There are some downsides:
I am disappointed, that you really don't get anything for buying unlimited tanning. All the other places I went and paid for unlimited tanning gave me coupons for half off a lotion, good discounts on products, freebie cards for one free tan to give to my friends, and/or a free trial tan in higher level beds. (One place even gave me a tee-shirt.) I definitely think Tropics needs to do something like that. I also think that they're kind of pricey compared to other places I have been. (Especially since their discounts aren't great: only 10% for students and military.) It's around $50 for one month of unlimited level 1 tanning. I'm used to paying $25 - $30 and getting just as nice of a tan.
BUT there's also some great positives:
Everything is always very clean! The beds always look great, and I've never had an issue with the bulbs being burnt out. The second time I went tanning I was already seeing results! If you think you're not tanning well here, you should talk to the staff and maybe try another lotion before writing the salon off. In addition to being friendly, the staff is really knowledgeable about their products and eager to help you achieve a great tan. I also love how I'm always greeted by name when I enter and thanked when I'm leaving.
I definitely recommend trying this place.
Pros: No wait, level 1 tans well, friendly and knowledgeable staff
Cons: Pricey even with discounts
