Don't Go There!!! 3/30/2010

When you pay the kind of prices you do at Toni and Guy you expect great things. Think again! I unfortunately told my husband he should try it out. A mans haircut took 1 1/2 hours! I think she messed up so his hair kept getting shorter and shorter. It was the worst cut I have ever seen!!!!! Never again will we go there! more

I've been going to Sara Matts for my haircuts at Toni and Guy in Newport Beach for some time now. She never fails to give me a consistent haircut and great customer service every time. She recently left Toni and Guy and is now at Gods and Heros located in Costa Mesa close to South Coast Plaza. I am more than happy to follow her. 714 557 1691. Pros: great service more

BEST STYLIST IN NEWPORT 11/24/2008

If anyone is looking for someone that is wonderful at doing curly/ wavy hair, or thick hair... I went to ashleigh at Toni and Guy in Fashion Island. Then I went back but she wasnt there. I had another stylist but they didnt listen and cut my hair so it was frizzy my cut was horrible. I couldnt find her until I drove down PCH and saw her name on a sign in the window of Jack Winn Salon. It was the best haircut I ever got! She also did a smoothing treatment on my hair that made it so much easier for me to blowdry straight. I cant tell you how happy I am with her! My life is so much easier and less stressful!! more

Don't go there or you'll be disappointed...terrible haircutters and front desk 1/24/2008

T& G is an ordinary place in a chic mall to attract the Newport Beach crowd. I had the worse haircut and the front dest attitude I have ever seen in service oriented business. DO NOT GO THERE... Cons: inexperienced haircutters, terrible attitudes, VERY expensive for a lousy haircut more

Worst Haircut I Have EVER Had! 1/9/2008

Never go to Eric at Toni and Guy. He screwed my hair up so badly. I had to leave and go straight to another hairdresser to have ti fixed. So I was out the money for both haircuts. Just to fix the cut that Eric did, they had to cut my hair about 4 inches. They just keep telling me now that I will have to grow it out for the next year to get it back to normal. Do not go to Toni and Guy! Pros: the assistants were the nicest people there Cons: bad haircut, rude hairdresser, EXPENSIVE more

sandy does the best blond highlites ever, close to the root, bright, and pretty. even after having a baby she is at the top of her ""hair"" game and is an inspiration to me, amber troxel, her friend & co-worker. Pros: open 7 days a week more

Best haircut I have ever gotten. Period. 2/7/2007

I absolutely love Toni & Guy in Newport, but it's probably just because of the person who did my hair. His name was Alex and he did a great job- everything I wanted and more. I had a certain way I wanted my hair to look, but he made it look even better. I will definitely keep seeing this stylist. He is only a level one, but if I can get this good of a haircut at level 1 there is no point in going any higher. Plus, the higher level haircuts are way too expensive, and I don't believe in any haircut being worth 100 or more. For $52, I got my hair cut beautifully, blowdried and straightened. The receptionists were very nice, but maybe I just came at the right time. I am definitely going to go back to this guy, I have literally NEVER gotten a haircut this good. Love it. Pros: Great stylist, very friendly staff, clean salon Cons: Stylist wasn't very gentle when brushing my hair more

Not the best experience 11/28/2006

Similar to other reviewers, my hair was over processed and after the assistant washed it, I would run my fingers gently through my hair and hair just melted off. more

Haley is great 9/14/2006

I've been getting my hair cut by Haley for a two or three years now. She's super nice, always on time (from my experience), and does a fantastic job. The best part is the scalp massage. Haley (I hope I'm spelling that right!) is one of the creative directors (or whatever they call it), so the haircut is rather expensive (just over $100, including a 20% tip), but I think it's well worth it. (Better than paying $400 in Los Angeles!) more

Don't waste your time 5/27/2006

I called to make an appointment and twice they called me back saying they had to change my appointment time because the stylist had 1) a wedding to do and 2) wasn't going to be in the day of my appointment (which was a Saturday). When I called back the second time they said that she doesn't come in on the weekends! Why was I given two appointments with her on Saturdays when she isn't even scheduled to be in on the weekends? The receptionist gave me the usual ""we don't believe in customer service"" attitude and just hung up. more

Perfect Cut Every Time 5/3/2006

I've been going to Tony & Guy since 1999 when I lived in England. The training of the stylists is fantastic, and they never fail to give me a great cut. Sara has been doing my hair in Newport Beach for the past year. She is friendly and I always leave feeling totally hot! It doesn't matter what level of stylist you get. The best cuts I've ever had have been from the trainees. I love Tony & Guy and I love my hair! Pros: Great Precision Cut, Massage Head, Friendly Cons: Can be cold in salon more

Very well-trained Stylists 4/9/2006

I have read a few reviews on Toni and Guy, and yes the staff..lets say can be a little bit off and a bit snooty. However I, myself am a stylist and I drive 2 1/2 hours to see a girl that has cut my hair for 7 years, and she is simply one of the best! People go into salons with pictures with very unreasonable expectations on how they want their hair to look. Most people will not listen to what hairstlylists recommend. Every head of hair is different and no one can look exactly like a picture in a magazine. You want an awesome haircut at this salon? Go see Rhondalyn. Worth every penny and she will give you the best haircut. I have never been dis-pleased in my 7 years of driving ungodly miles just to get a haircut!!! Awful!! Paid the rediculously higher price to see an ""experienced"" colorist & being familiar with T & G in London & Sydney was sure I could get a good result. Wrong!! One of the worst ever & when I expressed cocern was told begrudgingly that if I went home & didn't like it I could callup to see about getting it changed. Went home & decided instead to never visit & Toni & Guy Salon ever again! Cons: overpriced, undertrained, took forever more

Don't waste your money 6/16/2005

As a stylist & fan of Toni&Guy products & hairstyles, I expected the best when I came here. I brought a picture(Toni&Guy cut) and right off the stlist tried to talk me out of it. I got my color done and though I have dark blonde hair to begin with(very easy to bleach to platinum w/o damage) My hair was overprocessed and breaking off. Then, when I got my haircut, the girl cut it differently than how I asked, and when I wanted it changed, she got very irritated with me. I left, unhappy, and had to return to get it fixed. I explained in the clearest possible stylist terms what I wanted and again, she got very annoyed and argued about what I was asking. It is NEVER ok for a stylist to argue with their clients. If you are hoping for amazing hair, don't bother with Toni&Guy Newport. Pros: Great Products, Clean Salon Cons: Snippy Attitudes, Poor Listening Skills, Poor knowledge more

So I figure for the price that I am paying for a ""Creative director"" hair colorist, I would be getting some good service. I actually took pictures in with me and said ""I want it like this"". Not only did she do something different but when I asked her, very graciously, if she could fix it- she gave me attitude! I was there for a little over 5 hours- talk about knocking out my day! The only person I found worth going there for was my hair stylist, Eric. Great haircut and still in my budget. Cons: Expensive, Crowded, Lacking personal care more
