Convenient Place to Start Shopping 8/18/2005

If you're anywhere near the tri-city (Fremont, Newark, Union City) area it's a good idea to visit Tri-City for your sporting good needs. They really do have an enormous selection of basically any sport you can think of. Their prices are better than the smaller specialty stores too. The staff there is not terribly good, though. They emply a lot of high schoolers who have rudimentary knowledge about what they're selling, so if you have serious questions, I wouldn't bother asking there. They might spit out an answer, but it won't be worth much. more

various selections of goods for different sports 8/14/2005

Tri-City sporting store is the only one store in Bay Area carries large selections of needs in all kinds of sports. People who work there have pretty good senses in different sports. I like to go there when they have sale for the ski/snowboard goods and apparels. They keep update their goods, so it makes their selections in style. They also have wax and rental services for board and boots in a reasonable price. The store is pretty neat and doesn’t get crowded. more

lots of selection, decent prices 8/14/2005

This is one *big* sporting goods store. For a single store (not a chain) it is one of the biggest stores I have ever seen! You can certainly find whatever sport you are interested in here, and the appropriate accessories and equipment are available. Prices go from okay to good, depending on product and time of year, and their end of season clearances are very good. My biggest complaint is that they aren't very convenient to the highway. more

Family owned sporting goods store, with good selection 8/9/2005

As a child, I remember seeing these cheesy commercials with a catchy theme song for Tri-City Sporting Goods in Fremont. I still occasionally see them now, late at night, or in the middle of the day, if I'm home from work and watching TV. They used to have two buildings -- one full of sporting goods, and another full of patio furniture. But they recently tore down the patio furniture building, and have now moved the selection over the other building. They carry everything form clothing and shoes, to snowboarding and skiing gear (including rentals), a bike department, workout gear, and other sporting equipment (e.g. baseball, basketball, football). Despite having a very good selection, their prices tend to run higher than most other stores in the area. So, if you can find the same product elsewhere, it's likely to be much cheaper. But, sometimes they carry things you won't find so easily in other local stores, so it may be worth checking out. more

HUGE store! 6/24/2005

It really IS the word's largest sporting goods store! I feel like I am walking into a storage wherehouse for the entire olympic team every time I go here. They have everything and anything related to the sports and outdoors. The staff is great, in every department they are willing to help you find exactly what you're looking for, even if that takes quite a while. The cheapest bargains are in the box tables in the middle aisle toward the front of the store. more
