Worst Dry Cleaner Ever 11/21/2008

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Top Hat Dry Cleaners is aweful. They used to be really good for a while then they began going downhill. In the past 1-2 months, I have had 3 pieces of clothing come back either damaged or dirty, they don not follow instructions such as no creasing, etc, and the service is aweful. If you looks at the reviews for the Great Hills Store as well, I had the same experience. I left numerous messages both at the store and their main location for the owner (Jody) to call me back, even threatened to have my attorney call them, and still no phone call back about my damaged shirt. This has been over 2 weeks now. There are much better dry cleaners around, and I would recommend not using Top Hat. They damage clothes and do not take responsibility for it. Check reviews for Great Hills location too... I noticed people have posted there too. Pros: Location Cons: Customer Service, quality more

incompetent 3/14/2008

They ruined a black fake-fur bedcover. The tag said ""dry clean only"", but it appears to have been laundered and dried, and then sprayed with some sort of perfume. The deep, silky fur now looks like terrycloth. It also looks like somebody crudely cut off the ""dry clean only"" tag. It was $400, and Pottery Barn doesn't sell it any more. Pros: convenient; in grocery store Cons: they refuse to take responsibility for the quality of their work more

take no responsibility 4/26/2007

I took my down alternative machine washable comforter to the location on I-35 and Parmer. I wanted it laundered but was told it would be cheaper to dry clean it. So, I figured I'd save five bucks and the girl at the counter told me it was nearly the same service. I was then told it would be eight days before my comforter was ready. I went back to pick it up and it was ready. But when I went to take it off the hanger it was dirty like it had been dragged on the floor! I decided it wasn't worth the hassle and ""attempted"" to put my duvet cover on only to find that my comforter was now SIX INCHES SMALLER!! When I called the store, the girl who answered the phone said, ?Uh, do you want to call the manager?? Of course I said yes and got his number, only to get his very unprofessional voicemail. I called another location to see if I would get a different answer and nope, she told me that comforters shrink. I now have a $400 comforter that is essentially ruined. I will NEVER use Top Hat Cleaners again, no matter the location. Pros: close to home Cons: poor service, lack of responsibility for damaged items, very unprofessional more

Poor Customer Service 4/10/2007

After being a long time customer of the Top Hat Cleaners on I-35 & Parmer (H.E.B. shopping center), I had a bad experience today that I still can't believe. I dropped off my clothes at 9am because I needed same day service. I usually don't cut it this close on the pick up ; however, knowing they close at 7pm I made one stop before getting to the store at 6:50. I walked up to the door and it was locked. I looked at my cell phone and it was 6:52. There was a young man and young woman standing behind the counter, and they refused to let me into the store. If they close at 6:50 then they should post that on the outside of the door. I had a very serious reason I needed same day service, and now have to suffer the consequences. For this reason, they have lost a loyal customer, and I cannot recommend this store to anyone who cares about good customer service. Pros: Convenient locations Cons: Poor customer service attitudes more

""The customer is always wrong"" 7/18/2006

We will never go back to Top Hat Cleaners, which is a shame since they are in our neighborhood. They take no responsibility for items that they ruin. They ruined a top and two pairs of expensive pants, and refused to admit fault. We were initially assured by a clerk that ""the owners would treat us right"", but Joanne was clear that Top Hat does nothing wrong. Stay clear of this business. more

10 years satisfied! 5/3/2006

I have moved South and had contemplated moving dry cleaners. After much research, I will have to continue to drive North. I have nearly everything I own, cleaned here. Service rocks considering the Arboretum is not known for its customer care. Ask for Joanne, she works in the morning. Price can't really be beat, and was shocked at the going rate around town. Mens shirts laundered here $1.35, Westbank Cleaners $2.22. Dry Cleaned long sleeved mens is 3.80 compared to 6.09 at Westbank. Buttons/Damage always handled in timely manner w/o grief. Next day service too. more

Lousy Service!!! 9/7/2005

I brought my wedding dress to this establishment to be cleaned. When I asked how long it would take, the clerk stated 1 to 2 weeks. I came back 2 weeks later and the store clerk had no idea where my wedding dress was. After 2 months of serious headaches, numerous phone calls, and trips to the store I finally got my dress back. It had been shipped to San Antonio for cleaning without my permission. The manger and owner refused to answer any of my phone calls or to discount the cleaning price after they wasted my time and energy. more

OK unless they damage things 7/15/2005

We used Top Hat for years. Their cleaning was fine, pretty much like all the rest. But if something is damaged, the owner of the company will not respond to calls and will not take care of the problem. It has been eight weeks since our items were damaged. They have not called back or reimbursed us. They damaged two expensive pair of pants. Two people have admitted it was their fault. But the owner will not reimburse us and will not call back. I will never use Top Hat again. They will not take care of you when they damage your goods. Pros: In a grocery store Cons: Damage clothes, No compensation, No return calls more

Horrible service & Shrunk my clothes! 6/13/2003

I have never experienced such horrible customer service before in Austin! My clothes were not ready at the time they promised and aside from this, they shrunk my clothes! After two re-do's, all I'm left with are clothes that I can't wear, no refund of money and the strong opinion that I will never do business with this company again. Cons: Bad service, Shrunk clothes more
