Top of the Gulf on Panama City Beach has got to be one of the worst resorts I have ever stayed at. First of all it is misleading in its ad regarding trip bucks and gas vouchers and the room size and what it looks like. It guarantees every room to have a view of the gulf. None of that is true. To top it off I thought the place was kind of dirty. Like they need to powerwash the mold off of the walls and power wash other dirt and debris laying around the resort. They had garbage pickers in the huge dumpster in the lot. The bugs were bad there. Our porch door did not work. The place seemed to have a lot of mold inside the room. They charged me extra for having an extra vehicle. Not that there wasn't enough room for parking. 4 guests were already paid for. But because we all came in seperate cars all had to pay for parking. Your renting a hotel why should you have to pay for parking? Makes no sense to me. It is not Valet parking or anything like that. Because our room was to accomodate 4 people there turned out to not be enough beds so we asked for a roll away. Well if they gave us the roll away they were going to have to charge us more for having an extra person in the room even though we did not. Now that makes no sense to me either. As a matter of fact the office closed early so at night there is no staff. We had to run to this other hotel to get sheets as the place did not provide sheets for the other bed. The maid gave us problems regarding extra towels. 4 towels for 4 people were all they were willing to give out. Then they sent some guy in to come fix a dishwasher. We came back to our room and here were these 2 men in our room! They didn't inform us of this. They could have let us know. We didn't even know anything was wrong with it. They made a horrible mess and never bothered to clean that up either.
The maid didn't even bother to come by one of the days. I really don't recommend the place. I mean the pool is nice and the beach is right there but its about 90-100+ a night. Guess you get what you pay for. The Days Inn up the street was looking pretty good to me. The bugs were horrible at night so I never bothered to leave the room after dark. And I don't do those huge Florida Bugs very well either.
Well I live in Florida and I don't have all of those flying things around me crawling all over the place where I live. I don't have them at home don't expect them at a vacation resort. Disqusting. One of the most unkept properties I have ever seen in all reality. Lot of trash and debris around. Very poorly staffed. I mean there is a guard gate with no guard in it. An office at night with no people in it. Very poorly maintained. Kind of scarey. I did survive.
