Editorial review from Citysearch 1/27/2014

I've had a handful of pasta dishes here, and everything has been pretty good. Pink sauce dishes have been the best and I would give those my top recommendation. more

Terrible Service 3/2/2011

I had food delivered now several times. 5 out of 7 times the food is either cold or wrong. When i call about the wrong orders they basically tell you to screw yourself. Delivery time is always well over an hour more

what idiots...... 2/24/2011

i've been here several times, and as everyone agrees, the food is great. but, the service is very disappointing, and rather baffling. last night, 3 of us sat down for dinner and ordered wine. not the cheap house wine, but the real good stuff. we waited a long time to get our wine; not sure why. it wasn't that crowded. while studying the extensive menus, we asked for some bread to munch on. THE WAITER REFUSED TO GIVE US BREAD, saying we had to order entrees first. we asked several employees for bread and were ignored by all. what is this? maybe next time (if there is one) we'll bring our own bread...... our total bill was around $140. how much do you have to spend to get bread with your wine? more

Thin Crust! 6/1/2010

Crisp, crunchy, thin-crust pizzas are served fresh and hot at this Los Feliz pizzeria. The varieties range from classics like margherita and pepperoni to more interesting choices like the Vegetariana, which is the perfect option for non-meat eaters and comes loaded with eggplant, bell peppers, mushrooms and radicchio. more

Best Silver Lake/Los Feliz Delivery 9/22/2009

Farfalla is def the best delivery in the neighborhood. It's not cheap, but you can get an amazing pasta tre funghi delivered. And the apple tarte for dessert is also great. Pros: Great Pizza Cons: Salad is kinda weak more

Best Italian on the East side of LA! 5/7/2008

The best Northern Italian food on the East side of LA! I can't go anywhere else without always making comparisons to this place. Mouthwatering pastas, excellent fish and meat, and pretty good prices. Farfalla offers excellent service (my waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu) and one of the city's best wine lists. Sometimes they have a long wait but it's always worth it. Pros: Great food, great service. Cons: Long wait sometimes on weekends. more

If you have a friend visiting LA from Italy.... 5/1/2008

I used to work in commercial productions, and had a lot of crew visiting from Europe. When they wanted to go to an Italian restaurant, I'd take them to Farfalla's. There are a lot of good but expensive Italian restaurants, such as Madeo, Celestino, and others, but Farfalla is the kind of restaurant that reminds you of a small neighborhood restaurant in an Italian town you happen to come across - and ""wow, what a good find"" you'd think (and then keep going back afterwards.) I wouldn't say it's cheap but for the quality, it's a bargain. The food is consistently good. One less star because it's always full. You'd better make a reservation if you want to be seated right away. more

My favorite place 4/23/2008

Whether it's a special occasion or just one of those nights you need pampering, Farfalla is the place to go. The atmosphere is neighborhood casual and cozy. The food is always terrific and the menu specials are consistently outstanding. Their wine list is one of the best around and the staff are always willing to help. The staff have always been friendly and willing to answer questions -- even when the restaurant gets busy. If you haven't already discovered the delights of Farfalla, I highly recommend that you do. If you're coming after 8, you might have a wait but it's definitely worth it. Pros: Great wine list, outstanding specials and friendly staff Cons: Sometimes there is a wait to get in. more

An Los Feliz Home Away From Home 4/20/2008

As a resident of Los Feliz for more than a decade, I was lucky to have stumbled into this neighborhood find early on. The atmosphere is charming and relaxing. Making this restaurant a great retreat after a hard day's work. The food is always impeccable. The staff is as warm, alluring and comforting as the food on their menu. And their extensive wine list -- although it could be a bit intimidating to someone like me who is not familiar with Italian wine -- is easily conquered, especially with the guidance of Andreas or Tara. It's the first place I think of when I want to celebrate a great event or to introduce a new friend to this wonderful neighbor I call home. Pros: Excellent staff, great food and wine, wonderful ambiance Cons: Small restaurant so you may find yourself in line -- definitely worth the wait more

New York type restaurant, fantastic wine list 4/11/2008

An Extensive wine list I would rate as one of the best in LA. There is something for everyone on the menu. We had a wonderful eggplant parmesan appetizer, the polenta fungi, and arugala salad to start; all wonderful- a great pesto and goat cheese pizza, wild brocoli ravioli, grilled salmon and lamb chops second and tiramisu and torta della nonna for dessert. This trattoria is a neighborhood gem. Highly recommend! Pros: Wine List, location, local friendly service Cons: Sometimes there is a wait more

Great service, great food, great ambiance - definite date material 3/31/2008

The service is great, the food is equally good (just watch that your eyes aren't too big for your stomach, you'll get hurt by their generous use of olive oil), and the ambiance makes me feel like I'm eating at a restaurant in northern Italy. My tastes are simple, but I would recommend the penne arrabbiata (though I think you'll probably be happy with just about anything you order). Pros: food, service, ambiance - I always leave here feeling good Cons: Can't think of a thing more

Great local trattoria 12/20/2007

Farfalla is the perfect neighborhood Italian restaurant. Consistently good food and great service. Unlike other reviewers I've rarely had to wait for a table. In those instances, usually a weekend, I recommend walking down to Vinoteca for a glass of wine while you wait. Pros: Great local Italian. Reliable delivery service. Cons: When full, which is often, the room can be loud more

AWFUL! 6/28/2007

I tried this restaurant after hearing nothing but good things. You can imagine by surprise that the food was repulsive and the staff were incredibly rude. I don't know if they had an ""off"" night or what, but this place was disgusting! I will never go back. Cons: food, service, overcrowded, everything more

WORST HOST EVER!!!! 6/11/2007

Will never go back nor will I ever recommend... and it's not because the food is bad or anything of that nature... but because of the host/manager or whatever you'd like to call ""it""... this guy is just RUDE! I guess if your not a ""regular"" you just get pushed aside and forgotten. more

Italian? Since when? 4/4/2007

If you are looking for NON-AUTHENTIC Italian food, EAT HERE. Overpriced pasta dishes (they actually use BARILLA PASTA, no joke), aren't worth the wait nor the price, atmosphere is wanna-be family style and from the other reviews, there are no actor types here. It's your general close-to-home false Italian joint. So for the people who think this is good Italian, they don't get out very much. Better to make the drive elsewhere, take a taxi or make a better meal at home. Pros: CLOSE TO HOME Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE more

Great food, great service, nice atmosphere! 1/20/2007

I loved this place, the food was very good, Pumkin Ravioli with walnuts is delicious! The wines are very nice, quite a selection, even the house wines are better then many places. I didn't find the wines pricy as I've seen in other reviews. Everything was perfet! The staff is very friendly and the service was prompt and attentive, I can't wait to go back! Pros: Excellent wine list! more

Really yummy food, great Italian wine lists 9/13/2006

I take everyone who visits me in LA to this place. The food is delicious, and the wine experts that I've taken there have praised their awesome wine selection. It has the feel of a neighborhood joint, but the food of a top notch place. I've never been disappointed, and I think I've had a majority of what's on their menu. It is small and close like people say (it just feels like a typical NYC restaurant), and I would agree that the wine by the glass is on the expensive side....but overall, it might be the best restaurant in the neighborhood. Pros: Delicious Food, Completely Unpretentious Feel Cons: Bit of a wait on weekends, kinda high-priced wine by the glass more

Great Italian with a New York flair! 9/6/2006

A very cozy place with great food! So cozy you'll hear your neighbors conversation and can eat off their plate if they let you! They give lots of bread and are very attentative! Salads are great and there's so much pasta, you'll have plenty to take home! $40 for dinner for 2, no alcohol! :) Pros: Lots of food, great pasta, lots of bread Cons: Not much room, flat Diet Coke :( more

Yummy Italian food in a cozy, urban environment 6/28/2006

This has been my go-to date restaurant for as long as I've been dating, and it's also where I go with my girlfriends for girls' night out. I love the exposed brick walls -- very New York and fun. I get the same thing every time: Insalata Farfalla. It's seriously the best salad I've ever eaten in my life, and it comes on a pizza crust that absorbs the dressing. It's mind-bogglingly delicious. The angel hair pasta is delicious, as well, and the bread before the meal is fab. The only bummers are that parking can be difficult at times and it's noisy (which I like, but some people don't). Pros: The food, the environment, the location Cons: Parking more

Consistent and great. 6/15/2006

I have eaten at this restaurant many times and each time it's great. The Frutti DiMare salad is one of my favorites, as is the T-bone and the Oso Bucco. (Forgive my poor Italian spelling). They also have an excellent wine list, including great house wines. The icing on the cake are their very reasonable prices. BONUS: I've also seen Tim Curry here! Pros: Quality of food. Wine list. Prices. Cons: Gets very crowded and cramped. Hard to order to go, busy). more
