Unfriendly and unhelpful staff. \r \r My yoga class experience here was ruined by the atmosphere created by the front-desk staff. Both of the individuals I've encountered there in my few classes at Triangle were very rude. When I showed up for classes, they acted like I was inconveniencing them with my presence. Triangle needs to really focus on creating a more welcoming space. more

I heart Triangle Yoga 5/3/2010

There are several things I would like to say about Triangle Yoga. First, the space is amazing. The light filled rooms, clean floors and spaces, and the general vibe is positive and uplifting. Whatever burden I am carrying seems to lift off my shoulders when I walk into the studio. Second, the variety of classes is awesome. If I want an intense vinyasa, a deep stretch, a restorative, a reflective yin, or a heart-centered anusara class, I can find it at Triangle (and do on a regular basis!). Last but not least, the teachers I have had the blessing/honor of practicing with are true yogis. The depth of knowledge, care, focus, and heart is astounding. I moved here from Manhattan and never thought I would find the variety and level of mastery in our small town of Chapel Hill. I was totally wrong. I have found true teachers here and am forever grateful to Triangle Yoga for providing the vehicle for my growing practice. One last note, while the various forms of payment options is at first perplexing, it is actually just an artifact of so many choices and flexibility provided by the studio. One size does not fit all and so there are many sizes provided, from drop-ins to stimulus cards, to long term commitments. Oh, I also love the variety of workshops offered and the amazing teachers that come from across the country to teach here. Enough rambling...I could go on and on. Bottom line - I love, love, love Triangle Yoga. Pros: teachers, teachers, teachers Cons: not enough time in the day to spend at Triangle Yoga more

My home for yoga! 4/27/2010

From the first time I walked into Triangle Yoga I felt welcome and right at home. The teachers are consistently engaging and mindful of a room filled with diverse abilities. I look forward to each class and leave feeling even better. The environment is super clean, and filled with light, parking is never a problem, prices are the most reasonable in town for the quality and length of each class...and I've made life-long friends. Pros: Variety, knowledgeable teachers and great student base. more

Pricey? 3/17/2010

I am confused! Why would anyone say that this studio is pricey when they offer the MOST affordable class prices in town and all the props are on the house? At $10 per class, excellent instruction, and clearly the most exquisite rooms to practice in (there are 3, not 2 as a previous commenter said), these gifts cannot be beat. Contrary to what some 'prickly' others have said (must've been a bad day for them?) the owners are CHARMING....and both are dedicated yogis that want only to serve the public and bring peace to the yoga community. Pros: Most affordable yoga in town! Cons: Would LOVE a sister studio in Durham more

I love Triangle Yoga 12/15/2009

This is the first place I go daily, when possible, despite the price per class being a bit pricey; why? Because the teachers are wonderful, instruction and philosophy is incredible, it is warm, not snobby as some have written,(maybe they own another studio, I just don't get that comment). Cost to run such a studio is high, and, having worked as an aerobics instructor myself, in a small, non-chain studio, I know for a fact, the owners simply make ends meet. Period. They own, run, it because they love yoga, and want the best for their clients. Namaste. Pros: teachers Cons: costly more

I have read a lot of the negative reviews on this site. I agree that one of the owners is not terribly welcoming or ""user-friendly"". That is is a downside. Compared to Franklin Street where the owner is warm and welcoming, TY can be a bit off-putting. Where Triangle excels, however, is the number of offerings and teachers, some of which are true ""yogis"" when it comes to teaching and living yoga. I have chosen to overlook the owner's grouchy attitude in order to take advantage of what does work there: the staff. The current masseuse, Sage, is excellent as a body work practitioner but is also knowledgable about yoga, meditation and various other practices of potential interest to those who use her services. Overall, each person needs to decide for themselves, but I personally see more good that bad at Triangle Yoga. Though you'd never know it from what you read, there are many many happy ""frequent fliers"" at TY. Give it a try, see if it works for you. Plus, what some people consider ""gruff"" others may view as merely ""professional"" or ""businesslike"". Pros: Good teachers, body work, owner a little gruff Cons: a little prickly, a little money-focussed more

rude staff, unwelcoming atmosphere 9/3/2009

Just driving by this place gives me a bad feeling now. The actual yoga I've experienced at this studio was terrific. However, it's not worth it to deal with the rude ownership, uninformed office staff, and cloudy policies for me to ever return. Upon a first visit, I liked the rooms and really thought this might be a great place to center and practice. But the owner and staff are prickly, unhelpful, unsettling and unwilling to be flexible when unforeseen circumstances come up. I left one day in tears. Other studios in town are less expensive for a much, MUCH better experience. I hope to see some of their talented instructors in other studios one day. Pros: great instructors Cons: everything else more

Too money hungry 8/17/2009

Too expensive and too business-like. Some good teachers, very good, but some just act. It's too bad, I'd like to go more often because I live a couple blocks away, but the vibes are bad. Pros: Some good teachers Cons: Money more

Great Atmosphere, Dreamy Celestial Spaces, Conveniently Accessible Location, Popular yet Close-Knit 9/16/2008

What about all the positive reviews? I suppose City Search more easily picks up the negatives. . . \r And here are my two cents. . . \r \r I love Triangle Yoga because. . . The teachers really live in their yoga. As a yoga teacher myself, I can confidently say with ease that those instructors truly know what they're leading. . .having mastered their particular fields of study and through extensive practice. . . There is an impressive collection of those offering their wealth of knowledge and skill at Triangle Yoga, who, from my experience, offer a wonderful treat for anyone interested in going deeper in the direction of one's choice. . . I recommend perusing their fall schedule~ There is something for everyone 7 days a week; There is a definitive style to which the charismatic founder and owner brings to the gorgeous space. A Lovely Atmosphere. It is both holistic and eclectic in the variety of backgrounds and teachings brought together, forming a wide array of styles and levels to choose from: Nia for Yogis, Aerial Yoga, (The Best!!!) Anusara Yoga Classes, Kids Yoga, Therapeutics, Yoga for Athletes, Vinyasas, Hathas, Ashtangas, Flows, Pre&Post Natal Yogas, etc. Triangle Yoga is the anchor, not to mention the founding establishment which brought yoga to our Chapel Hill area to begin with! (I learned that just the other week) The Dedication and Devotion from TY's history reiterates my sentiment. As a forever-yoga-student who frequents a mere 3 of choice locations as of late, (including) Triangle Yoga, I invite anyone seeking a wonderful and quality experience to relish that great space for all that its worth. (It may be more than you think!) :)\r Pros: IDEAL: Great Energy, Beautiful & Spacious, Location (near towncenter, even on buslines!) Cons: It's not opened 24 hours (?) more

Unplesant studio, bad yoga 5/13/2008

This is quite possibly the worst yoga studio I have ever been to. The instructors do not teach, they just call out the names of poses. The prices are very high in comparison to the other studios in the area and the overall vibe of the studio is "I am better than you". Their focus seems to be on "doing" yoga and complicated and maybe inappropriate yoga poses as opposed to really living in a manner consistent with yogic philosophy or practicing asanas safely. more

The owner has set her intention to make money and not grow a loyal customers base 2/13/2008

I have been a practioner at triangle yoga for about a year. The owner is money obsessed. I had five classes left on my prepaid card. I had been sick for several weeks. When I finally came back my card had expired the day before. I had to pay $20.00 just to get my last five already paid for classes. No flexibilty with her. I certainly understand setting some time period for adminstrative reasons, but 3 months is too short. The owner is rude, very difficult to approach and not very plesant to deal with . Not the sort of person you would think would own a yoga studio. I'm moving on to a more customer focused studio. more
