Ripped Off!! 8/28/2007

The replacement of my transmission was supposed to take a little over one week. Almost 2 months later, the work was done. The bill was over $2,000. I was informed that they don't accept credit cards for the first time when I went to pick it up. I had to get a loan to get my car back. When I did, the vehicle was running really loud. I was told that this is sometimes normal of a new transimssion until broken in. After driving it for several days, something caused me to chedk the dipstick . I discovered that no fluid had been put back into the transmission after its replacement. Running a transmission without fluid will destroy it. I took it back to the shop and described the problems. I was told that it was impossible that the vehicle had been running without any fluid (must have just been low), that they had checked the transmission and everything was fine. I was also told that the cause of the noise was from the exhaust. I took the vehicle to my mechanic who verified that Trans Plus had broken an internal part in my exhaust and that this was causing it to run loudly. The vehicle -- a Jeep Liberty -- only had 50,000 miles on it when the transmission went out, so it was too new to buy a replacement exhaust anywhere except from a dealership. It seemed to be getting bad gas mileage, but was running O.K., so I hoped for the best. The warranty on the work was only for a few thousand miles (5,000 or less if my memory is correct). In the proceeding months, the transmission started to slip a little going up hills and under various other circumstances. The gas mileage got worse. I'm now getting single-digit gas mileage and the transmission is slipping constantly. I'm on this website looking for a reputable transmission shop because I need a new transmission -- roughly a year after Trans Plus charged me $2,000 for a new one. Do NOT trust this shop! P.S. You should also avoid buying a Jeep Liberty. Cons: Lied, stole from me, and completely incompetent more
