Best cupcakes in Seattle (and I've tried most!) 3/12/2007

Trophy Cupcakes are perfect. I know perfect is an extreme word but it's true. First, their cake as amazing. Moist but not greasy. The cake itself is probably the best cake I've ever had. Then comes the frosting. Just the perfect amount. Each bite is frosted but there isn't so much it overwhelms the cake. There are the usual flavors but also some nice creative additions. The shop itself is darling and the employees seem nice. I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for a great cupcake and a nice atmosphere. more

Great Cupcakes 3/2/2007

As a former cupcake 'froster' at Magnolia Bakery in NYC, I regard myself as a cupcake snob. Verite/Cupcake Royale cupcakes are dry and uncreative, but the cupcakes at Trophy are perfect. The range of flavors and selection of tea make this place a perfect spot for easing a sweet tooth. It is also very child friendly. more

Addictive cupcakes in Wallingford 3/2/2007

Trophy Cupcakes is a relatively new cupcake and coffee place in the Wallingford Center. I think the cupcakes are way better than those at Verite/Cupcake Royale. I'm not a chocolate lover, but my husband swooned at their triple chocolate cupcakes. The cake part is made with Valrhona cocoa, and the frosting is made with some decadent Belgian chocolate I don't remember the name of. There must be some third kind of chocolate in it, but not being a chocolate fan, I wasn't paying close attention! I love their red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, and their snickerdoodle cupcakes (cinnamon swirl with cinnamon frosting). They have a rotating menu of flavors, and if I could, I'd go there every day and try something different. The only thing I don't like about the cupcakes is that they're $3 each, and not all that big. Of course, they have coffee and tea, and they also have at least two different kinds of hot chocolate (American, French, and maybe Mexican as well). The store also sells gorgeous vintage-y party decorations and invitations, and the decor is crisply pretty and inviting. It's my favorite place to go for a little portion-controlled indulgence. more
