HORRIBLE SERVICE more
