Go somewhere else! The staff is rude rude rude and there is no one to complain to since it is a family business. They also refuse to refund you even after admitting they overcharged you - just offer to give you a store credit so you can go in there to be treated like crap all over again.... no thanks. And by the way, double check your receipt because they add in the tip and don't tell you ahead of time. more

Only Pizza I can eat 5/5/2012

After watching a show on tv about the best 10 pizzas in the country i saw this one in Chicago and it looks awesome. So i started searching online for a deep dish pizza here in OC. I decided to try Tonys and im glad i did. I live in Anaheim which is 8 miles away but everybody elses cant compare . Ive never had bad service and i call an hour ahead so it will be ready when i get there (this isnt 30 minutes or less crap). 1 or 2 pieces and your full and the flavor, mama mia. Ive been coming here for 2 or 3 yrs now. Last time i was there i talked to a guy that drove from Huntington Beach, what does that tell you, (word of mouth) more

Best Chicago Deep Dish in SoCal 12/5/2009

I found this place on a rating site similar to Citysearch... The place had some amazing reviews, and I have always been intrigued by Chicago Deep dish... My only real experience was back in Chicago a year ago.. went to a place called Gino's East and waited 45 minutes to get in. I wasn't a big fan of the place b/c the crust was made out of corn bread or something. Bleh. but I saw the potential here. Reset - Tony's. Came here.. and they use ""regular"" crust... EXCELLENT!!!! There is no other pizza like this (at least that I've had) in SoCal... BJ's is a deep dish, but nothing like this. I've never had a bad customer service experience.. I talked to the owner and he seemed very nice. Then again, I've only been twice. Two huge thumbs up :-) Pros: Better than Gino's East in Chi-Town Cons: They are out of my delivery area! more

Worth The Trip 2/10/2009

So here is my first review on this site. I'm a New Yorker now living in SoCal, the only deep dish pizza I?ve had was Pizzeria Uno, which I used to love until I realized it was garbage. 9 months ago while living in LA, I decided to take a vacation to the Bay Area. My co-worker recommended pizza in his hometown of Petaluma. This was my first real Deep Dish experience so I thought it was important to compare it to Tony?s. It's called Old Chicago Pizza - an outstanding 10 on a 1 to 10 scale. Not greasy and best of all despite being a meat lovers pizza with Canadian bacon, Pepperoni and Sausage, I didn?t feel disgustingly full and thirsty from a sodium overload like Uno's. Everything about this Pizza was so incredibly fresh! I?m not going to argue which is better NYC pizza or Chicago. They are two totally different animals. If you are on the go, a NY slice is perfect. But if you want to sit down and enjoy a hearty meal, Chicago style is awesome! So to my review of Tony?s ?Little Italy? Pizza of Placentia: I drove approxy 30 miles and it was worth it. Plus, there was the Cinema City with an all-digital theater presentation in Anaheim Hills I?ve wanted to check out. Was it better than Old Chicago in Petaluma, NO but it was still a darn good pie. I ordered the smallest one with Pepperoni and Sausage and I still couldn?t finish it. Tony?s gets points off for the pie being a bit greasy and I was a little thirsty later that night. The sausage was very tasty, the sauce a perfectly sweet and chunky. There was lots of delicious cheese too. The pepperoni was good but the sausage seemed to slightly over power it and the crust was perfect. If you were desperate for a good deep dish pizza check this place out. If you?re originally from Chicago, this may not cut it for you. Since Old Chicago Pizza is a 10 I?d give this one a 7 and 1/2. Had a friendly conversation with the owners about NY and Chicago winters & how we don't miss them. Definitely going back. Pros: Deep Dish Pizza Made Fresh Cons: The place is a bit too Small more

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat pie 1/23/2009

Whats with all the bad reveiws about Tony's service??? My family and I heard about Tony's and were reluctant to go fearing bad service or being put in our place. However after a few months we mustured up the courage and went! For some reason we found ourselves quiet intimidated and didn't want to do anything that would set these people off. We had already concluded that this was going to be a scary situation and had warned our son to be on his best behavior. As we waited for our order we recongnized that they are very family orientated and seemed to know all their customers. Rosalie proceeded to set our table for us and get this when she delivered our pie she even served us. The service was excellent and the pizza was even better. The quality of the ingrediants were great, from the buttery cheese to the perfectly cooked crust, you can't go wrong. While it's true that one could see the soprano in them, we had nothing less than a great experience at Tony's. Just remember go on your best behavior! LOL, just kidding, this family is so neat, we are going back this weekend and taking extended family with us. Thanks Tony more

Best Chicago Style Pizza 8/25/2008

This pizza was fantastic. I have never had a pizza like this and it was worth the 40 mile drive. The owner was a little rude in that he had us move to a different table instead of allowing us to put two table together so I can see that it would ruin the experience for some but I would have ate this next to the dumpster if I had to because it was so good. Also, as a warning, this pizza is huge and greasy, so take your antacids, but that is what makes it soooo good! more

no better pizza in so cal 7/12/2008

1st of all- NO OTHER PIZZA COMPARES TO TONY'S. They have won awards for how delicious there pizza is. \r 2nd- Those complaining about customer service don't understand what it means to dine in a Italian family owned and operated establishment. If you speak to them in any condescending tone, or come across insulting, you will be put in your place. This place doesn't mind complaints in fact, they want to when a customer isn't satisfied. But make the complaint worth the time. Don't waste anyone's time on petty issues like ""a little less sauce"", or the wait for the pizza, which is about 30-40 minutes because of the impeccable quality. \r One time, my family and I showed up when they were closed and Tony still let me order. Basically, if you want your but kissed and cr*p for quality pizza, go to pizza hut or domino's. You want someone to put their heart and soul into every pizza he makes just for you, Tony's your guy. This place is worth a 100 mile trip guaranteed. Pros: everything Cons: those babies complaining about customer service more

THE HOLY GRAIL OF PIZZA!! 6/26/2008

This Pizza is SCARY GOOD! I literally drive 60 miles to go to Tony's. I get the pepperoni and sausage stuffed pizza (deep dish) everytime I go. I've been a huge fan since the first day I tried this place. I've been trying to find a better pizza. I've even flown to San Francisco to try a pizza that was supposed to be ""untouchable"" according to my nor cal friends and it came very close, but Tony's is still my favorite. \r \r PS...if you're ever in the bay area try Zachary's Pizza. It's a very close second to Tony's, but totally different style. Tony's is so good it's unfair to the competition. Pros: SCARY GOOD PIZZA Cons: The pizza is so good they could kick me in the nuts and I'd still come back. more

Best Pizza Ever 1/5/2008

This is simply the best pizza I've ever had. It's very heavy deep-dish Chicago-style pizza, oozing with cheese and toppings. As with any deep-dish pizza, it's best to call ahead because it takes 30-45 minutes to cook. I *always* make a point to stop by Tony's when I'm near Placentia. Pros: Best Pizza Ever Cons: Why Placentia? We need one in LA! more

Best Chicago style pizza in California 11/2/2007

This is HOME in a big way, being a Chicago transplant (to California 20 years ago) I missed the great taste of authentic Chicago style pizza, but look no more. I FOUND IT! Tony's on the first bite brought me back 30 plus years. I felt like a kid again. It's so good to find a piece of home here in California. Keep up the good work and Thanks. ps I found the service to be just like home (there is a bit of a wait) and I was also served the first slice, any Chicagoan knows that is how it's done... Pros: GREAT pizza, reminds me of home Cons: place is a bit small, they need a bigger rest. more

Good but inconsistent pizza. Service..the worst. 10/12/2007

I had a complaint recently that there was almost no suace at all on the pizza. Tony got on the phone and preceeded to tell me how many hours he works, which meant nothing to me. Then he told me that the pizza was the same as always, great. Then I got a lecture on ""this is'nt Pizza Hut or Little Ceasars"". I told Tony that him naming other pizza palces was irrevelant. I told Tony that the pizza was not edible. bottom line, Tony said because I did not drive the pizza back too his store, he will give me a free ingredient in a future order. \r Now ,I go to Round Table, even though they don't hold a candle to Tonys. What I get from round Table is a smile and the knowledge that if I am not satisfied they will make it right.\r PS. The woman is as nasty as Tony. The son is a great guy but is keep in the background for some reason. Pros: Pizza Cons: Customer service more

Tolerate the service if you like Chicago Style pizza 3/28/2007

The pizza itself (when not undercooked) is quite good but the service lacks qualities. In person I was delegated to waiting since the cashier was interacting with an old friend. On the phone I was told to yell my order in a harsh tone because the person working the phone could not hear me. I love Chicago style pizza so I tolerate the service to enjoy the food. The next closest pizza with better than average taste is too far away. For a Cubs/Bulls/Bears fan it is interesting to see all the decorations. Pros: Pizza, Parking, Chicago sports fans will enjoy Cons: Service more

Very Poor Custerme Service 2/4/2007

I could not agree more with Red. This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced with a restaurant. Very Very rude and arrogant. They blame the customer for their mistake. My kids were very unhappy with the cold pizza and the wrong toppings. I found this site because I was looking for another pizza place in the area because my kids would not eat the pizza delivered. I'm not sure about you, but I certainly do not like to pay some one to treat me rudely. Avoid the hassle. Cons: Rude, Rude, Rude more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE 2/4/2007

Decent Pizza. Terrible Customer service and extremely rude. I recommend patronizing an establishment that cares about customer service--Tony's obviously does not. In the area: Pizza Rosas, First Class Pizza, Fatsos have just as good pizza (if not better) and excellent customer service. Cons: TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXRTREMELY RUDE! more

The Best Pizza EVER!!! 1/3/2007

My quest to find real chicago style pizza is over. Tony's deep dish pizza is the best. One taste and me and the my kids are totally hooked. Its a ways for me to drive but always worth it. I read the reviews and tried them all\r nobody beets tony's. Great pizza, garlic bread and hotwings. Pros: Deeep dish pizza, garlic bread Cons: needs more locations, cant get enough. more

Better than Chicago's best! 8/31/2006

We have been addicted to Tony's deep dish for well over 25 years. This is the pizza to measure all others against. Tony (and family) have always used the best ingredients, perfectly seasoned homemade sauces, volumes of cheese, and a buttery deep dish crust to die for. We drive 30 miles one way just to sink our teeth into this amazing cuisine. Hey Californians and ex-Chicagoans - we are so lucky to have him! Pros: melt in your mouth deep dish. friendly. makes you feel just like family. homemade everything Cons: can't stop eating it more
